  1. Not anymore, When I turned 60 I gave away all my heels. I figured if there's any place I want to go that requires heels, I have no business being there
  2. Shorts and a T shirt. On our most recent cruise DH and I wore matching cruise themed t-Shirts ("I love it when we're cruising together). It was fun and we are doing that from now on.
  3. The navy wedge is the winner for both color and style. . The black pump does not look dressy enough for the dress. Heavy-looking. The black rhinestone shoe is a great style but would be better in navy or silver. The Blush one is just a NO.
  4. I used to pack several bathing suits and was in one everyday for warm itineraries; wore a coverup on seadays and shorts and top or a sundress over it in ports - I was in and out of the water most days. This past cruise (last month) I wore one for one day on the serenity deck, but did not go in the hot tub so found I was more comfortable in shorts and a top. We had one excursion that went to a beach, so I wore one under shorts and a top. However, I did not go in the water and it was too hot to stay on the beach long, so I could have done without it. Going forward I'll continue to bring a couple just in case, but I'm not using them as much as I used to. That being said, I can't imagine needing to pack 9 suits. If you are going to be in the water most days, take at least 3 so you will never have to put on a wet one, maybe a couple more if you love wearing suits and want some variety.
  5. If you are gold or more, there will be a large (50 oz) bottle of water in your cabin complimentary. I use that for taking pills, etc in the cabin. For going off the ship, I bring a large yeti cup and just fill it with water from one of the beverage stations. If you prefer, you can order a 12 pack of bottled water from the fun shops on the Carnival website (In-room Gifts and Shopping) ahead of time and it will be in your stateroom when you board. It's $9.95 and the bottles are 16.9 oz. You can also order the 50 oz bottles for $3.95 each or 8 for $20.
  6. Yes, I have done so several times. The process is easy. Apply the gift card first and it will credit that and then it will display the remaining balance and ask how you want to pay it. You can apply multiple cards and the process repeats itself until the full balance is paid
  7. I've been cahrged state (FL) sales tax on drinks with the soda package while still in state waters, It's just a few cents. Some ports charge additional tax on alcohol.
  8. The new price is showing on the website now
  9. Or drinking heavily the first day or two (as most people who drink do) and then cancelling when the cruise becomes port-heavy.
  10. We've found it's easier and cheaper on most vacations to Uber than to rent a car, especially considering the cost of gas and the hassle of finding parking (and usually paying dearly for it)
  11. I don't know if you have insurance or not, but most cover medical cancellation. Even without insurance, depending on how soon it is before sailing, you may be able to get at least a partial refund, reschedule the cruise, or get a voucher to use with a certain amount of time. Call carnival and explain your situation and see what they can do.
  12. I do the same, but we really are defeating the purpose of why they did away with straws in the first place 😄
  13. Last cruise we decided to do a test on whether the drink package is worth it or not (For Dh it is definitely worth it, but I don't drink as much as he does). We did pay-as-you-go and had drinks whenever we wished. There were days when our bar charges were more than the daily Cheers fee would have been (first day and first seaday), some less (port days), and others about the same. When we totaled up all the bar charges for the cruise, we still saved a couple of hundred dollars compared to what Cheers would have cost us.
  14. I did notice that they do not have tablecloths at all in the MDR (last time i cruised they still had them on elegant nights). This did not affect my cruise experience in any way, so i really wouldn't even consider it a cutback
  15. Last month on Sunshine I noticed tablecloths were missing altogether in the MDR (Last time I cruised carnival the had them on elegant nights. No really anything I miss, but just something I noticed
  16. It helps reduce stragglers now that the bars won't serve you after a certain time if you've not mustered. Muster is so easy now though - just report to a station marked on your boarding pass for a short demo, get boarding pass scanned, and go.
  17. We put our phones on airplane mode and just the hub app and camera, Stil unplugged from life off the ship
  18. I love the MDR show. It comes after the main course has been served and you have a few minutes to finish up or digest before dessert. It's maybe 5 minutes and so fun!
  19. Yes, I would live to see an enhanced bubbles package that includes coffee and other nonalcoholic drinks, I would also like to leveled drink packages - so many drinks over the course of the cruise rather than unlimited.
  20. It's active when you are aboard the ship whether sailing or docked. It is not active once you debark, even to a private island
  21. Just off the Sunshine and Beyond the Fun was offered
  22. I saw in an article this week that Carnival is not putting libraries on new ships and are converting them on old ones. The supposed reason is that people don't read much on cruises anymore , but the real reason, I suspect, was revealed later in the article when they said the libraries were being replaced with revenue-producing features.
