  1. This topic of 'fun' on a cruise seems to be popping up more frequently. It all depends on what type of 'fun' they are looking for. Celebrity is a 'make your own kind of fun' cruiseline. During the daytime, poolside games will consist of trivia, golf putting, cornhole tossing, volleyball games, cardio classes-nothing wild and crazy, even during Spring break. That's about it. Nighttime there the shows, casino, silent disco night, dancing at the Club. Nighttime Deck Parties do occur on Celebrity but TBH they are sparsely attended - you're not going to see half the ship out on deck doing the Shuffle like on a Carnival or Virgin ship.
  2. That's not how it works. In terms of rating, the casino doesn't care what kind of bet you make, only what is the total amount and how long you're playing. That is all.
  3. If you've never been to Barcelona before you should DEFINITELY go 2 or 3 days ahead to sightsee. Barcelona has wonderful architecture and the food is just amazing. You didn't mention if you're a gym user but if not this cruise would be the perfect time to start a fitness routine. Can't be any easier with a gym a couple of decks away from your cabin. I'm not sure how many days you'll be able to lay out on your hammock, certainly not when you're still in Europe nor when crossing the Atlantic. It's a shame there's no indoor pool or solarium. I've done more than 20 TA's, both eastbound and westbound. I love the seadays and just relaxing.
  4. Yes, Carnival, Royal, Celebrity, NCL, and Virgin all issue W2Gs. With regards to the IRS, you hit it right on the head; we utilize the 'sessions' method of reporting gambling winnings. My husband uses his cellphone to take notes and also sets up lines of credit on land-based casinos and takes markers as another way to track cash flow. We had used the sessions method for several years and there wasn't any issue until our 2020 tax return. It wasn't an audit but a letter saying our tax return didn't match the W2G's reported to the IRS. We replied that you didn't check the worksheet that was attached explaining how we came to our entry. It took about 4 months for the IRS to reply that they accepted our calculations for gambling winnings. This resolution letter came about a month ago. We will continue to use the same reporting method. The issue is the IRS hasn't specified what constitutes a gambling 'session', so it's all up to interpretation. There are proposals to specify and codify but those have yet to be enacted. Edit: We have literally spent hours with our tax accountant on this issue.
  5. I'm enjoying your trip reports and thank you for spending the time posting. It's fun to see a different itinerary from the three Pride cruises I was on earlier this summer. Would you care to share your thoughts on the CD, who I assume is still Felipe? On our three cruises he wasn't the most effective CD and I've experienced better on Carnival.
  6. I did the tour several years ago and honestly I enjoyed the museum more than the actual sites themselves. While it is mind boggling to be standing in the place where the Olympics were born there's not much at the ruins sites as you stated.
  7. I think you're viewing it from the perspective of the MODERN Olympics. The ancient Olympics were a totally different event and TBH had nothing to do with sports as we know it.
  8. If that's what you're looking for in a cruise vacation tbh there's not really any other cruiseline that has a similar vibe/atmosphere to Carnival. Royal Caribbean is closer to NCL than Carnival. Certainly not Celebrity, Princess,MSC, or Hal.
  9. His name is Felipe and he wasn't a very effective CD. I'm assuming he's still the CD since it would be strange to change him out during the Europe sailings.
  10. The whole point of the OPs question was to ask if there is clear glass when you open the mirror. The OP already knew that there's was view, they just wanted to know if it was an open passthrough. I answered no, it's not an open passthrough. The other two responses implied that it was an open passthrough from bathroom to the bed.
  11. Another video showing the GLASS WINDOW behind the bathroom mirror.
  12. Here's video proof of the window.
  13. Well there was a glass window in my SS#10197 on the Apex. I remember having to wipe it clean so there were no streaks which would show up. I would swear to that.
  14. That's fine, you should play the games you enjoy. But don't expect to accumulate alot of points and move up tiers in the BCC. If that's your gambling style you're better off on Carnival. Their casino program doesn't have transparent player tiers and their comped cruises are easier to come by. Or you should go to the 3rd party Cruise Casino hosting company URcomped.com and work with them on getting comped cruises based on your style of gambling.
  15. You're entitled to your opinion but no way the food on the Pride was better than the Constellation. I was on the Pride for 31 days in May/June and the food in the buffet was terrible and many of the entrees in the mdr we're inedible. The so called lasagna looked like meatloaf with a dried later of cheese on top.
  16. The pit boss is looking soley what you're average bet is on the roulette table;how and/or what you're betting is irrelevant. When you step up to the table give your card to the pit boss and for the next 3 spins bet bigger. The pit boss will then enter into the computer your average bet per spin. Then you can lower your bet. Subsequently whenever you see the pit boss checking the roulette table you raise you bet.
  17. You're not going to get much points at all from playing roulette. Table games in general won't get you the points. It's all about the slots. It's the same in land based casinos.
  18. That's not my recollection. I don't remember an opening, what would the purpose be for a opening?
  19. No rocking chair. There's a coffee table that's just big enough for 2 to have breakfast while sitting on the couch. Yes in the bathroom it's not a passthrough but a window so you can get natural light and/or enjoy the views.
  20. This Oceanview cabin might be a good choice for you, that slanted space provides some extra room, but no panoramic opening window. It all depends on want your needs are vs pricing.
  21. Actually in your situation it might work out better since it expands the size of the room, unless having an actual outside space that physically separate from the main cabin is important to you.
  22. I've sailed Carnival 25 times and NCL 16 times, so I'm familiar with both lines.Yet I'm still not sure why you say NCL is more laid back than Carnival and why it feels more casual; can you elaborate? Neither line has strict dress codes for dinner, heck people go through the Carnival buffet in swimwear without a shirt.
