  1. This. This is so important. If unsure always book directly the max number of people you think might be in the cabin. It is easy to cancel one person from the cabin or do a name change but it can be a pain or simply impossible to add a fourth pax to a cabin even if the cabin could hold four. This is because of lifeboat occupancy numbers. Each section and deck of the ship has a max lifeboat capacity and it is NOT the same as that section’s max cabin occupancy. So even though a cabin could hold 4 if the lifeboat occupancy does not allow the 4th pax anymore they simply will refuse to add the fourth pax to the cabin.
  2. For me (I book through NCL EU) the card transactions never go through if I try to pay with amex. Needs to be Visa/MasterCard even though they say amex is accepted too. It just simply won’t go through. So I have just always changed the card.
  3. Cannot answer all your questions but having sailed on Jewel class forward suites I can tell the following: yes, even though you would be cruising the Southern Caribbean it will be too windy (=cold) to spend much time on the balcony while your ship is on the move. It simply isn’t a pleasant place to be due to the wind. However the balcony is amazing if you stay onboard on port days/leave late in the evening from the port. Butler service is not a problem. They have butler(s) who are only assigned to the forward suites so you see your butler frequently and s/he is easily available. No delays in service.
  4. Suffering from claustrophobia myself this sounds very horrible. I would have definitely panicked. For all the folks who are lucky enough to have no phobias: it doesn’t really help to think things rationally when you have a phobia and you are suddenly in a situation of ”your worst nightmare” even though it might sound 100% stupid for anyone else who hasn’t got the phobia. Once panic sets in it just sets in. You cannot rationalize things like ”ok this is a fire drill, everything is ok, someone will come and unlock those doors very shortly” when you have claustrophobia. Well you can try but it won’t help one bit.
  5. Nowadays (after new years) it though seems that with the plus package you can get bottles of wine…from those wines that they serve by the glass. The newest reports from cc members are that there aren’t anymore any wine bottles marked with a star indicating a premium plus wine. They simply say that you can order any wine that is served by the glass and get the whole bottle of it. Well of course they do have some over $15/glass wines that you can get by the bottle but no chateauneuf du papes etc available anymore.
  6. I guess whether a child would be happy with Regent depends very much on the child. There are no kids pools or slides on Regent for example. And even though for Alaska there is a kids club during summer it us obviously much more subdued and smaller in scale than on the mass market cruiselines. Another topic to think is dinners. Would the child in question be happy with longer dining, not just a quick dash to eat. Etc. I do believe op’s child could very well like Regent. Or then she might be bored out of her mind. Depends totally on the child. I btw have a child too (ok already a teen) with whom we have cruised since she was two (mind you not on Regent though from that age) so I do not object in any way of bringing children to a cruise. But it is good to always think things through and from the child’s perspective. Even though Regent is more relaxed than SS (op I think SS would not be a good experience for you) you still have to think about it through. Is your daughter on the quieter side? Would she be ok with a dinner of 1,5+ hours? Would she be happy with no kids pool (and no splashing by the adults pool)? Would she be happy with the more subdued environment without an extensive kids club or kids facilities? I am sure that on an Alaska cruise people will welcome well behaved children on Regent. You just need to think if your daughter would be enjoying herself too.
  7. Yes you can indeed book a table for up to 8 people online. The system assumes those who are dining with you have the same package as you. When you then actually go to the restaurant the hostess will ask how each of you is paying so they’ll clarify at that time who has the package and who doesn’t or if indeed you all have the package. Ps. If you are booking an a la carte restaurant they wouldn’t in any case ask for any charge upfront because they cannot know what you’ll eat.
  8. What a horrible situation. I started to also immediately think that there was in the beginning of this week and last weekend on NCL a big pricing problem with their reservation system. People were seeing completely random balances due or then credits they did not have. My April cruise showed first a balance due of around $800 although I was fully paid, then it went to being fully paid, then it was suddenly a credit of $70 on my account. And this went on and on for 5-6 days 🙄 Almost every time I went to MyNCL it showed a different status on my payments 🤦🏼‍♀️ It may be that your travel agent was confused by NCL’s constantly changing prices and he/she honestly thought s/he had charged the right sum from you but it was just the NCL reservation system playing games.
  9. I guess it should say your Latitudes status (Platinum, Gold etc) but by programming error instead of the program pulling up the customers Latitudes status it now pulls up a random past booking offer code. This is the third bigger programming error for NCL IT in the last couple of months (first being deleting by accident quite many pax’s online account user id’s, second being false payment info and purchased packages shown on MyNCL, third this). That being said not sure if these all are NCL IT problems or if they are NCLH IT problems (perhaps there is one IT dept behind all NCLH companies, would make sense). Currently there is some buzz going on amongst Regent passengers: people cannot do online check in, people cannot do online shorex and restaurant bookings, whole bookings have gone missing from pax’s Regent online accounts. I started hearing about these on CC and ”the other site we cannot mention” during yesterday.
