  1. Overalls aren’t always that casual. The trend is towards linen overalls in the MeMade scene and those can be a lot easier to dress up or down.
  2. I meant 95% of children in general. Celebrity has done a good job in advertising itself as adult oriented and that 5% seem to generally be the only kids onboard. Oh and not my grandkids I’m in my 30s 🤣 niece and nephew. ok now I’m curious where the magical egg rolls are from lol
  3. This is such a big struggle. I am so close to making it all fit in a carry on approved bag. One thing I love is my perfume atomizer I got from Amazon and filled with my favorite scent, it’s small and travels great. I shop at Sephora and got a new mini mascara for free (used points) for my next few cruises. The Sephora rewards bazar is a great spot for mini and travel sized items. The birthday gift I get from them I always pick the skincare bundle because it’s the perfect travel size. shampoo, conditioner, styling product, body wash, toothpaste, cleanser, moisturizer, eye cream, lip mask, primer, foundation, mascara, lash glue, sunscreen, after sun, essential oils, perfume, and laundry soap. when I’m on vacation I love putting makeup on before going to dinner. I just bring exactly the amount I need instead of big bottles and the weight is much more manageable
  4. I love a simple little dress as a cover up but since I am so sensitive to the sun I just made myself a new cardigan with a UPF 50+ fabric. Can’t wait to bring it on my future cruises. lately I bought a simple above the knee dress at Costco and can dress it up for dinner or wear it as a cover up, a LBD is so versatile.
  5. I find the pattern Sirocco by Deer and Doe to be so flattering. I love jumpsuits now that I can make my own made to fit my body. Long flight it’s not a great option but I can’t wait to bring my two new jumpsuits on my next cruise.
  6. Your making the assumption that you are the majority in refusing to drink out of a box with a plastic spout. If NCL has successfully made the switch on a cruise line and millions of others in North America have as well then why do you assume X customers are so “special “ that they refuse. Enjoy your cheap plastic bottles of water and I’ll choose my alkaline spring water in environmentally friendly packaging.
  7. Agreed but that “adults don’t drink out of cartons” is just false. Because cartons are not mainstream yet in the US is another issue. Canadian customers are not that different to Americans we just have different products available to us. Also NCL has switched to cartons and there and most customers are American adults. I just don’t think the idea of drinking out of a carton is such a big problem. The environmental impact is much lower than plastic, it is considered higher end in many markets, and it is easier to transport due to its squareish shape.
  8. Well maybe that’s your experience but where I live (Ottawa, Canada) every Starbucks and most other coffee shops now sell Flow water in cartons and adults buy and drink from them without any issue. It’s not like drinking from the open spout of school milk.
  9. Flow water is a better shape which is what NCL uses. If I have to get bottled water it’s been my choice at home for years.
  10. So disappointed if this is the case. I hate those plastic bottles. If they have the water cartons like those on NCL I’d be much happier. I don’t like the plastic part of the plastic bottles, the sound they make when people scrunch them, the look of them. The use of those plastic bottles really cheapens the Celebrity experience. I’m travelling with my mom next month and if it’s the plastic bottles she still won’t be able to open them. She has arthritis and a bunch of other problems with her hands so she will just ask the bartender or me to open them for her.
  11. I was just thinking of my niece who is 12 and what cruise I would recommend for her. She is a very special kid and I would say Celebrity or higher would be best for her character. Keep in mind this kid eats in 5 star restaurants and flies first class since she was born. She is happier sketching on her iPad or reading a book than playing with other kids. She easily gets over stimulated by noise and lights like those common when kids are playing in a large group. The hardest part of being around her is that she is so soft spoken that you don’t know what she is saying sometimes. Now my nephew is a different story. Same age but he would love RCL. He is incredibly polite and has great emotional intelligence but he likes to play and have fun and be silly. If only all parents would select their family vacations based on what is the best vibe for their kids. I’d say 95% should NOT be on Celebrity.
  12. I definitely don’t see celebrity as a family line. If anything I find the marketing to not reflect the reality. It skews much older than I expected. This is why I’m trying out different lines. The decor, food, and service match what I wanted but the clientele and entertainment do not. If the clientele was slightly younger I would be planning a girlfriends cruise for sure.
  13. I couldn’t believe it either but on Gem I’m getting 50.00 per port and I’m guaranteed not even FAS. Makes the excursions I choose incredibly affordable.
  14. Thank you for posting this I hadn’t seen the news yet. Was actually reading an article about tourism issues long term at the glacier this morning.
  15. Yes but even if let’s say there is 3 times the amount of people if the ratio holds for that type of cruise it would be 9 children onboard. I’ll post in 6 weeks when I’m back on the same ship southbound and it looks like we are sailing at 100% capacity.
  16. M class in Alaska last September had 3 children onboard. One of which was adorable and very well behaved, the other I never really saw, and the last one the parents really should have not done a late dinner every night (past bedtime with time change was wayyyyy to late and the kid was difficult because of it). Literally that was it for kids. Smaller ship with less kid friendly amenities, during the school year, longer cruises, and less kid fun destinations is the list I try to follow. The more boxes you check the less likely to have kids onboard. I am slightly dreading the screaming children I will encounter on Freedom of the Seas (March, Caribbean, 8 night, full on water park on board). It was not my choice but I don’t want to miss this family cruise.
  17. My first cruise was a solo at 32 and my next solo is a 15 day TA on NCL. There’s a great solo board on CC worth checking out. Best part of cruising solo is not having to share small cabins with someone and having the king size bed to yourself.
  18. Agreed, my carry on is that heavy for very important reasons in particular it has equipment that can not be in checked luggage. When I fly for work I carry rechargeable stage lighting which in checked luggage could risk the planes safety. This is not overpacking, it’s following safety requirements. Of my 130lb of luggage only 25lb are personal items like clothing, toiletries, and footwear.
  19. Someone actually became paralyzed on an air canada flight when a passengers extremely heavy carry on fell and broke his neck. There’s talk of AC limiting carry on weight as well. I can lift a 30+lb carry on without difficulty. I only travel that heavy when on business though.
  20. My cruise was equal to $890USD for 15 days interior room. I went with guaranteed because the free at sea wasn’t of value to me. So far over 1/3 of the staterooms are available and I’ll keep checking in to gauge what kind of bid I think might work. I’m only a few days away from final payment and the price has gone up since I booked. I figure it may drop but by then I won’t be able to benefit. If the rate drops can I upgrade for the difference even after paying in full?
  21. I’m a solo(single) 30-something female travel newly obsessed with cruising. I rather book more cruises in an interior cabin since the most time I spend in my cabin is sleeping and getting ready for dinner. With that said I plan on bidding for some upgrades for my TA on NCL Gem. Crossing fingers that it will be successful but will still have an amazing trip if it is not.
  22. The general rule is 50lb for normal luggage unless it’s an “overweight” which is 70lb max. AA is the only airline I know of that has this perk for its frequent flyers of 3 oversized/overweight pieces each. Keep in mind however airports don’t process the oversize/overweight the same way as other luggage because it is heavier and staff have to be aware of this and follow proper protocol. Yes I can lift 150 pounds but if I pick up a suitcase expecting it to be between 35 and 50 I will lift it differently than if it were 70lb. Loaders have very difficult jobs and aren’t actually paid very well considering the wear and tear they put on their bodies. The 50lb limit is to keep porters and other staff safe.
  23. If they did it during the season then the fans would be at a game and not on a cruise.
  24. 50lb is a standard for health and safety as well. If a staff gets injured lifting your overweight luggage… I would recommend just sticking to 50lb.
  25. How where the shows? I hope the quality has improved since last year.
