  1. Youth is wasted on the young. It's only as they age they will begin to realise what they have lost. Avril
  2. That's what we tell ourselves, unfortuately the body doesn't agreeπŸ˜’ Avril
  3. Cudworth is Barnsley Harry. It's only a mile away from me. Just darn't road. My accent is neither one nor the other. Here they think I 'talk posh' and further south they hear the northern tone. Neither Mum nor Dad ever lost their southern accent. They always drank their tea from a capπŸ˜‰ Avril
  4. Charlie Williams was the typical Barnsley accent that I understood, but this was more the slang words than accent. Maftin, brossend and croggy are three of the old slang words that still stick in my memory. Avril
  5. It's the same with the strong original Barnsley dialect. There was a column in the Barnsley Chronicle, 'Owd Ned' irc, and was a snippet of gossip but written in the old dialect. To me it was gobbledygook, but Frank's dad understood every word. Sis
  6. And to think we all laughed at Robbie The Robot - entertaining but unbelievableπŸ€– Avril
  7. I agree, we have only had the odd hiccup, nothing major. All these problems now being reported, seem to me, to be post covid and larger ships, so not only more cabins per steward, but also new inexperienced crew? Avril
  8. I would take it all with a very large pinch of salt Jean. Avril
  9. I hope your Mum and Dad are getting better now Sue. Avril
  10. @Beckett Good morning Jane. I was a little worried when I read your earlier post, and relieved when I saw the rest of them. I'm glad you reconsidered. I know some of the posters on other threads can be a little......erm, shall we say truculent? Try reading between the lines Jane, or referring back to their earlier posts and see how they change their ideas to suit their agenda. It's funπŸ˜‰ Or as others have said, use the block button. A while ago we had an episode with a nasty new poster who had taken a particular dislike to me. no idea why. Loved Graham though☺️ I logged in late one morning and I don't know what she had been saying about me, as no-one wanted to upset me, but my friends had all reported her posts and had them taken down, and blocked from the CC forum That's the wonderful caring community we have on here and the odd one or two are easily ignored, or blocked. Stay with us Jane, it won't be the same without you.x Avril
  11. Same here Phil. First bank account with Yorkshire Bank and now more than happy with Virgin. Avril
  12. In 12 cruises with P&O we have never had a problem Jane. We register one debit card on board and at the end of the cruise the money is taken from the bank about 3 or 4 days later. Maybe different banks work different ways. This was pre-covid of course. Avril
  13. I can't say I agree with you John. I was put in charge of our finances when we were married and for 58 years have worked to the old maxim, if you can't afford it then you don't buy it. Apart from a mortgage I have paid cash for everything. We are comfortable, a healthy bank balance and apart from the usual household bills, owe no-one a penny. I'm content. Avril
  14. Unfortunately, as strange as it may seem, not everyone uses credit cards, we don't. Avril
  15. What the nouveau riche fail to understand is you can't buy class. You either have it or you don't, regardless the size of the wallet. Or the mouth.πŸ˜‰ Avril
  16. Maybe you were just unlucky on that cruise. We, like Jean, have sailed on Aurora many times and haven't had a problem. Avril
  17. Noo, please don't say that Andy.😒 I still have fond memories of a 4 week Eastern Med cruise on the lovely old girl. Leave me with my dreams.☺️ Avril
  18. We're slowly getting there thanks, it's a long slog though. I don't know what the flippin' eck it was, but it's taking weeks to get our energy back. We recovered quicker after 'you know what'. We've been doing some gardening these last couple of days so things are on the up. Might wait a bit longer before joining the gymnastics club thoughπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜ Avril
  19. Good morning and a very Happy Easter to one and all 🐣🌷🐰 The weather's not too good here at the moment, overcast and misty, but nothing planned so nothing spoilt. I hope the sun is shining where you are and your Easter Sunday is peaceful. Unless you're celebrating in parts of Greece of course🧨😁 Avril
  20. Everyone is so loud now. No-one talks anymore, they shout at each other. We will soon have a society full of deaf people with extra large texting thumbs. Avril
