  1. Not how the original info was presented, I stand corrected.
  2. New policy, just started NO!!!!!! $4.95. As I read it, if you order something that has a fee like specialty juice you pay for the item and they add the 20% to that item. Not 20% to the delivery fee.
  3. My upcoming trip looks great on paper, it will be up to the airlines to make it happen. Since I'm not a fan of running through the airport to catch my next flight, I'm very happy to see 4hr layovers. Only "tight" connection is in Newark (2:45) where I have to clear customs - but that's why I have Global Entry. According to the invoice, NCL paid almost $1,800 for my ticket, 3x what I paid. Who knows what I would have had to pay. I've used NCL for a number of cruises and they've done a good job. Was everything perfect - no. But the majority of my flight hickups have been with flights I've booked, not the NCL ones.
  4. Pretty standard to send out the "we're running behind" email to everyone somewhere about day 60. As to requesting a non-stop flight, that just isn't the way it works, unless you contract with premium air in the first place and pay the full fare. But maybe you'll get lucky.
  5. Prepaid DSC fees are fully refundable (per NCL FAQs) if you cancel. Also the FAQs state prepayment can be made up to 24 hrs before your cruise. I've never had any glitches but I also book directly with NCL.
  6. I believe the only time you don't get shareholder OBC is when NCL comps your cruise for some reason - so for example if they give free cruises to travel agency staff or NCL employees. CAS isn't actually NCL as far as I know. It would be interesting to know if you can get the OBC if you win a cruise through NCL - slot tournaments, bingo/pull-tab winners etc. Not that there is any danger that I'd win 'cause you gotta actually enter to win lol!
  7. Supposed to sign a slip - yes. Does it always happen - no. I don't get the beverage package so sometimes get a soda from the bar. I was charged for a soda and a beer (I don't drink beer), never got a slip to sign. Guessing they didn't finalize the transaction so added 2 orders together. Had to go to Guest Services twice to get the charge for the beer removed.
  8. Never had an issue requesting it before final payment, have done it many times. I requested OBC a few weeks ago for late May and mid September cruises - no problem, took about 5 business days. If doing multiple requests, make sure you do them as separate requests. You should get a case # when you send in the request, you might or might not get verification when the OBC is applied. I just did 2 requests - I got an email for both but only got an amenity invoice for one. Sometimes I don't get anything.
  9. Guess that depends on the cruise and cabin choice. I just got my upgrade, OV to balcony, minimum bid. Leaving next week, Christmas and New Years cruise. But everything above balcony has been showing sold out for awhile.
  10. Knowledge of onboard staff varies widely. I've had some that went out of their way to make every possible adjustment and fix issues my land- based pcc couldn't manage. Then others that made a royal mess of things. But for me the room upgrade can be an advantage. I did learn that the pcc who booked your cruise will get the booking credit for anything booked onboard. In my case, I ditched my old pcc so really don't want him to get any credit. So I book anything new with my current pcc before I get onboard, then apply any onboard perks, so far so good doing it that way.
  11. Did exactly the same my first cruise! Nowadays I've seen them block access to the cabins.
  12. The screenshot you posted is from the travel section, has nothing to do with using points for NCL. The link on the accounts overview will take you to the page with the Rewards tab. The rewards tab will take you to the page I posted earlier, with the link to the NCL rewards page.
  13. Not at all what I said. To repeat, "To get the info on your rewards, you have to go to your BofA account."
  14. To get the info on your rewards, you have to go to your BofA account. Anything but cruise upgrades are there. To use your points for an upgrade, you have to call the world points number. Just like it says at the bottom of the NCL world points web page.
  15. For inside thru balcony, they will upgrade within the same classification. So basically a better location. I don't know if they do the same with other classifications. Sometimes there are additional perks, I did get an additional 10% a couple of times - which they also applied to my existing reservations. Not always well advertised, always pays to ask. You can also buy Cruise Next certificates so get a discount on your deposit. Certificates are worth $250, you pay $125-$150 and can use 1, sometimes 2 for a future cruise.
  16. Not if your CC gives statement credit for travel purchases. With a 3% rebate, net charge for fees is zero.
  17. When you board on day 1, they will confiscate. But I have it on good authority that if if you have a bottle of Pepsi in your backpack when you board in most ports, they probably won't stop you. Some ports even have a duty free shop in the terminal after you go through security - and they just might sell Pepsi.... But sadly, finding Pepsi in some ports can be difficult.
  18. I understood exactly what you meant. I sometimes book a year or more in advance, do mock bookings periodically to monitor price changes. I don't recall seeing changes to port fees.
  19. As far as I know, everyone pays the same. Seems to be the same when doing mock bookings.
  20. I didn't misunderstand. They charge you $xxx for port fees & taxes for your cruise. If by missing a port they wind up collecting money over and above the fees for the entire cruise then you are due a refund. But they can also use that money to recoup losses on ports where they underestimated costs.
  21. Well, I was going to refer you to the current discussion on port fees but it appears to have disappeared... Bottom line, what you pay in port fees is an estimate of the actual cost - made years before you sail. If NCL has overestimated fees and there's an overage then you are due a refund. Otherwise, no refund.
  22. Flying where? They use charters in a few places (Papeete for example) so no deviation allowed. But I've never asked for one that far out.
