Yay, another Charla review!

I’ve had fantastic private shore excursions for 1/2 the cost of Celebrity one that comes to mind is Istanbul. We went everywhere in the city. Even Hagia Sophia which was supposed to be closed! We had a delicious lunch in a local restaurant of Turkish food. The guide then took a few of us to the spice market. Things got a bit tricky when he couldn’t find a cab (the bus took the rest of the group including DH) back to the ship. Luckily we agreed to pay a cab driver double the fare. We made it! Celebrity was charging $250 a person. We paid $100 for a far better tour.

If you’re fit and have carry on it shouldn’t be too much of a problem to walk…look at Google maps first. We were there last year but stayed the night before.

Yes there is self disembark. 12:35 isn’t too bad but try and get off as soon as you’re able. I’m not sure about Uber but there are taxis. The airport isn’t too far from the port.

Hong Kong is very easy to get around on your own. It depends how far the ports are from the sites. Perhaps check tripadvisor as well.

That happened to me in Lima when we were on a repositioning cruise on the Celebrity Infinity. We were dropped off on a street. I saw a chocolate shop which I knew would have the kind of souvenirs my friends & family would like. I was happily shopping up a storm when the guide came to drag me out to his chosen store. He & the manager nearly got into fisticuffs! DH just stood there gobsmacked. I was very firm and finished my shopping. Then just stood outside he chosen store!

When you’re jetlagged and dragging luggage, a taxi from Paddington to your hotel is not a splurge but a necessity
