  1. I know what you mean. May I make a suggestion. I recently decided, after many years being a member, to utilize the ignore/block feature offered by Cruise Critic. Just three, all on the Princess board. Makes navigating the board a much more pleasant pastime. Of course, still lots of members who agree and disagree and that’s great and the reason we have discussions. It just eliminates the ones who you find difficult to relate to. If you need help to find this feature, please just ask. 😉
  2. Curious as to why you’ve asked this question. What difference would it make?
  3. Well, someone is looking very dashing in his tuxedo! I love a well dressed man!
  4. Love that smile! Hope you both have a fabulous time. Make good use of that Premier Package, I know I certainly will. Happy to be following along!
  5. Thank you for sharing your cruise with us! I’ll be following along and looking forward to it. Have a wonderful time!
  6. Not judging, just curious as to why you wear a baseball cap indoors at a restaurant. Can’t be the sun or the wind or the rain. Is it a dress baseball cap saved for dining or the sweaty one you wore to the beach? It certainly does not affect my enjoyment of my meal. On the contrary, it makes me giggle. If you feel good, and think you look good, then more power to you. I’m sure you know very well how others might react and if you don’t mind that reaction that’s just fine. Enjoy your cruise.
  7. We haven’t lived in Toronto for quite sometime. When we retired we bought on Georgian Bay. It’s been probably two years since plastic bags were discontinued up here. However, I do shopping trips to Toronto and the high end clothing stores on Bloor St. and Avenue Road and Yorkdale Mall still use very good quality paper shopping bags with their name on it. They’ve always used paper, never plastic.
  8. It is unheard of here to provide plastic bags to customers. You can buy paper or cloth or bring your own. We stopped the 5 cent bags a very long time ago.
  9. It’s actually not about the salmon or the soufflé, although we do enjoy them. It’s about starting our vacation in a more elegant, peaceful way. It’s just so lovely to sit with a glass of wine and a nice lunch and completely wind down from the hustle and bustle of travelling. The buffet is very crowded, very noisy and so chaotic. Not the way we want to start our cruise. However, if it’s your thing, then by all means enjoy yourself. Something for everyone when you cruise.
  10. Yes, same in Canada for years now. Second nature when shopping anywhere, grab a bag! This includes cruiseships and hotels.
  11. Easy! If you have concerns about others seeing your purchase, bring your own bag. We’ve been doing it for a very long time.
  12. You wouldn’t do well in Canada. No shopping bag, we’ll sell you one. Don’t want to buy one? Then put it in your pocket, carry it or don’t buy it. Simple. People learn to take their own bags very quickly. Why would anyone need to make a fuss over bags on a cruiseship?
  13. Not Princess, but two years ago on a Celebrity ship the boutique store had a last day sale and Kate Spade handbags were on sale half price. I know the price of handbags and I bought four. So, you can get deals if you know what you’re looking for.
  14. None of our local stores have bags. You either bring your own, purchase one of their very inexpensive cloth bags for 35 cents or carry it out of the store without a bag. We’ve learned to keep a bunch of bags in the car. Onboard I always carry my own tote bag when I’m shopping even if they offer me a bag. Just one more thing to dispose of in the cabin.
  15. The app is just so unpredictable! What a pain in the butt for those folks who have to pay and then try to get it refunded onboard. Why can’t they get this fixed???
  16. I am extremely sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke and this would make me very unhappy. If they couldn’t stop the smokers, I would have to camp out in a sofa close to the CS desk. I’m sure that might get their attention and resolve the situation. I must say this has only happened to us once on a Celebrity ship and it was taken care of within 15 minutes and never happened again. Princess needs to step up. So sorry this impacted your enjoyment of your cruise!
  17. Call 1-800-901-1172 and ask to be assigned a new CVP (was PVP). This is the direct number not the main reservation number.
  18. I can’t remember the last time on a Princess cruise that our staterooms were available before 1 pm. We would never just drop off our carryons in our open cabin and leave.
  19. We never eat breakfast on embarkation morning, so we’re hungry by lunch time and we don’t eat dinner until 7:30. I just have salad with salmon and veggies and the soufflé. A much bigger lunch is at the grill with burgers and fries so the MDR lunch is very light in comparison. And, it’s a much nicer venue. Lovely way to start your cruise.
  20. It’s crazy how it works fine for some and not others. I’d say to call Princess, but that can be an effort in futility as well. Good luck, Hank.
  21. Perhaps it’s different for Royal class ships, which is the only class we’ve sailed on for years.
