That is what is great about AK is that you can do whatever you want. No one cares what you do except you. Don't bother with trying to find food on shore when you have so many great food places on the ship that is included or some upcharge and far fewer people than normal. No issues worrying about food allergies. fyi the casino likely closed in port. sightcrr

For a mid Sept tour to Ketch read up on sightseeing at Herring Cove little ways out of Ketch to see the black bears feeding on salmon. Mid Sept is what makes this worth looking into. Very few places in Ak where you can see bears without a fly in. sightcrr.

The 75 lbs is because if weighting less there is a chance that the person does not make it to the landing. Search youtube for ak zip lines and you will find some more info.

It is sorta wild but flying close. The Ketch crab boat tour is permitted to feed them in tribal waters so they come very close to the boat to get fish parts out of the water. Search for tour info on youtube (not the ad ones but ones by individual). You will never see eagles like this anywhere. sightcrr.

If it is a non-ship tour often they will get back early so head straight to the tram and see if you make it (that is if you can see the top of the Mt). If it is a ship tour never mind as they will likely be trying to sell you more stuff. sightcrr.

Unless you have a large group take everyone in your party to pick up the car so you don't have to come back to ship. Lots to see and do near and past the airport. Plan for gas stop near airport for return. sightcrr

Go to your local library and check out the newest copy of the Milepost. It will give you everything that you will find. Lots to see. Past the glacier the free city gardens, St Teressia walk, salmon hatchery on the way, Eagle beach. Close to town Gold Creek. When the M/P says to look for animals look for animals. Look into Crab Boat tour altho it will be pricy. Search tubetube for excursions and show others to get their ideas. 8 year old would be perfect age to go on the trip. If anyone has a national park pass have them bring it as it will save a little. sightcrr.

Don't think that they are allowed to make outside pa in G/B due to noise. Bridge cam on room tv is one way. I bet it is cold and windy out there now. sightcrr

I would say three things to look at are Crab Boat Tour in Ketchikan, helo in Juneau and Matanuska Glacier 1 hour north of ANC on your own. Search youtube and it will have a video on every tour available but skip the ad ones and view the personal ones. sightcrr
