  1. See post 730. I cannot answer as I only do fixed on Britannia.
  2. Maybe you have not cruised with P&O. They have always had tea and coffee in cabins.
  3. A walking tour of the whole of Iona would tire me out. And I am reasonably mobile! Prefer the smaller ships!
  4. Solo meetings in one of the bars every day on all ships. No tours!
  5. I can only echo the sentiments above. I have been holidaying solo for 20 years. Cruising is the best for solos (have done more than 70) and have found the smaller ships to be the most friendly and sociable. Go for it and you will have no regrets. Happy cruising!
  6. The canning museum is actually very good. Interesting but maybe not to kids.
  7. Read it all. Lovely post. Well said.
  8. Lots to see within walking distance of ship. If you have been there before, I can recommend the Stavanger countryside trip. Very interesting, covers everything and good value. Fjord boat trip not worth it if you are cruising in the fjords anyway!
  9. Just done this cruise. Not many shuttles in Norway and the couple we had were free.
  10. Just off Aurora (Cabin E151). Very comfortable, seaview. Great Norway cruise. Enjoy!
  11. No. Definitely 6 and 8. Thought it was strange!
  12. Nitpicking. Obviously I was not talking about everyone, just me!
  13. Plus, I do not want to travel to Dover (or Tilbury)! Southampton is easy for me.
  14. There is a ferry in Mykonos that goes from the port to the town pier.
  15. It's the "knit and natter" lot that bother me! All those clacking needles!!! JOKE!.
  16. Britannia used to have a good selection of films on the cabin TV. Don't know if they still do as I did not look last time. Have seen latest releases in the theatre though.
  17. Have stayed at Holiday Inn over 50 times with no problem. Mind you, my car is not worth nicking (and there are always lots of more expensive vehicles there)!
  18. Lots queueing at 5.30 for freedom opening at 6. Think they may be after tables for two, of which there are not many. I always dine fixed at 8. No queues! Fixed times on Aurora were 6 and 8.
  19. Also, look at some of the hotels' cruise packages. Usually include room, parking for 15 nights, breakfast and taxi to and from ship. Have used them many times. Very convenient and an extra night's holiday.
  20. I don't need speciality restaurants, WiFi, room service, coffee, ice cream, etc. P&O balcony cabins are quite big enough for me on my own. Obc pays mostly for my drinks and occasional excursion then 10% off. So these extras are not worth the additional cost for me. Saga small ships do look nice though. Maybe in future.
  21. On Arcadia Xmas cruise with doors open all night, people we're wearing coats in the pub! Expect that when going North at that time of year though.
  22. Would not pay that much for a 14 nighter. Paid just over £4000 for balcony on Arcadia in July. 19 nights, plus £480 obc. Better value and from Southampton.
