  1. Unfortunately, loud entertainment happens in the Centrum on that class of ship. I made the mistake of booking a cabin too close to that area once too. I would suggest ear plugs. They used to close fire doors too to help with the noise.
  2. I have no issues with check in, the OP wanted to know what time it actually starts. I wait until I get up in the morning to check in. 🙂
  3. It is midnight local time of the port city.
  4. People sailing out of Seattle are typically cruising to Alaska. Those cruises have many excursions that cross into Canada via land that requires people to have a passport.
  5. We also like ISP and have taken whale watches with Glacier Wind too. We had Captain Shawn the first time we were there with his smaller boat and had Captain Casey this last time with their brand new "bigger" boat that seats 13. Great family and wonderful excursion. We took the transporter gondola over to the new NCL pier since it was a free ride through the forest. They are building a ropes course that they will be offering next year. The gondola to the top of the mountain was also free the day we were there but we didn't do it, too high and steep for me. I was surprised by all the changes in the four years since we had been there in 2018. We will just have to go back again to see what it looks like when it is completed. 🙂
  6. Kids aged 16 years and up need a government issued photo ID as well as a birth certificate to board if they don't have a passport.
  7. Be careful about booking a guaranty and placing Royal Up bids. We booked a suite guaranty and received an email to bid on Royal Up prior to knowing our cabin number. We figured we would get a junior suite as that is what people typically get when booking a suite guaranty. We placed bids on a GS and an OS. A few weeks prior to sailing, I checked our cabin for the millionth time and we had been given a 2 bedroom grand suite! Luckily, I was able to cancel both of our Royal Up bids as they were still accessible. I will never bid on Royal Up on a GTY again unless I have been assigned my cabin.
  8. No where does it say there will be an announcement by August 14 as you say it says. The exact quote is: For those clients booked after August 14, 2022, please await the specific protocol details from us related to those sailings.
  9. No issues with emed tests in carryons. That is where ours were when we went through TSA.
  10. It isn't Malia. You could see the person in the preview last night and she is much taller and blonder than Malia. Bravo has also posted a preview of next weeks episode and you can see her in the preview and she is mentioned by name at 1:15. It is Courtney. https://www.bravotv.com/below-deck-mediterranean/season-7/episode-6/videos/stew-kyle-viljoen-this-is-getting-out-of-control
  11. We have done deck 7 once too. Not a bad choice either other than having to remember which elevator bank to take since you can't cross over at the aft elevators. We only messed up once all week. 😄
  12. Deck 6 is our favorite deck on Oasis class ships because it is on the same deck as the Boardwalk. It is also only one deck up from the Royal Promenade and two down from Central Park.
  13. Soda "gun" at the bars has club soda. I get club soda with a lime from bars on a regular basis.
  14. Yes, club soda is included in the soda package. I get club soda all the time at the bars onboard. You can also get it in the freestyle machines if the ship you are sailing has them.
  15. Actually that is not true. My DH and I both tested positive for influenza A on Anthem in February 2019. We were quarantined in our cabin and both received a prorated FCC for the days we were quarantined. We also did not have to pay the costs of our visit to medical and the Tamiflu we received because the Captain had announced there was a flu outbreak on the ship and anyone who was feeling ill would be seen for free.
  16. We did discuss PT but the narrowing in her neck is severe and he really didn't think it will help her. She doesn't want it either. She had two referrals by her PCP over the last six months of this but she cancelled it both times. The neurosurgeon was impressed with how strong she is and she showed him the exercises she does on her own sitting in her recliner. It is crazy to see her reflexes though as when he tests one side, she jumps on both sides.
  17. They had big tomatoes too, I remember seeing at least beefsteak. I took a picture of it for you to see what I mean about the attached cage. I have put the plastic pot is a ceramic pot to add weight after it fell over from the wind. That worked well until yesterday's storms and the whole thing crashed over again (only lost one tomato 😄 ) so now I have it staked and tied to the railing. It is just really top heavy right now due to all the tomatoes. I think I only paid $15.99 for it, so if the rest of the tomatoes already on it survive, it has more than paid for itself.
  18. She is doing pretty good, thanks for asking. 🙂 She has had more MRI's and other tests than I can count at this point, as well as many different specialists. She has finally been diagnosed with cervical spondylosis. She is not a surgical candidate due to age but also due to the fact that the highly invasive surgery would likely not help her and could make her worse. There were other incidental findings found in the scans that now need to be watched but they don't appear to be anything of concern. She has also had a lot of medication changes as she has lost a lot of weight in recent years and never had her meds adjusted or discontinued. She has accepted that she needs to use a cane or a walker. She still isn't driving but that is by her choice. I specifically asked the neurosurgeon and he said she can drive. She no longer is willing to move closer as she likes her condo, so I am still driving to NH a few times a week. She did start doing a little cooking, so we will see where that goes. I think she is sick of what I bring her each week lol My sister goes to see her almost weekly now, so that is better than before. The others that don't live close have been flying in to help, one of them at least each month. As long as we can keep her safe, she will stay where she is, but if she starts to go downhill, I am calling all in for an intervention. I haven't posted much as there really hasn't been good news and others have lots going on too. I hope your PT is going well and gives you some relief. 🙂
  19. I am not the plant from seed gardener some of the others on this thread are, I buy a plant that is in a pot with a cage built into the pot. Last year, I bought my plant at BJ's and had almost 500 tomatoes! The plant was a beast and just kept producing. I got that one really early though, around the beginning of May. This year, we were cruising in mid May, so I bought my plant after we got back and over the covid we got on the ship. I think I got this one med June. BJ's plants were ugly, so this one came from Lowe's. I had two tomatoes last week that I had promised my firsts to my four year old neighbor. Since then, the plant has really been thriving. Got this bunch today and will have more by end of the week that I will have my neighbor come take. 🙂 I have only watered this one so far this year, last year I was using Miracle Grow Tomato fertilizer. I will likely feed this one soon. We have room to do a garden but I like the simplicity of the pot on the deck. 🙂
  20. It is a difficult question to answer without knowing your budget and your expectations. Some people like to pay as little as possible on their cabin as they say they won't spend much time in it and would prefer to spend their money on other things, like specialty dining, drink packages, excursions, etc. We sail a lot in suites but will sail in a balcony if the price is right. I would do at least two cabins with the understanding that the BIL will likely end up on a sofabed in most cabin configurations. If this is an adult, maybe a third cabin makes sense. I would not want a big suite for everyone but that works for some families. I would read some reviews of the ships you are considering and look at the cruise line's website at all the different cabin types. Time of year is going to make a big difference in price. Holiday weeks and school vacation weeks tend to be more expensive too.
