  1. Yes, out of all her stupid mistakes, that was one of the worst. I can't imagine that anyone in their right mind would remove a walk-in closet and install a smaller regular one.
  2. I got off the Silhouette earlier this month. I had a deluxe balcony cabin. No footstools. Did not test the chair recline as I mostly read on my balcony. I know the chairs recline somewhat. I doubt fully.
  3. Yes, that's all you need to do. Your number and your status will show up.
  4. Thanks for your report, Rollie. I agree that Celebrity's suite prices are completely out of control. Three times what I paid last year. Not happening. I've sailed twice in MSC's YC. I thought the cabins were excellent, the lounge area fantastic and the same for the pool area. Their private island was wonderful. I agree that service does not match Celebrity's level, particularly in the restaurant. And I last sailed YC prior to the pandemic. At that time, I didn't think the food measured up to Celebrity either. What has kept me from sailing them again is that I do not care for 7-night itineraries and I hate driving to Miami. I second the recommendation to book with a TA who does a lot of business with MSC. My TA at the time almost fired me because of the difficulty of working with MSC. I would never attempt to deal with them on my own.
  5. Just back from 10 nights on the Silhouette with some of the usual suspects. Had a great cruise!
  6. Our heat gets turned off periodically. Doesn't usually last long. On the plus side, it gave me a chance to wear a Christmas sweater to a luncheon yesterday. Don't often get to do that.
  7. I've done PH, RS, & SS (and regular cabins) on Summit and MSC Yacht Club on Seashore 2X. The food is far better on the Summit and the service more professional and polished. I enjoyed Seashore, but their prices have risen along with everyone else's. And I hate sailing out of Miami. I'm just off 10 nights on Silhouette out of Fort Lauderdale. The service and food were excellent (with the exception of the lobster mac & cheese at The Lawn Club which was absolutely dreadful). And I was not in a suite this time. I would never do that on MSC. With them, it's Yacht Club or nothing.
  8. Yes, Guest Relations' assortment of reading glasses is impressive. I left mine on the table in Luminae one night. Went down to see if they had been turned in--there they were in this large box FULL of reading glasses!
  9. Just buy the clear plastic ones on Amazon, print out your tags, insert, and go.
  10. Each ship must do it differently. On the Silhouette last week, I put in $100 OBC to start and immediately won $50 so I cashed out. I was then frozen out of my account. They told me I would have to play with cash to reactivate my account.
  11. We did not get that on the Silhouette. Unless it was served on a night when we were in a specialty restaurant.
  12. Jim, I will be interested to hear what you think of the new chocolate pill. I finally remembered to try it. It was good, but not anywhere near as good as the raspberry vacheron. We did not eat in Luminae every night, so did not see some of the new menus.
  13. I will not pay the prices they are charging for PH or RS. The current prices are triple what I paid last year. Not happening.
  14. Happy Birthday, Jim! I've never managed to be on board on my birthday. Had two B2B Iceland/Greenland cruises booked which would have included my birthday, but they were both killed by Covid. I haven't noticed too many changes in the Luminae menu, but I'm not very attuned to that and we have been doing a lot of specialty restaurants. The service and food in Luminae has been excellent. I was greatly disappointed in The Lawn Club Grill. The steak was delicious. The rest of it was meh or absolutely horrible (lobster mac & cheese). I certainly won't be rushing back there.
  15. Scheduled arrival time was 11:30. We arrived at the port around 10:30 because our shuttle left the hotel early and were allowed up to the Suite/Zenith lounge and checked in. We started boarding around 11.
  16. In my experience, that's how it used to work. However, currently on the Silhouette, I must actually log off one device before logging on with another. PIA.
  17. Yes. It's past the general luggage drop area. Identified by big signs. There's no white tent like MSC Yacht Club, but there are plenty of people there to direct you up to the suite/Zenith lounge. We were the first ones on the ship yesterday. Dropped our luggage at the suite/Zenith area with the porters. Mine still hadn't come after 3:00 p.m. My cabin attendant went looking for it and brought it to me shortly after that. I think that's the latest my luggage has ever been delivered to my cabin.
  18. I'm also on the ship. Everything has been great except luggage delivery. Still didn't have my luggage by 3:15. Described it to my excellent cabin attendant and he went off and found it shortly thereafter. That was odd as we were the first people on the ship.
  19. I just boarded the Silhouette yesterday. Can't say I've experienced any of these issues. Service has been very attentive and all I've encountered have addressed me by name. I do stock up on water in the Retreat Lounge as I don't have a butler. We had the filet in Luminae last night and it was excellent. I have a lovely cabin attendant who has been very responsive to my few requests. So I'm a happy camper. I was a bit worried because of all the negative reviews lately.
  20. Loved hearing the story of you and Iain! Congratuations to you both. I happened to be in San Francisco and went home the day before the Loma Prieta Quake. I had a client who had just crossed the Bay Bridge prior to the quake. The only good thing to come from that quake is that San Francisco got rid of that dreadful freeway by the bay.
  21. Looking forward to your latest adventure. I'm in Fort Lauderdale tonight. We set sail on the Silhouette tomorrow for a 10-night Thanksgiving cruise.
