  1. The only safe place to park for a Miami cruise is directly at the Port Of Miami. I have read too many sad posts regarding damaged vehicles, shoddy shuttle service and shady business practices since I became a member of Cruise Critic in March 2002. If you want to find your vehicle in the same condition you left it stick with parking at the Port Of Miami. Many long time Cruise Critic posters will agree with me on this topic.
  2. After arriving at the terminal drop off your luggage and have your husband exit your vehicle. Have him wait while you park your car in the garage. Walk back to the terminal, meet up with your husband and enter the building to check in. After check in advise a worker that you require assistance getting on the ship . You most likely will be escorted to a location where you will wait for a crew member to help get you on the ship. As for waiting for assistance, it all depends how many handicapped passengers are waiting ahead of you and how many crew members are assigned to handicapped assistance.
  3. Rent a vehicle for the minimum twenty four hour time period. Store your luggage in the rental vehicle and drive over to either South Beach or Fort Lauderdale Beach. Walk around, have a few drinks and either a late lunch or early dinner. Return the rental vehicle, grab your luggage and check in at FLL for your flight home.
  4. A reasonably priced hotel in low season will run you around two hundred dollars a night. Low season is May, June, July and August. High season during winter months the price usually doubles. When is your cruise scheduled? There are plenty of hotels in downtown Miami close to the Port Of Miami.
  5. No hotel in Cape Canaveral is going to provide you with free shuttle service from MCO to there property. The ride takes approximately one hour. Cruise Control Transportation, Mears and Cortrans are commonly used shuttle services that are used by many Cruise Critic posters.
  6. Flew from JFK to Singapore on Singapore Airlines in January 2019 and January 2020 for two Asian cruises. The first one was a fifteen night sailing on the Holland America’s Westerdam to Thailand, Cambodia and four ports in Vietnam. The second sailing was an eight night voyage on the Norwegian Jade to Thailand and three ports in Malaysia. Both cruises were wonderful and I hope to return to the area again in the near future.
  7. Embassy Suites needs some updating and a deep cleaning. I would stick with either Hyatt Place or the Renaissance.
  8. There definitely isn’t any valet parking at the Port Of Miami. The parking garages are very big and easy to navigate. When I leave my personal vehicle at the Port Of Miami I drop off my luggage and my family at the terminal. I then drive over to the parking facility and secure my vehicle. I then walk back over to the terminal and meet up with my family for check in. Whatever you do don’t park at an off site Miami lot. Too many sad stories about damaged vehicles, thefts from vehicles and spotty shuttle service since I joined Cruise Critic in March 2002.
  9. Many hotels provide free shuttle service from MIA to there locations. Shuttle service from the hotel to the Port Of Miami requires a fee. It’s usually a charge per person. A cab, Uber or Lyft is usually cheaper.
  10. To my knowledge there are only three ships that are sailing currently from Cape Liberty now. They are the Oasis Of The Seas, Adventure Of The Seas and the Celebrity Summit. I recently cruised on the Adventure Of The Seas on June 9th. We dropped off our luggage first and noticed that only handicapped parking was available in the garage at 11:30AM. We followed vehicles in front of us and parked in the lot by what looked like an abandoned warehouse. It took only ten minutes to walk back to the terminal. At the conclusion of our five day Bermuda cruise we exited the terminal and walked over to a spot across from the terminal. My wife and son walked over to the lot and drove back over to pick me up with our luggage.
  11. I would stay overnight at a Miami hotel and then make arrangements for transportation to Fort Lauderdale in the morning. Getting off a transatlantic at 12:30AM you are going to be tired and it will be better off for you to start your trip back to Georgia in the morning.
  12. In reference to alcohol they may or may not hold it until either the last night or last day if your voyage. On a seven day sailing from Venice years ago the Security Officers allowed me to take the alcohol I purchased back to my cabin but were more interested in the numerous bottles of olive oil that was purchased from a winery.
