  1. I like them, rarely used traditional balconies when I had them, so have more room space is actually nicer for me. Plus, for cooler cruises like Alaksa or NOR Fjords, they are great to get floor to ceiling views.
  2. Because throttling speed allows for a more balanced bandwidth load across all users. Have it uncapped, and a handful of people streaming some 4k content would clog up things for everyone. Remember, there will also be a chunk of bandwidth allocated to the actual ship and her functions as well, it's not all just for guests.
  3. That is on Beyond/Ascent/Xcel, Reflection and Silhouette do have improved Sunset Bars compared to the older S-Class ships, but just have some stairs going down to the outside OVC area.
  4. Obviously everyone's experiences are subjective, but when NPS is averaging 8/9 out of 10, that indicates that the majority are indeed loving it.
  5. Never said it did, but an extroverted, hyped-up sugar monster would almost certainly have a worse time on a Celebrity cruise than a Royal one 😉 My hyperbolic statement was more about people forgetting that, much like adults, kids have an entire spectrum of interests, social needs, and energy types, but you'd only really notice the EHUSMs out and about by virtue of them being EHUSMs 😄 (If people can use DW/DH/DS/DD, I can create EHUSM)
  6. I think people forget that not all kids are extroverted, hyped-up sugar-monsters.
  7. Thanks for that, I was getting confused as a UK person. Generally in terms of quality/price the UK goes 'generic steak' < rump < sirloin < ribeye < fillet. Sometimes you can get tomahawks or other cuts, but the above the the standard selection you'd find in a supermarket.
  8. Plot twist, they were born in 1923
  9. (IMO) Oasis and older Royal ships < MIllenium Class < Quantum = Solstice Class < Icon = Edge Class
  10. I have done early May (plenty of snow when taking the train up the mountain in Flam) and late June (still plenty of roaring waterfalls in Geiranger), so either works. The constants for both trips were rainy Bergen, drizzly Alesund, and complete scorchers in Stavanger (30ºC / 90ºF)
  11. The next few decades are going to be wild, given that people currently in their 40s/early 50s grew up with 90s stuff, so plenty of pop/rap/EDM, when I'm in my 60s, it won't be Sinatra/Abba as the default, that's for sure.
  12. It is also a pet peeve of mine, these gorgeous ladies are not mere things xD The boat thing also gets me, however, as my wife proved, technically they are boats. All ships are boats, but not all boats are ships. As for nicknames, well, as we have moved away from referring to them as things, I think nicknames are ok. I use Sillie...
  13. They don't get on at all, I have seen this happen in the past. Most ships will aim to slightly over-book, as there are always going to be last-minute cancellations or no-shows, and in the event of everyone turning up, first they will cut back any crew/entertainment allocated rooms, then finally offer existing guests alternatives (like flights offering cashback AND an alternative flight to people who choose to be bumped from an overbooked flight). It doesn't happen often, as there is a lot of trended data and inventory management, but sometimes it does.
  14. I've not experienced MSC myself, but going from people's posts I get the feeling that the experience between the YC and normal passengers is far closer to the class segregation that people often complain about, whereas the general experience on Celebrity is roughly the same for non-Retreat guests as Retreat guests. As in, you NEED to be in YC for MSC to be good, but Celebrity it good both in and out of The Retreat.
  15. Apex/Ascent would be my choices, gyms are awesome on those
  16. The later ships built in a given class tend to be better as they improve on the learnings from the first few. Silhouette and Reflection are better (imo) layout-wise that the earlier Solstice Class ships. Beyond and Ascent are the same for Edge Class. In both instances, the sunset bar is much improved in the later ships in a given class. Beyond has been my favourite Celebrity ship over all.
  17. I believe there is also a combined struggle with a lot of cruise staff (regardless of brand) quitting the industry during Covid, so coupled with new X ships each needing like 1.5k staff, backfilling has been tricky for the entire industry.
  18. I assume the rule relates to where the food/serving stations are
  19. CC reviews are in no way comparable to actual NPS scores. 1 country alone has had over 15k NPS scores since the start of August, and CC reviews would be from global users.
  20. The sunset bars on Edge/Apex disspoint me, Beyond/Ascent have MUCH better designs (like how the later Solstice class ships also have better sunset bars), but not enough to put me off Edge/Apex.
  21. As with so many things, it's all subjective. We've just turned 40, but even 5 years ago Royal was too theme-park for us. We've also sailed Azamara once, and whilst it was nice and port access that a small ship gave us was great, we were also bored to death after 9pm every night. The ultra-luxury or more traditional lines would also be too stuffy for us, so Celebrity actually sits in a somewhat perfect niche for us. Edge Class is pretty much the perfect experience for us, and we don't even do The Retreat. Virgin would be the only other one that might fit the bill, but even that might be a bit too party vibe for us.
  22. There is very little risk of that happening with Celebrity, the 3 brands have their positioning, zero reason to include things so specific to Royal on Celebrity ships, even the family positioning is more for older teens. If Celebrity ever add a waterslide to one of their ships, I will go buy a hat and eat it. 😄
  23. Didn't you know? EVERYONE under 40 just wants to party and drink 24/7. 😄 I have been sailing with Celebrity exclusively since I was 30 (so for the past decade) because it ISN'T like Carnival/Royal, my wife and I like to relax on our holidays. Might also explain why we love the Celebrity production shows over boring Broadway/West End style musicals.
  24. Yep, wife and I are avid escape roomers, and loved this (and won)
