  1. We have rented from there in the past. I am glad to see that they are back!
  2. I would just book it. I ran into a similar issue on Mariner a few years ago. I couldn't book any balcony for two but when I tried for three, there were lots of balconies, including 1688 which is what I wanted. I was actually on Serenade at the time, trying to book through Next Cruise. The manager said she would get the cabin released to us but would book it for three temporarily, so we didn't lose it. She actually booked herself into the cabin with us and sent an email to corporate to get the cabin released for two. A few days later, I got a revised booking confirmation with just two of us in the cabin.
  3. Juneau Car Rental is near the airport, not at the airport. We rented from them this past May and they notified us after we booked them that they were not able to get their location near the AJ dock and they would be running a shuttle. Week before our cruise we found out shuttle was running every two hours and call when you are off ship. Once off ship, we find out shuttle is not coming until other ship docks. We said we will take cab, they said fine, car is ready. Car not ready when we got there. They are very nice people but we will not rent there again.
  4. Sitting for two hours, waiting for your meal is crazy. We have had an issue in Chops on Anthem before, which was handled without making a "fuss" or going to guest services. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. No one came near us or acknowledged us for almost 15 minutes. Three or four other tables were seated after us and all of them had different waiters get them drinks, water, bread and took their orders. We still had no one come to us at all. My husband got up and spoke to the manager who was at the desk seating people. He immediately apologized to my husband and said he would send someone to us immediately. A waiter, who wasn't assigned to our table, was sent over to us immediately and took care of us from then on. The manager came over later to apologize again and to make sure we were happy. We declined dessert as we had a show to get to but the manager noticed on our reservation that we were supposed to be celebrating a birthday that night and sent something to our cabin. What started out badly, ended up just fine because we didn't just sit there.
  5. @DaniDanielleMarietta, how is Charlie doing? Is he responding to the antibiotics? We have been praying for you guys. Take care of yourself too! 🙂
  6. If you are diamond or D+, you can have one person use the discounts to reduce costs too. Diamond is one 24 hour period each and D+ is two 24 hour periods each. Day 1, you have cellular for a good part of the day, so no need really to use the coupon, just share the purchased plan if needed. If day 2 is a sea day, use one of the coupons late morning to cover part of that day and morning the next. If day 3 is a port day, don't waste a coupon until you are going to be on the ship. You can easily spread things over multiple days that way. You could also use one of the coupons toward a package for the remaining days of the cruise if you had a lot of sea days.
  7. I find it very hard to believe that anyone would sit in a restaurant for two hours before they got any food. The diner should have spoken to their waiter or management around 90 minutes prior. That table would have had another reservation waiting for it by then, so someone should have noticed there was an issue.
  8. We were on Quantum in Alaska last May and the signal was really poor, with at least one day basically non existent. That was pre Starlink though, so I would hope that it was much improved with Starlink.
  9. Yes, it should be good! I just checked to see if any of the BD crew are on WWHL this week and they aren't, unfortunately. It will be interesting to see if they have a reunion show when this season is over.
  10. Yes, we had posted that last week. I just was sharing the preview of the beginning of the show. Captain Kerry is said to be the replacement for Captain Lee in future seasons.
  11. We have had water bottles replenished each day beside our Lavazza coffee machine in our suite but they are supposed to be for the coffee. Our cabin steward left bottles each day when he replenished the pods.
  12. If any of you Below Deck watchers are impatient like me and want to know what happens, the first seven minutes of tonight's show is posted on the Bravo website. They have been doing that recently for some reason.
  13. I just saw on another forum that Anthem is using wow bands again. They are now $9.99. Not sure if they are allowing old bands to be reprogrammed.
  14. I agree, I couldn't do the whole world cruise, especially not on Serenade. We are not in a position right now to do long cruises anyway due to family obligations but I would only consider a sailing like that on a newer ship with more options. We sailed Serenade right before the shutdown and it was very tired then. Cabins really need sprucing up.
  15. That JS and single can be grouped with the balcony beside it to make a group of cabins that are on their own corridor. There is an additional door to the corridor that can be closed that all three of those cabins could then leave there doors open to make one large suite or close for privacy. Most of the time, that extra door is just left open because the three cabins are not booked together. Single cabins on Anthem sell out quickly, so the single is likely booked. You can call and ask if any of those are available to book if you don't see them online. You would not be able to close that extra door as you would only have two of the three cabins in the grouping. That single cabin is little but you would likely only be using it for sleeping so no big deal.
  16. We have stayed in a J4 on Anthem and it did not have two toilets, it did have a split bathroom. There was one bathroom with a toilet and a sink and another bathroom with a sink, tub and a standalone rain shower. These bathrooms used to be called spa junior suites. There is no curtain to divide the room for privacy as the OP is looking for and the MIL would be on a sofabed. There are also larger JS, I think J1, that do have a toilet in each of the bathrooms. One bathroom has a toilet and a sink and the other bathroom has a sink, tub and toilet.
  17. They started having little bags of chips available when they first introduced Park Cafe over a decade ago, so I am sure they have long ago figured out how to store chips on the ships. If the rumor is actually true, it is likely just another victim of cost cutting. People have proven that they hoard the bags of chips, some even taking them home, so the cruise line has decided they don't want to fund peoples lunches at home.
  18. What happened on Jewel last month has nothing to do with availability on Allure currently.
  19. I had just googled him because I didn't realize he existed after Steve Perry, I thought it was just the Steve Perry imitator guy. Augeri was actually with Journey for 8 years and 3 albums. I was very surprised! I never liked Journey after Steve Perry left. We had seen them a few times before he left. They were great live!
  20. We have done hibachi a bunch of times, but not on Mariner. Seating was normal height, not high tops.
  21. I am glad you enjoyed you first cruise. We did not have high expectations for entertainment on a Radiance class ship as we have sailed all the ships in this class, some of them more than others. The cruise director on our sailing was the worst we have experienced and his morning show was just a preview of the movies that were available that day. The headliner on the show was a ventriloquist that we have seen way too many times, he does the same show and it gets old quickly, so he was a hard pass. The Royal Caribbean singers and dancers were fine. We just prefer the Broadway style shows on the larger ships and the tribute bands. We take Alaska cruises for the itinerary and sit on our balcony many nights watching the scenery. If we were taking it for the ship, we would choose a Quantum class ship over a Radiance class ship. Quantum class ships offer more entertainment venues and restaurants. The original poster is concerned about being bored on a smaller ship and I was just sharing our experience.
  22. Interesting. We sailed May 2018 and it was warm and both our hotel in Fairbanks and our one in Denali had AC.
  23. We found the entertainment on our Radiance southbound trip to be lacking. Many nights there was a movie in the theater, we don't cruise to watch movies. We loved the itineraries and did lots of excursions, with long days in port, so didn't mind the down time to just sit at a lounge and listen to music. We also sailed Quantum, roundtrip from Seattle, which had much better entertainment and more restaurant choices on the ship. The itinerary was not as good and port times were shorter, 1 to 9 in Juneau, weird hours in Victoria not conducive to excursions. We would do either itinerary again in a heartbeat though. Quantum if we only had a week to get away and Radiance if we had 2+ weeks to do a land tour and a southbound cruise.
  24. We are going out to a local seafood restaurant. Just looked at their Valentine specials online. Not thrilled with the surf and turf option but found two specialty martinis and a dessert I like and I am not a big drinker at all. Some on this thread have more drinks in one night or one cruise than I had all last year! 😄 We shall see, will need to make sure my DH is driving tonight. 😇 I hope your mouth is healed and your antibiotic is finished soon so you can celebrate this weekend. 🙂
