  1. Saint Teresa of the Andes PS yes Rudesheim is in Germany
  2. Is it from the musical museum in Rudesheim?
  3. On the nights there wasn't a quiz or game after dinner, or it was one we didnt feel interested in - then we took a cocktail or a coffee and watched TV to wind down after tea - like we do at home. We took a fire-stick with programs loaded from home, we didn't watch anything on the TV channels there. We sat with different people not set dinner companions. One night DH wasnt feeling well and he had room service for dinner - bit squashy but room enough in the cabin. For one person at least - I still went to the dining room. Some people regularly had breakfast in their cabins or on their balconies - we never did but we saw breakfast trays outside other rooms.
  4. I don't think general conversation about cruise or travel history are off limits or boasting at all - and that is coming from me who has not done as much as some other people Have you been on a cruise before/ to wherever we are before/ where are you from/ did you enjoy whatever activity we did today - they all seem good starters to me - and Ive not encountered anyone who then launches into boast-listing all their travels and their top level suites. and I care - or at least am interested in discussing - where other people have been and what holidays they enjoyed. I don't see that as a 'nobody else cares' topic the way eg discussing your medical history might be., These common starters were usually the type other people used too and they probably work for any setting - cruising. land tours etc
  5. getting back to dress codes - we were on Scenic but I imagine most Europe river cruises have similar expectations. For the gala dinners I wore smart black pants and a blingy top, ( any dressy blouse above the level of t-shirt would do) husband wore men's smart pants and a collared smart shirt. Some men wore polo shirts A few men wore ties but they were in minority - perhaps 1/4 of total men. Nobody wore suits. It was warm weather so some ladies wore dresses. Not ball room gown formal dresses but the semi-casual sort you might wear out to a restarant dinner
  6. Agreed - why? - everyone knows what it means. Same as it means on all forums. Clearly you do too OP (there's another well known abbreviation, I'm not typing out Original Poster every time either) so not seeing what the problem is.
  7. My 2c worth - post the pic first and then add clues if people are struggling to get there.
  8. oh disappointed - I thought I was so clever working out 'Hamberg' from the clue about it sounds like pork burning ðŸĪŠ
  9. Lake Tekapo - yes thats it! Your turn...
  10. my photos are taken by me or of me, taken by somebody else I guess interesting/boring is subjective - can't see anything wrong with rail lines myself. yes picture posting, as I mentioned a while ago, can be tricky - hard to get the right balance between the absolutely obvious like Sydney opera house or Stonehenge (the UK one!) and so obscure that nobody has a chance. Post a pic, answer questions to narrow it down if need be, give clues if asked - and lets all enjoy the game 🙂
  11. yes I forgot about that. We did go to a concert after dinner in Vienna.
