    Neither, pax were just appreciative of good service from tour director and driver. Even locally I tip the waitstaff a few dollars if the service is good. Just my nature. I tip my hairdresser $5, saying have a coffee on me.

    Back in 97 we did a 14 day coach tour of NZ with Guthreys Pacific. I recollect on the last day the Tour Director passed the hat around for tips for him and driver. They were not backward in coming forward and from my observation just about every pax put some $ into ye olde hat. It was a good tour so nobody really objected to the 'whip around.'

    My half sister in Essex, UK is on 'Ambience' doing Canary Islands, Xmas/New Year. Recent reviews of the ship are not that good. Apparently run down. She is operating from Tilbury, Essex. Ye olde Regal Princess and Pacific Dawn lives on ! Sort of.

    Speciality eateries on ship are just a money spinner for the cruise lines.

    Westerdam is a Vista class ship like Noordam and Arcadia, been on both and I like them. Enjoy your cruise Julie and Rolf. Bon Voyage.

    Totally agree Neil, I have never booked a trip with an overseas agency, nor would I. Do your bookings from Australia and 'keep your kids in a job.'

    Stick with the bottled water on board, safer. I pre purchase some or buy a bottle a day from the bar.

    On Princess here the gratuities were rolled into the fare as so many Aussie pax were removing them or reducing them once on board by a visit to Guest Service. No longer able to be removed/reduced. Gratuities = AWS, Automatic Wage Subsidy.

    My thoughts today are for the two murdered Qld Police Officers in Chinchilla Qld. A tragedy. Condolences to family and work colleagues. a Civilian neighbour was also killed. The alleged offenders have been shot and killed by Qld Police following a siege. Rest in peace comrades.