  10. I don’t think they had 16 alcoholic drinks per day. Just 16 drinks per day. Like: - 4 cokes ($12 + tax/day ) - 2 freshly squeezed oj ($8 + tax/day) - 2 Starbucks ($12 + tax/day) - 3 Pellegrino/Aqua Panna waters ($ 18 + tax/day) - 5 glasses of wine/drinks ($75 + tax/day)
  11. For us the FAS+ package always makes sense. Not because we’d drink very much booze but we drink all the other stuff. As someone already mentioned FAS+ can be valued at approx $62/day. Now how we drink on a cruise is as follows (per person): Morning: mimosa made with freshly squeezed oj + additional large freshly squeezed oj, Pellegrino (approx $22 w/o tax) After breakfast before lunch: a couple of cokes etc (approx $6) Lunch: 1 glass of wine + Pellegrino and/or more coke (approx $15) Afternoon: 1 cocktail by the pool, cokes, Starbucks Frappucino etc (approx $25) Dinnertime: 3 glasses of wine, Pellegrino (approx $35) Add there a couple of additional cokes here and there and it is already well over $100 per day per person. And thinking about alcoholic drinks it required only a mimosa, one cocktail and 4 glasses of wine during the day as we had so many non alcoholic drinks too. Now obviously with FAS+ we take the mimosa with champagne and one of the wine glasses at dinner is champagne too but tbh if we didnt take FAS+ we’d take prosecco so I calculated the above with the prosecco prices.
  12. Do you have an owners suite? Normal Haven Penthouse suites don’t get free bottles of alcohol in the suite.
  13. I’m basing my assumption in the fact that just a week ago NCL IT screwed up peoples payment info by mistake. People who had paid in full long time ago were seeing their cruises being suddenly not fully paid with $200-$800 to be paid. Others saw their final payment being suddenly much higher than it was previously. There are several threads here on CC about these mistakes. And approx 1 month ago they screwed up the login to MyNCL by changing/removing peoples userid’s by mistake. There are also several threads here on CC about this mistake. So this is just another thing they messed up.
  14. Seems like NCL IT has messed things up again… I’m sure these will change/disappear in the next few days. Or weeks.
  15. Check your sailing on RSSC (search your cruise, do not go to your profile). There just above the itinerary you see a link for the shore excursions (see pic below). You you cannot see this link yet it means they have not yet finalized the shorex for your cruise. In that case you can check some examples clicking port by port on that same page.
  16. They changed the rule starting 1/1 so just a while ago. All bottles must be consumed nowadays at the restaurant where you order your premium plus bottle.
  17. Interesting. Never really thought about that. How about final payment? Once you have the booking done by the PCC and he has processed the deposit, can you pay the final payment online through My NCL on your own without it screwing the PCC’s credits?
  18. The closest one to 10140 would be the one next to 10404. But I wouldn't worry about the distance too much. The adult kids will most likely just be happy that mom and dad are not extremely close to their cabin 😆
  19. Just notice you cannot eat whatever you want at a specialty restaurant. Some dishes have an extra charge and are not included with the package (you need to pay extra if you choose one of them).
  20. Yea same here too… and my free at sea plus which I had purchased keeps on appearing and disappearing too 🙄
  21. Not sure of Bermuda or Bahamas but after you have entered EU (Funchal) you won’t get stamped in any other EU ports (all of your ports after Funchal are EU ports). You might not even be stamped at Funchal, Madeira anymore. So you are definitely good to go with just a couple of blank pages.
  22. And our FAS+ disappeared again from our booking 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thank god we have still approx 3 months to go before the cruise but anyway… some serious glitches there currently…
  23. I cannot imagine you’d need more than 3 blank pages for a TA route. Which ports are you stopping at?
  24. Yea I had this price problem today on MyNCL. My NCL PCC told me that they are having an IT problem and very many people have this problem and that they are currently fixing it. My price became correct approx an hour ago. Didn’t really check the add ons so not sure if those had/have a problem too. I was too fixated in the problem of my price being almost 1000€ higher than it should have been 😂 Ah yea…now just checked. Apparently the FAS+ we bought is not shown at all. Edit: and now the package shows again… Got to love NCL IT 🤦🏼‍♀️😣
  25. So op, you may bring your adult daughter to your Haven suite and the concierge may allow you to bring her to the Haven restaurant for dinner a couple of times. There is an extra charge for that dinner that someone already mentioned above. Other than that, no your daughter cannot spend any time at the Haven area. Haven is not like a ”day pass” area where you can purchase a day pass for your non Haven cruise mates. Even if they are immediate family. Now the 2 bedroom Haven suite is really nice and if you are travelling just the three of you there is really no real reason for your daughter to not share it with you…except for the fact that she might want to get away from her parents completely for whatever young adult reason she might have 😁 But of course it might be that you have younger kids with you who will already stay at the second bedroom. In that case I understand. But in any case it is what it is: either your daughter stays in a non Haven cabin and doesn’t get to use the Haven facilities or she stays in your 2 bedroom Haven suite and she can enjoy all the Haven facilities and perks. Putting her as pax 3 on the Haven 2 bedroom suite is going to cost you very little (only the third-fourth pax rate which is usually around $300-700/pax) so getting her another non Haven cabin for single use must be much more. Edit: found this pic of Viva 2-bedroom Haven suite.
