  1. I'll never make pinnacle for the same reason, mostly booking with other lines since 2022. Free drinks do not make up for cuts to service and food quality for those of us who travel in JS and below. I'll be back on RCI early next year for an itinerary I like, hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised by the MDR quality by that point.
  2. The problem arises when I need both cards to go obtain drinks, and my traveling companion is staying in the cabin. Then the folded paper or business card goes in the slot.
  3. It's not. The seventies were just a couple decades ago!
  4. If it is after 6 pm the wine glass is my constant companion.
  5. We were not allowed off when we were there 2 years ago, even though we were supposed to be. Half of our car made it off before they stopped us. Scenery was blocked by trees and shrubs most of the trip. Very underwhelming experience, other than the "been there done that" factor. The white pass railroad in Skagway is excellent though, so if you do the Flam trip and find it so-so, don't skip the white pass if you find yourself in Alaska! We were on Jewel, and it did not have the waffle stop, just the ride.
  6. You might want to schedule an appt with your doctor to have some things checked out after that 😈
  7. The 2650 capacity is for double occupancy, considered 100%. Max capacity is often 115-120%, with RCL Icon having a max capacity of a whopping 135%. Wiki lists Koningsdam as max passenger and crew at 4,173, with a crew of 1,036. So max passengers at 3,137, roughly 118% of double occupancy.
  8. I was on the March 10th-17th sailing that @0106 was on, and will concur that the temperature was comfortable.
  9. Thanks for the heads up, I edited my post to clarify extra large balcony.
  10. All the extra large balcony V cabins on the Nieuw Statendam (and I assume Pinnacle class in general) are quads. I really hope they don't try and reassign me from 5096. I'm not sure even a vista upgrade would be worth losing that balcony for Norway.
  11. The judgment of the Captain would not come into play until embarkation day, and is pretty well stated that it is for reasons of health, safety, or the unsuitability of the passenger or passengers. "Or lodging" is included to address land portions of a trip, such as are found on the Alaskan cruisetours, not staterooms. I am surprised the contract does not state they can change your state room at their discretion, and I am pretty sure I have seen that in past contracts on other lines. Although I'm not sure what recourse one would have other than complaining.
  12. App is working for, but I am currently on the Nieuw Statendam.
  13. We're you logged in under your google/g-mail account when you did the setup? If you have Gmail check that.
  14. Thanks. I put it through on March 5th and is already approved.
  15. I have a few extra stainless steel water bottles that cap airtight. I guess I will just fill em up by the glass the first day or two so I have some for in cabin.
  16. I just wish they would waive the corkage fee if you have a beverage package.
  17. Last was the Rotterdam. The next 2 cruises on dam ships are both on the Nieuw Statendam. So I think my favorite dam ship right now is the Nieuw Statendam.
  18. No address on the statements I have used the last 2 years, the only identifier is my name. Your address should be blacked out, having a current address on the form may be a reason to reject it.
  19. Just make sure you don't forget your travel documents (passport or otherwise)! See ya'll next week!
  20. My guess is that since they include beverage spend under the HIA, they just calculate at Max so passengers do not just order drinks up to the limit each day and just dump them out, or promote overconsumption.
  21. As I am still a working stiff, my adult beverage consumption is fairly non-existent on work nights, or max of 2 beers or glasses of wine. Saturday night is usually date night with the wife, in which I also limit myself to no more than 2 adult beverages, as I have no desire for a DUI. One of my favorite things about cruising is that I can imbibe to my hearts desire and not be the one getting the ticket for blowing 1.2 while driving a cruise ship. Does that count as admitting I like to get loaded? 😇
  22. Prime filet from Sam's Club, when available, choice otherwise. I have been known to bring home whole tenderloins on occasion, but only when i find prime. Tuna steaks and grouper or Maui filets from my local fish market, which I properly blacken (cast iron over high heat, need a decent gas grill for this). Local grocery store has pretty good extra trim whole pork tenderloins. Typically eat out on Saturday night (date night with the wife). Good local Italian place for pizza or takeout. The wife and I are not large eaters, so all of these will feed us for two nights. And I picked up 6 lbs of King Crab last week at a great price. Fresh asparagus is on the menu quite often. Sometime this year I will learn to make escargot. We eat fairly simple to prepare (I'm still a working stiff, but 40 hours a week, not crazy hours) but tasty at home most of the week.
  23. Another consideration is that US citizens on a closed loop from Seattle do not require passports.
  24. The foreign port requirement is only good for closed loop cruises, those that start and end in the same US port. For cruises that start and end at different US ports, the itinerary must include a "distant" foreign port, which Canada does not qualify as. Hence the statement that the coastal cruise being discussed would have to end in Canada to not violate the PVSA. There are a few exceptions built into the act, such as for Puerto Rico, but LA to Seattle is not one of them.