  13. Looks like they haven’t spent a dime on upgrades to the hotel. Spend your money wisely and stay somewhere else. Hyatt Place is located near Embassy Suites and is so much better.
  14. If you looking for a car service I highly recommend Larry’s Limos. They are recommended by many long time Cruise Critic posters including myself.I have always been satisfied with there service.
  15. Check with Larry’s Limos. Reasonable prices, knowledgeable drivers and clean vehicles. I have used there services a few times and was always satisfied. Highly recommended by many Cruise Critic posters. Will definitely be more money than Uber, Lyft or a cab.
  16. The Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Blvd is a great place to stay either pre cruise or post cruise. Located close to many restaurants along with a Publix Supermarket not too far away. A short ten minute cab or Uber ride to Port Everglades. If your leaving from the Port Of Miami it’s a seventy five dollars plus tip cab ride.
  17. There is no free parking in Fort Lauderdale that I know of. Many hotels have cruise and stay packages which require you to stay at least one night before you can leave your vehicle there while you cruise. I know that Holiday Inn Express on 17th Street has that package along with Rodeway Inn on State Road 84, west of Federal Highway.
  18. Uber, Lyft or a cab should work for you. A cab should run you approximately seventy five dollars plus tip. Also check Uber or Lyft for pricing.
  19. Uber, Lyft or a cab is the way to go at that hour. You definitely will need at least two vehicles for your party with luggage. Check Uber or Lyft for pricing. A cab should run you seventy five dollars plus tip.
  20. Hotel needs a good cleaning and some updating. There are nicer places located in the same area which includes Hyatt Place.
  21. The hotel is actually located in Dania Beach, just south of FLL on Federal Highway. It’s literally five minutes south of the airport. You can easily walk to Publix Supermarket which is located east of Federal Highway, on Dania Beach Blvd. The area is mainly residential with a few restaurants within walking distance. There’s an Italian restaurant in Dania Beach Blvd which is close to the supermarket. Jaxsons is a popular ice cream joint that also serves hot dogs and hamburgers on Federal Highway, a few blocks south of the hotel. Grampas Restaurant is a popular place that specializes in breakfasts.it also has a bakery. Unfortunately it closes early so you wouldn’t be able to have dinner there but I would definitely have breakfast there before you head over to Port Everglades. Grampas was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive In’s and Dives many years ago.
  22. Most ships are sailing at close to full double occupancy. I recently sailed on Royal Caribbean’s Adventure Of The Seas five day sailing from Cape Liberty to Bermuda on June 9th. The ship holds 3,500 passengers double occupancy. At the terminal a representative advised me that there were over 3,400 passengers. They are apparently still holding back some cabins in case of Covid quarantine measures. To my knowledge there were no Covid passengers during my sailing.
  23. Southport Raw Bar on Cordova Road has excellent seafood in a casual setting. A favorite of my family when we visit Fort Lauderdale.
  24. I sailed on the Adventure Of The Seas five day sailing to Bermuda from Cape Liberty on June 9th. The ship sailed at approximately ninety five percent capacity. I was told by various crew members that they were short help and short on some items. During the five day sailing they either ran out or had limited inventory of orange juice and lemonade. The first day at the Pool Bar I asked a bar waiter for a glass of Pinot Grigio for my wife. He told me that they had absolutely no white wine available at that location because they had no one available to go down to storage to get it. Hours later I went to the Solarium Bar for an Absolute Screwdriver. When he started to make the drink he pointed to either Gray Goose or Belvedere Vodka. I settled for the Gray Goose. One night we went up to the Viking Crown and spoke with a female bar steward. She told me she worked for the company for over twenty three years. She told me she had two more short cruises left before he contract ended in mid June. She told us that managers were begging her to extend her contract for a minimum of ten more weeks because they were so shorthanded. She told them no and stated that she was considering it was time to retire.
  25. We cruised on the Adventure Of The Seas on June 9th. We parked in the outer lot and walked back to the terminal. We dropped off our luggage before parking. We paid for parking when we arrived and I didn’t notice any shuttle buses in the area.
