  1. The sun will be there and (hopefully) so will you. Another thing that I forgot to mention: during every Equinox (Spring or Fall), the sun always rises exactly due east and always sets exactly due west in every part of the world (with the special exception of the North and South Poles where the directions east and west don't exist). Night time and day time are also equal on the Equinox days (hence the derivation for the term Equinox). Your sailing starts hours after the Fall Equinox, so the sun pretty much sets due west during your entire cruise. So I really didn't need an app to answer your sun set question.
  2. You are welcome. You are now obligated to post a sunset photo during your cruise on Cruise Critic. BTW, you replied before I edited my post and so I wanted to point out an error: I was wrong about the Equinox. You will be sailing just after the Equinox (the autumnal one, not the ship).
  3. I just ran a simulator on my app for Sep 25 2024 (3rd of 5 straight sea days) set for an ocean location in the middle between Vancouver and Hawaii. The sun sets at a little after 6pm local time and almost exactly due west (you can see the faint "W" marker--indicating due west--just below the sun and Mercury in the screenshot below). Since Solstice will be generally heading southwest during your string of sea days, your cabin will need to be on the starboard (right) side of the ship to see the sun set from your balcony (and maybe the elusive green flash). The moon will be near its last quarter phase during that night which means it won't rise until around midnight (in full view of the port side of the ship).
  4. Alternatively, email your request and proof of stock ownership to ShareholderBenefit@rccl.com. That has worked better for me than the online site.
  5. Think of the new suite deposit policy as a "lower final payment program" (but don't cancel if it is NRD).
  6. New suite deposit policy goes into effect on Jun1.
  7. Wow. So if Celebrity ran a sale on inside cabins, it would be even more unfair.
  8. We rarely do suites. We do have an Xpedition Suite for our upcoming Galapagos trip in Nov. We already deposited $900 x 2 which exceeds the 10% of the total fare. We are looking forward to it although no Retreat Area (I may have to tape one off on the floor and deck just like Les Nessman would).
  9. Maybe Zenith is only cool when you don't have it. Sounds like the "this is it?" let down I had when I got my degree.
  10. Well, I would say that the casino did a good job of reducing the size of your problem. But I think you are ahead by 12 cruises, right? Our son told us last week that during his business trip that he and his friend lost enough money ($300-500 each) at the blackjack table (Boston Encore) that they didn't have enough left for a minimum bet. So on the way out they decided to pool their leftover money (~$15) and bet it on red and won. They let it ride and won again. They went back to the blackjack table and his friend proceeded to win most of his losses back while my son won half. They are both in private equity so I don't know if that was a good object lesson for them.
  11. I find that the casino usually takes care of my deposit problem, if you know what I mean.
  12. You will have to forgive the Celebrity Burger. Good to hear you liked everything else though.
  13. Your Princess cruise sounds very exciting. We are taking a much smaller version of this cruise (Solstice, Apr 2025) which is only 17 nights and goes from Sydney to Hawaii.
  14. Thank you for posting your wonderful and detailed review. I am so sorry to read about your DH's passing--now almost exactly a year ago--and hence was unable to join you on your cruise--at least physically. Your information about your favorable experiences with Flights by Celebrity and the MoveUp process was great to read. And I was also gratified to read that you were able to capitalize on your $10pp WiFi upgrade (we bought that, too, for our upcoming Solstice cruise in December). My wife and I cruised on Constellation during her transatlantic this past Oct/Nov. You are right--great ship and crew. It sounds like your ship sailed with much less passengers than ours did. Now that you have your first TA under your belt, how did the itinerary rate compared to your other cruises? Would you sail on another--or is this more a been there, done that, check-the-box thing? Again, thank you for posting.
  15. Yes, Millennium and Summit Sunset Veranda cabins are the same.
  16. Yes, that is one possible outcome from the kiss of death words, "nothing has changed". In all seriousness, I hope everything is ok and that nothing has changed. Over the years, I have read about cruise cancellations that were often (but not always) preceded by a Celebrity phone rep saying that there is nothing to worry about and that everything is good. Usually that is because the phone reps don't get the fast breaking information that often pop up on these boards.
  17. Sue, when you click on the link in my earlier post you don't see a registration page with these fields to put your Captains Club number in? Here is a larger image:

    Koh Samui

I am curious, too, as my wife and I will be on Solstice in Dec calling on Koh Samui (12 night Singapore to Hong Kong).
  19. Interesting. Give the link that I supplied a try.
  20. I agree. Give me a "C"! Give me an "E"!.......
  21. Congratulations, you are the current holder of the trophy for successfully catching a 8:45 am departure.
