  1. Easy to check - they still list them on the website but I believe there are only four. https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/pride-of-america The cost comparison, as some have noted, requires a little leg-work since there is no sail-away rate without the FAS perks as noted by @dbrown84 When I did my second NCL cruise I had the TA booking the trip do a total cost comparison for me and found that for that sailing it only cost me $60 more than a Studio to sail in a balcony when all costs were considered (including paying full solo supplement to get the reduced airfare perk compared to paying full airfare and booking it on my own in a Studio that didn't qualify for the airfare perk). I've sailed on NCL 3 times, all solo (though I was joined by people staying in another cabin for one) and have another trip booked in 2 months. I've sailed in one Studio cabin and I'm booked in one for my next trip, though I'm tempted to bid for a balcony upgrade.
  2. I agree - flying cross-country needs to be a trip where you'd go in a day early. Shoot - I won't fly the day of the cruise for my next one, even though I can get a direct flight to MCO from my home airport.
  3. You're not going to connect to a US cell tower while in Bermuda. If you cell plan has international coverage you can likely get service on a local network though.
  4. Which is a shame - when I was on that itinerary in 2019 I actually liked the stop in Mazatlan the best. I got off the ship and self-toured the city, walked 5 miles (I think), had lunch at a local restaurant, saw a few sights, just walked the city and took in what was going on...
  5. A little context as to why you think it isn't safe might help others advise you. Also - are you looking at Western Caribbean/Mexico or Mexican Riviera (West coast)?
  6. I'm in a T1 (Studio), I guess I DO qualify! Brings me to 62 points, another cruise like that and I reach Platinum...
  7. Hmm - my confirmation for my upcoming cruise on the Escape has this code but as I'm in a Studio I'm not sure I get the extra points. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Interesting to note - it was not on my original confirmation but when I called for a price drop and to make final payment the subsequent confirmation I received shows this code.
  8. Doing this is a waste of effort and stress. The smallest table in any of the restaurants seats two, it simply doesn't matter if the reservation is for one or two people, you'll get the same table. Same goes for ANYONE booking an odd-number party - just book for one higher and when you show up just tell them you only have whatever number you have (1, 3, 5, 7) and they will sit you at a table that seats the number of people you booked the reservation for and remove a place-setting. The only place where accurate party size matters when booking a reservation is Teppanyaki. I went through that in 2019 when I sailed with my sister and her BF - we booked a table for 4, showed up as 3. When they asked where #4 was we apologized and said we should have adjusted the reservation but they said it wasn't an issue as we would have gotten the same table anyway.
  9. If they're not linked by the record locator (if they're actually different "trips") I don't see how even on the same airline they could cancel the return if you no-show for the outbound. I suppose it's possible though.
  10. A work VPN doesn't work like that. Also, it's not just sites. They can block the port used for the VPN so as to prevent it from working unless you pay for the plan that doesn't block the port.
  11. You are correct - NCL can't modify how your work-controlled VPN functions. The VPN creates a secure 'tunnel', NCL can't see and restrict what is going through said tunnel.
  12. If they haven't changed then any of the menus from any of the other ships over the last couple years will give you an idea. There's a fleet-wide rotation of 14-21 menus, any of those menus could be selected for any day. Several sites have menus posted, a Google search for "norwegian cruise line menus" will give you those results.
  13. What I'm seeing still includes that wording - That's from https://www.ncl.com/onboard-packages/internet-packages
  14. Thank you. I was sitting here thinking I've actually not seen one that opens INWARD, but since I've only sailed on BA+ ships (on NCL) that would explain that...
  15. and if you read the first reply you would see why, @European_CruiseGirl explained it.
  16. There was a link to 'sleeves' for the luggage tags posted earlier in the thread, there are some that attach with metal loops to secure them to the bags. Keep those in your carry-on and attach them when you grab the bags at baggage claim, no stapler, tape or glue needed...
  17. In my case, my cruise dropped $100 (a Studio cabin) just before final payment, so I called in and asked for the new fare then had them process my payment. It's now gone back up. As long as you're before final payment it should be easy to get the lower fare applied to your cruise, just be aware that if the perks have changed at all you will then be eligible only for the new perks and not the ones you originally booked (since the new fare is based on the new set of perks). I would anticipate a decent drop in fare around 65-70 days prior to sail date - the ability to add or change the airfare promo ends at 75 days before the cruise, so once they drop that perk/offer from the fares they should go down some. However, this is not an automatic re-fare as you're after final payment - you may or may not get FCC in some amount (usually a % of the fare difference) or be offered to upgrade to a higher cabin category IF it's still fared higher than you've already paid. After final payment you get a ONE TIME adjustment, you can't keep calling and getting more off your fare.
  18. I print mine in B&W, didn't have an issue getting my bag in March...
  19. I've sailed both, enjoyed both. They're more similar than different. Mostly the same venues (except for the previously mentioned thermal spa as the biggest missing venue for some). The Joy does still have some of the Asian-inspired decor that she was built with (originally built for the Asian market) but you may not even notice it if you didn't know. I would sail on either ship again in a heartbeat! I will say that the Cavern Club on the Joy is laid out a LITTLE better (rotated 90 degrees, with the stage on a short wall so the crowd can be deeper). That doesn't fix how rowdy a Beatles crowd can get.
  20. I know this was posted a week ago but it wasn't answered. Yes, you're likely getting a redeye (this is actually now covered in detail covered in the terms of the promotion). The port is a very short ride from MIA, the shuttles probably won't start until 9 AM or a little later. When I sailed from MIA in March they didn't open the doors to let people in and start processing them until 10 or 10:30 AM. For your reference, the T&C's are here - https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions/promotions Here's the relevant section - If flying from the West Coast to the East Coast of the U.S., we reserve an overnight flight allowing you plenty of time to get to your destination city. There's also this, if you haven't gotten your flights yet - Guests embarking or disembarking in PortMiami may be reserved on flights arriving or departing at Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
  21. People traveling together swap cabins often. This shouldn't be an issue, just ask the cabin steward for the needed items, a little extra cash up front might help to move it along. Your son just won't have access to the cabin with his card.
  22. There aren't ANY slots for odd numbers. All the tables have an even number of seats. Anyone with an odd number of people should book a table for one person more than they have so as to ensure they get the proper table size reserved.
  23. As far as accessibility/travel convenience between the airport and the cruise port - LGB would be my pick so you don't have to deal with LAX traffic. That said - flights to/from LGB can be somewhat limited, since I don't live near a major airport it would have been three flights (two connections) to get to/from LGB, which isn't exactly a situation I desire, but you may have a different level of tolerance for that.
  24. Once the flights are ticketed they won't make changes. Such is the risk when you allow the cruise line to book the flights - you have no control over the flight schedule and now that the "travel with guarantee" is shut down there is no assurance you'll be on the same flights as friends you may be traveling with if you're in different cabins. NCL isn't chartering flights, they're booking tickets on regular flights based on pricing and availability when they book the flights and it's possible there weren't enough seats on a single flight in the fare class required to book you and your friends.
  25. NCL calls them "dress up, or not". You can dress however you want, part of the freestyle cruising concept, but the pictures with backgrounds are done on those days if the passenger wants a picture taken. I can go check my dailies from my last cruise but I'm going to say a sea day is most likely for that.
