Any recent users of car service for LHR to London hotel?
bunnyette replied to MSPCUBS's topic in British Isles/Western Europe
Lol, ours was dressed nicely but his alarm didn’t go off so he looked a bit disheveled. We never stopped talking, but in the UK you the passenger need to initiate the conversation -

Hotel stay night prior to South Hampton cruise
bunnyette replied to dianfarmer's topic in British Isles/Western Europe
I agree with @Bob++. Much nicer to go to the port straightaway and less stressful. Highways in the UK are smaller, one bad accident can delay you for hours. I agree with a pre booked car as well. Not having to make your way to your hotel from the bus station especially with mobility issues will be worth it. -
For one night the Premiere Inn or Best Western are reasonably priced and comfortable. There area number of decent restaurants near both.

Athens is an easy port to do on your own. You can grab a taxi to the acropolis or hire one for the day. We did that…we went to the acropolis then a lovely lunch in a nice suburb by the sea and cape sounion. There are lots of recommendations on the port boards. I agree they shouldn’t have waited for the latecomer. -

I was able to put in a Canadian address and when they sent me an email confirming my booking there was an email address to contact them.

Just got on the Pride and not impressed so far
bunnyette replied to Eli_6's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Yes & no. We came down the night before our cruise. We arrived on July 9 and waited about 30 minutes. We were told it was EID so all the drivers took the day off(?). At the restaurant that evening, the server gave us her boyfriend’s card he was starting a private driver service. We booked him to take us to the cruise ship. Other times I hear they’re lined up waiting. -

I have to agree. We sat out on our balcony on the Pride & didn’t notice it was very dirty. Everything was in working order. My only complaint was the food was meh except for Chefs Table. -

We stayed at the Premier Inn. Near Dover Castle not to far from the cruise ship terminal. Friendly & helpful staff. This is a British hotel chain. walking distance to a number of restaurants

Hmm, the food for us ranged from inedible to delicious. I always greeted all staff with a cheery hello, how are you doing? It went a long way to turning those grumpy frowns upside down. Before you think I’m sparkle farkle I have complaints. The debarkation in 6/7 ports was horrible! 2 hours to get off in Reykjavik and if you needed an early tender ticket for a non carnival excursion you had to be up and in line before 6 am! Holyhead was awful. It took 2 hours to get to shore. The excuse was rough seas. Yet they weren’t! Carnival seemed to go out of its way to punish those who wanted to see the ports independently. People were exhausted, on one sea day there were a lot of “snoozin” signs up all day. every port is worth getting off for but try to book a tour for Stornoway. The island is lovely. -
