  1. Yup completely unusable. I did "figure" out I can input fields like name/reservation id by tapping the button twice for everything from choosing field to input on keyboard but I can't scroll or do anything once logged in How they was allowed to be published is beyond baffling. Do they truly have absolutely zero QA at all? What's the email address? I'll send them one too (quick search didn't find it)
  2. I was in Carribean princess in September and had a great time and found the food pretty consistent with my previous experience. Yes the CB is older ship compared to royal class but it was in very good shape, MDR was good and buffet was similar to previous experience on similar class of ships Huge scallops frequently on menu, only cost cutting noticed was they served Basa in MDR one night (buffet had red snapper luckily) but desserts were great and service especially in MDR was great. Buffet was hot and miss as servers stood around not getting drinks or clearing plates quickly sometimes but that was precovid as well It was a good cruise and made me add princess back into my consideration after I basically switched to HAL (who I still think have better food)
  3. just like in before days when it was a door hangar...can remove dnd, flip it to please make up room..but seems we all survived just fine
  4. how so? i showed up at dining room last week on my 10 day cruise on a day where i didn't have a reservation (or delete original because i wanted a different dining room). i just show up and they scan my medallion how was it smoother before? you mean before when you told them your room number?
  5. I like the medallion after returning from my first cruise with one. Yes the app could definitely use some improvements especially preboarding and some of the items are not located under intuitive headings. but once we were on board and had full functionality and figured out where certain things were under in the app, it was a breeze and was super easy to do everything and i liked not having to use keycard to open door and ability to see where my wife is and easier to order things without having to whip my card out to scan.
  6. Breakfast buffet is 5am-1130am, lunch is 1130am-3pm. 3-5 is snacks, 5-10pm is dinner buffet. And you have international cafe that's 24/7 I never had to wait for MDR yet, usually goto dinner around 730-8pm since I visit buffer around 530pm lol and then stop by dinner buffet after MDR or goto international cafe after show . And there's always slices and salty dog with no waits other than like around 3-5pm on a port day when people come back and lunch buffet is fine
  7. I'm on the 10 day New England Cruise right now and everything has been more than fine, ship is in very good condition (didn't notice any maintenance issues other than drip in the rear of the buffet area they had roped off). food has been good, service is a not as good as what i've had on HAL last 3 cruises or when i last sailed on princess prepandemic (eg my steward forgets my extra towel and never really see him and when i do, there's no hi mr x/y ....not a big deal at all, just an observation). Dining room service was okay but then one evening i had a great server and he asked that i can just go back to him everyday and the host/hostess was great and starting second day, they see me and tell me to just walk to "my table" entertainment has been better than i remembered when i last sailed on princess, they have a lot of performers and i'm pretty impressed (for princess), they even had a bunch of drones as part of the show last night accompanying the dancers/singers! today for lunch in buffet, they had grilled tuna steaks, baked whole salmon, red snapper, peeled shrimps, cold mussels etc.. food ingredient quality is decent (Though i think not as good as prepandemic but that's all the lines) overall, while HAL is still our preferred line, this princess cruise exceeded our expectations. the tv seems bigger than 42" in our room with lots of new on demand movies as expected and it never feels crowded as expected. AC has been working great except on first embarkation day where the room was a bit warm (i like it cold!) but since then, it's been fine..i like my temp around 20 celicus usually and i'm very comfortable in the room.
  8. I boarded from Vancouver in May 2023 and May 2022 and easy peasy, way faster than fll or MIA Only bottleneck is luggage dropoff is in bottom level of car park and then you go up to main level and go into hall for your ship. There's like only two elevators going up from luggage drop off so I just took upstairs They have nexus lane for immigration and security line is super fast
  9. Royal and Celebrity have been doing great despite much worse food quality especially post covid and pushing people to paid restaurants and people are loving it based on their pax numbers. but unless someone's a total noob and never had room service elsewhere, everyone knows room service is for convenience, not hot food. i mean even common sense if they can bring food to you right away, it'll take easily 10-15mins to get to you at least.
  10. bonds can be redeemed by issuer, Carnival have been doing just that, they did it again less than a month ago for 1.2B in bonds that paid higher interest than what they need to pay presently Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK) today announced that Carnival Corporation (the "Company") will issue conditional notices of redemption for the entire outstanding principal amount of the $775 Million 10.500% second-priority senior secured notes due 2026 (the "2026 USD Second Lien Notes") and €425 Million 10.125% second-priority senior secured notes due 2026 (the "2026 Euro Second Lien Notes") to be redeemed on August 11, 2023 and August 12, 2023, respectively. The Company will use cash on hand to finance the redemptions and expects to save over $120 million in interest expense on an annualized basis. The $1.2 billion of redemptions will be conditioned on the closing of the Refinancing Transactions described below
  11. the new charges aren't even a drop in the bucket is the way i look at it if you're on standard (Which is how i travel as we don't drink) $15 one time fee for oceannow? $8 for a pizza at alfredo's that i can get free at slice? breakfast room service still free so the only extras are how many pizza at alfredo's i'll eat? on a cruise, i may go twice or so... now i can pay $8 or whatever a la carte it is for it, or get it for free at slice. or a one time charge for ocean now? so on a 7 day cruise, that's like $2 a day? honestly, it's not even enough to care about..just like increasing gratuities in context of the overall price of the cruise and misc spending associated with it.
