  1. And most meal options are available online only and you have to preorder them. The food options aren’t great for one of my upcoming flights so I have to make sure to pick up something at the airport during my layover in Iceland.
  2. I can check in a few days if no one else has any news.
  3. Haha I love how you didn’t mention the agent. I disliked the agents I’ve tried dealing with in the past but am thinking of moving to that agency. Always wonder what people mean by big agents on CC but never have an idea of what they mean so thank you lol.
  4. Even better the “guest ticket booklet” writes 1 per person in one spot and 2 per person in another.
  5. I like a hard side carry on and a 26” personally. The 4 wheel spinners are my favourite but the double wheels on each I find holds up better than the singles. I buy my luggage at Marshall’s/Winners (if your in Canada), good selection and great pricing. So far I’ve only cruised Celebrity and the beds where quite high and could fit pretty much any normal sized luggage underneath.
  6. But why is it standard to charge more than double for a single to even start with.
  7. Just did a test of this and found a sailing that was 404%. It seems to come down to guaranteed not being an option for solo which is just absurd. This was a 6 night Cabo and San Diego cruise which I selected at random.
  8. Raise your hand if you ever thought “round tomatoes” would have such a hot topic on CC lol
  9. We are flying in the day before for our southbound Alaska this week but taking the train from Anchorage to Seward then a 5 hour tour before boarding. I’ll be happy to be getting changed into something fresh for dinner after such a full day.
  10. We are flying the day before but we have a very busy schedule and shopping may not be possible. I have a plan if my luggage gets lost on my way to Rome in December but this one is harder because of the timing and the destination. Crossing fingers nothing gets lost now.
  11. Having run through many airports over the years and being heavier chested I always wear a comfy sports bra. I love my Knix because it holds everything in without uncomfortable compression. Depending what footwear I’m bringing I either wear my Vejas (leather sneakers) or my Blundstones on my flight. I also like having a blanket scarf or shawl when I travel which can make a simple outfit stand out and also be used as a blanket. for domestic flights I like wearring yoga jeans, a sleeveless top, and a nice blazer. For long haul it’s tapered black stretchy pants (with pockets), a loose tencel tshirt, and a cardigan. Both I always have a blanket scarf or large silk scarf with me as well. When I land I often will change into a different pair of pants but at least during my flight I was able to relax or sleep.
  12. I just got a new pair of heels for my upcoming cruises. I can never find wedges I like and nothing with a block heel fit me so I got a lower stiletto. Really comfy heel from Clark’s and low enough that I can walk and dance for a while. I’ll wear hose just so they are comfier to break in on this next cruise.
  13. For Alaska I’m hiking so I have a waterproof backpack with my essentials which includes 2 bottles of water, body glide, a spare pair of socks etc. For my trips which are more tourist type attractions or while travelling for work I love my new DellaQ mini messenger. I comfortably wear in under my arm/boob when in a crowd. It holds all my essentials including a small water bottle, snack, small knitting project, phone, wallet, a thin shawl, sunscreen, body glide, lip balm, small pill bottle, inhaler etc. They are made for knitters and have a built in thread cutter and attached stitch markers but unless you are a knitter you would never know. There are pockets meant for circular knitting needles inside which are a great hiding spot for my passport. the thing I love most is that it doesn’t look like a travel bag. When I’m traveling I try not to look like a tourist. Blend in like a local and you are less likely to be targeted by pickpockets and usually get better service.
  14. If I’ve been traveling all day I just want to change into something clean and comfy that looks effortless. My boarding bag for my cruise in a few days has two outfits each. This is just in case our luggage gets lost since we have tight connecting flights. For our first evening at MDR it’s a little black dress and I brought a large silk scarf (Alaska trip) and my mom has a cute cardigan with hers. a quick application of gloss or lipstick and mascara is all I’m doing for makeup.
  15. There’s a thread on Celebrity right now about them charging WAY more for solos. It seems the trick is to book a ghost companion. Right now I have my RCI cruise booked with a ghost and I will either change the name or cancel the second person before final payment. I wonder if the ghost is a no show if MSC will refund the second guests port fees?
  16. Haha all good. None of the Canadian airlines offer luggage tracking really but I have AirTags. I’m flying Alaskan for the first time and originally they had a 35 minute layover which thankfully is now 45 minutes but that is still really really tight for luggage in my experience. In the last 2 years over 20% of my luggage has gone missing/delayed.
  17. What could not be done once may be possible another time. Policies and intent from a company change sometimes as much as the weather and then you get individuals that view things differently. Being kind, polite, and professional gets you a lot further in life than being a know it all or rude. I always say being a friendly Canadian is one of my best travel assets. When the airline lost my luggage and nothing was being done I ended up talking to a baggage agent who went above and beyond and contacted a friend who had by chance noticed my very unique looking luggage the day before in a warehouse at another airport. Had she been following normal operational procedures it would have taken a lot longer to get my luggage back. She went out of her way because we were kind and compassionate. It doesn’t always result in a better outcome but at the very least will make my perception of the situation better. I wrote a post with questions about reunification with luggage during a cruise but didn’t get any responses that knew anything about the process. Do you have any experience with loosing luggage before a cruise? Is it an SOL till you get back home? What’s the process?
  18. Ice makers in hotels and restaurants are often times so dirty and gross. Paying $300 a night and the ice machine had black gunk coming out of it. I appreciate the person who entertained themselves by testing water onboard the ship.
  19. Dog poop bags are so handy to have. I need to add a roll in my suitcase.
  20. Not on a cruise but at a water park I was not permitted to wear my spf top. This was over 10 years ago however and I think they have become more normalized now but still it was absurd. There is a lot of different spf fabric from chlorine resistant swimwear to much thicker legging fabric. If it’s swimwear I would not see a reason for them to question it.
  21. If the airline lost it they will have the best coverage to replace your contents. Have you saved receipts of your purchases of essentials? You can claim reasonable amounts of clothing, toiletries, or shoes purchased etc. Did you file with the airline right away stating the luggage was lost? This should be done immediately at the airport if the airline lost it (or delayed). Airline has misplaced my luggage many times but only once that I had to put in a claim. It was missing for 3 weeks on my way to a major business trip. Now I have AirTags in every single bag including carry ons and even my purse. keep in mind how much the airline will cover is based on which countries your traveling between. Don’t depend on the airline to tell you, know your air passengers rights and get what your owed.
  22. We have AirTags in everything. After all my luggage went missing last year for 3 weeks it’s been a lifesaver. I actually have a box being shipped across Canada right now to meet me after the cruise and have an AirTag in it so I can track it more precisely.
  23. I am flying this week and have a very tight connection which increases the risk of lost luggage. We have pretty bad luck for having luggage go missing and are experienced in dealing with it on business trips but never on a cruise. What is the process for being reunited with luggage on Celebrity? Is there someone we should call with celebrity? What do we tell the airline when it comes to where to return our bags to? Can they coordinate to have it brought to the ship partway through the voyage? We are packing the bare essentials in a carry on which can get us through a few days but everything else will be in checked luggage. Usually I have time to replace items but with this being a southbound Alaskan cruise it’s a harder schedule to deal with lost clothing and shoes. Lost skincare etc can be easily replaced onboard thankfully. I like being prepared and knowing what to do if it does happen will help me start my trip relaxed no matter the situation. Thank you for sharing your experience or advice.
  24. I thought celebrity would be my preferred cruise line but they are loosing me. Hopefully NCL meets my expectations. My next cruise has no singles supplement at all and lots of perks.
  25. Haha so itchy label is a good reminder.
