  1. We did a Pacific Coastal, Vancouver to LA on Jewel many years ago. He had a stop in Astoria, Oregon instead of yours in Victoria. Loved coming into SF at sunrise, overnighted and left next day at sunset. I would definitely do it again if the timing was right.
  2. The buffet area is a huge improvement over what it used to be. Check it out, even if you don't eat there. Lots of fajita choices and toppings, cuban sandwiches, decent burgers, salad, fruit, etc. There are also a few Snack Shacks that have a really good burger, chicken sandwich and a few other things. Limited options but done really well. Snack Shacks also have funnel cake which is a nice treat.
  3. I was quarantined with covid on Quantum. I received a prorated refund of my cruise fare about 21 days after my sailing. My husband was negative for covid and was not quarantined. He did not receive a refund. The letter I received said I would receive a refund and did not mention my whole party.
  4. Skagway had a second rockslide on Wednesday, so it will be interesting if they stop using the Railroad dock completely. They had stopped using the forward berth a couple of weeks ago after a new survey. The August 3rd rockslide was mostly contained by the catch fence but some rock hit a guard shack. The prior rockslide was to the right of the catch fence and allowed more rock to hit the pier. I shiver to think we were in line for the train in May in the exact area these slides are coming down on.
  5. There is a calorie free screen that she can check out all the different options. She might find something else she likes. There are a lot of Fanta sugar free options, ginger ale, AHA sparkling flavored water and other stuff I am not remembering.
  6. Freestyle Machines have Barqs sugar free root beer. My DH is also a fan of it. We have also had some ships have Barqs sugar free cream soda in the machines.
  7. It doesn't make a difference as far as the delivery of your luggage, but I would verify that all the C&A numbers and statuses are correct on your booking. When our cruise docs came through with the luggage tags, it had my DH with no status and mine was correct. I called and asked why there was no status, they found that there were two C&A numbers for my DH and an audit had deleted the one that I have been using for him for almost 20 years. The number was corrected in the booking and his luggage tags were fixed.
  8. It is likely an age restriction set by the tour provider's insurance company. Just like they have age limits for young kids, they have them for older passengers too. Many passengers likely would be perfectly fine doing the excursion at an older age but walking in high temperatures at Tulum can be very strenuous.
  9. We have found the water very clear but lots of sand can get kicked up closer to shore if the seas are rough.
  10. I know the row you are talking about on Oasis. We just asked the maitre d' to put us near a window. One was very good about it and the other was not. Good luck. ๐Ÿ™‚
  11. I have never requested a specific location but you can try. Depending on the ship, the two tops are not on top of each other in my experience.
  12. A lot more fish at that now then we saw it last. I don't remember the cannons though. The plane had a ton of fish in lots of varieties. Too bad that is outside the boundaries now.
  13. There was another rockslide yesterday. This is from a Skagway News FB post posted August 3. A landslide occurred on Railroad Dock at approximately 5 p.m. While there is significant debris, no injuries were reported. The passengers from the Norwegian Encore, around 1,800 still in town, are being tendered back to their ship from the Small Boat Harbor. Since this vessel has no tenders, they are being assisted by the Holland America Noordam. Borough Manager Brad Ryan reported that the security booth was hit by rocks. The slide is located at what is dubbed the North Slide area.
  14. We have snorkeled off the first beach on Chill Island. We went out towards the lifeguard stand out in the water. There used to be a submerged plane out there but someone said it was removed. We have seen fish and sting rays from that beach. We have seen lemon sharks over in the area of the cabanas. You can bring your own equipment if you want, you don't have to rent theirs. They used to require you to wear a dive vest though and would let you use one for free. We haven't snorkeled the last few times we have been there so not sure if they are still requiring them.
  15. Correct, you would become diamond on the cruise after. You need to decide if the cost of a 2-3 night cruise is worth it just to get diamond benefits. If you live close to a port with short cruises, it might be worth it. Add the prices of the benefits you would you and decide.
  16. You asked about birth certificates, did you specifically ask about Puerto Rican birth certificates? I am sorry you were denied boarding but I just don't see how the rep that booked this would tell anyone all the exceptions. It is up to us to know what documents we need to travel and to have the correct ones. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/what-travel-documents-are-required-for-cruises-from-united-states-ports
  17. How was the booking agent supposed to know you had an invalid Puerto Rican birth certificate though?
  18. Date of vaccines make a difference on some European cruises. You can see your requirements in this link. Just choose your port of departure to see the rules for your sailing. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center/getting-ready-to-cruise
  19. Most of the time you can put vaccine information in at check in 45 days prior to sailing. Sometimes you canโ€™t and just have to wait until closer to 30 days prior. Once ours was finally available, validating took less than a day.