  12. ASAP especially for ones like seaplane flight of glaciers and etc..they get booked up and you can always cancel
  13. Irrelevant, it's a mandatory charge . Goes to the cruise company and they can do whatever they want with it
  14. starlink is still very much hit and miss in alaska based on may 2023 cruise on konigsdam which honestly wasn't much better than my may 2022 cruise to alaska on konigsdam on exact same itinarery but pre-starlink
  15. Not really...very few changes for room service Call to order food $5 each time Use app to order food $15 one time fee If you have plus/premium, app $15 one time fee is waived That's it ..not really that confusing or complicated that some are making it out to be
  16. I can't believe some people are so worked up over a one time $14.99 charge for entire voyage.. yes it sucks just like all increases including for a stamp..but it's the cost of a cheap fast food combo.. seems too trivial to get as worked up as some are
  17. This is pretty normal..eg phone reservations for Aeroplan has a $25 booking fee but free online or on app Costs more to have a human there and way less efficient
  18. can consider HAL? princess food imo was never that good even precovid. I've done a few HAL cruises post pandemic and find it much better than celebrity or princess even precovid especially buffet and other venues too
  19. i've been having this problem (credit card # greyed out) since the weekend. I was able to pay/book excursions just last week but when weekend came, wasn't able to check out (gifts or excursions, i wanted to buy internet..wish i had purchased when it was 109.99 instead of 127.99) but thats another thing hoping they get this sorted out, don't really want to call and speak to them, it always takes too long and i much prefer doing it myself
  20. yes..can't even login ..or it says i'm logged in but can't access profile or see anything. when on the app, it says my email is invalid lol their website is bad even at best of times but looks like it completely went bonkers today. i've been trying to book a cruise for last week or so and always get error after i login and getting to checkout...had to get a TA to book it for me today but when i go in and try to see it..of course website is down or not working
  21. I had a universal remote and couldn't get it to switch inputs on the Konigsdam eventhough I was able to access a HDMI port. I think the tv custom firmware disable those ports even if you try with a universal remote (I was able to get to menu and show inputs but can't change to the HDMI port)
  22. we don't value the "attractions" like slides, bumper cars etc ..and the "production" shows like those on Royal/NCL we find are quite low quality relative to on land shows or attractions even though it's like Grease or whatever.. the talent and venue just isn't comparable to land even on the oasis class ships and "dance clubs" on cruise ships are totally not relevant at all for us (because they're so bad compared to on land), so we aren't really drawn to those new mega ships. we like HAL for the more relaxed vibe, the library/Crow's nest, no excessive upselling everywhere for every activity and the food is good without needing to goto a paid venue where the food isn't even that good (looking at you royal) and the older crowd means less noise and nuisance/rowdiness. we stay away from pool anyways we find HAL pricing to be a bargain compared to Princess or Celebrity and offers everything we like and the itineraries of HAL . we would do Virgin but their itineraries don't interest us whatsoever and feels like they're trying a little too hard to be young/hip. we also are not big drinkers (i drink but not on cruises/vacations.. i drink when i goto clubs and etc) we were princess fans and prefer the longer 10+ day itineraries and the service level we like (just good enough but not too over the top) but we find HAL food better and cheaper and the pinnacle class ships offer modern enough rooms/amenities (eg app ordering of food, updated bathrooms/rooms relative to say zaandam) etc. basically we like decent food, quiet vibe and please don't bother us unless we need something and i don't need crew to say hi or know our names lol celebrity we like but i don't find the value there relative to HAL where the higher price doesn't really get us anything extra we value
  23. Having sailed konigsdam and zaandam in 2022, our preference is pinnacle class by far. But we are young(er) and usually do celebrity and princess, maybe HAL like viking is trying to get younger people as that's where the money is these days just like how Vegas and other places/hotels have pivoted?
  24. Younger gen is flush with money and not shy about spending it. just not so much on traditional cruises like HAL with minimal venues to spend big really...
  25. emailing HAL will be easiest/most direct about getting it applied for HCW offer, my wife did the sheerid thing and not sure (don't think) the OBC was applied as wife's mariner # wasn't included in the booking so we emailed Reservations_Submit@hollandamerica.com and got it applied retroactively that was email before to get OBC for the HCW before they went to sheerid
