By the time they get it figured out and build something the glacier will have receded so it is not visible anymore like from the Portage Glacier visitor center.

In addition to making the tour change make sure that you understand how to get to where to catch the bus if the time changes very much. Some hotels are miles away from start of bus ride.

Check out the park and trails near the airport. If you have suitcases make sure they are out of sight when parking. Maybe rent bikes. You don't say when but likely daylight until late. Seaplanes viewing at lake hood and small plane museum (closes at 5). Lots to do near the airport. The gondola in ISP looks nice that may work to take husband up to top and let daughter come down via zip line while you two come back down without getting off. I have not been to ISP since they added the gondola. Check youtube to view excursions. After your update make sure you plan for daughter. Sept makes huge difference. If daughter and other adult family members are not going with express purpose to help with you and your husband leave them out of your planning and let them plan their own trip. Then you don't care about short in port times. I also urge you to reconsider Oct. Also make sure you add cancel for any reason trip insurance and check on your health insurance coverage on the trip if something bad were to happen. I recommend passports in case you need to fly back from any AK cities. We like Holland America but they don't even go in Sept that I could find.

The hardest part is finding air fare round trip to SEA, or one way to ANC and YVR that is affordable plus cost from airport to ship.

You can search youtube to see what G/B is like. Several miss it for various reasons (weather etc). Our first trip we stood out in the cold rain. Wouldn't do that now. I wondered about if you could file a claim with UnCruise for one seventh of the cruse cost. That wouldn't help with travel but may help a little. Not sure if the UnCruise got to see G/B before fire but I think that they will get their fare refunded. sightcrr.

My guess is that for each of the bear sightings above all were on other tours visiting other things and or not in the ports where op is going. I'd say very lucky, fortunate and quick glances. Victoria gardens are spectacular but 30-45 min outside of town, possible lack of daylight and rushing to see things not sure it is worth the bother. If you plan to do Butchart I would do RCCL only. Ketch: Crab boat tour. Sitka: Bird refuge. Juneau: glacier helo (pricy but worth it) or whale watch. Victoria: Likely quick stop so don't bother with tour. Notes: wont see bears unless in mid-late Sept or in zoo like settings. Look for tours on youtube. Someone has done a video on just about every tour that there is. sightcrr
