  1. Casino stocks, hotels, airlines, Disney are sharply down.
  2. The non-priority line to get on the tender back to Infinity was very, very long. It's something I have yet to experience at any Caribbean port.
  3. It allows me to judge for myself. When we took our Oct TA cruise, the emails and website at that time were consistent.
  4. I remember being envious of this when we were waiting in line to catch our tender from Puerto Montt, Chile to get back on Infinity.
  5. Bookings have dropped because of cutbacks? Maybe not.
  6. The downside to waiting is that your excursion will be full before you are able to sign up. It is best to book now and then watch for discounts. If/when they a better price appears, you can cancel/rebook.
  7. Our one holiday experience was the opposite, fortunately. We did 15 night Valparaiso to Buenos Aires over Christmas 2016 thru New Years Day 2017 aboard Infinity. There were some families (I brought mine although they were college kids). The cruise was very nice and I don't remember kids running amok. The weather during the cruise was very nice although the temperatures throughout the trip varied a lot because of the large changes in latitude (hot in Buenos Airs, cool at Cape Horn). Our cruise day at Cape Horn had some rain but the seas were very smooth. Isla Magdalena, Dec 30 2016
  8. I don't blame you. You only need to hang on for just a little longer. I must wait until Nov.
  9. Mine is next year. I thought you were going next month. Or both?
  10. Does it declare itself as being extra? Or do you just notice that your OBC went up by $50?
  11. We have one cruise booked in 2024--a 14 night Canal cruise (Summit). No increase in OBC appears. The OBC for the booking already was pretty high because we have a quad.
  12. If you hold multiple bookings, did this mysterious $50 OBC show up against only one of them or more? I just searched through our four bookings and they appear to be untouched by an extra $50 OBC.
  13. We took two Solstice cruises out of Sydney and enjoyed them very much. Nice city, nice ship. Enjoy your cruise.
  14. An astronomer, then. If he was packing a telescope, he most definitely was an astronomer. If he was packing a zodiac wheel, perhaps an astrologer.
  15. The mighty United States has suffered military defeat every time an armed conflict has occurred with Canada. I think there were two "invasions" of Canada that were unsuccessful. One occurred during the American Revolutionary War. Another occurred during the War of 1812 which you referred to. Although it was technically a USA vs British skirmish occurring on modern day USA + Canada soil, I remember learning during a trip to the Puget Sound area that there was a post War of 1812 armed dispute over a pig and the San Juan Islands boundaries that went nowhere as well. Today the USA and Canada proudly share the world's longest undefended border. The best I think that we can do is hope to beat Canada in ice hockey.
  16. I would do it, although I don't know if there are any undesirable CC cabins that you could land in. I would take the chance. You should pick up what little perks you get for Concierge Class for free. Also Concierge Class gets 5x club points for each night of sailing while veranda gets 3x.
  17. The standard method is to tape down onto the carpet an extension cord running from the outlet by the desk to the unit by your bedside. I don't like it either. On our last cruise (Constellation) my wife decided to put magnetic hooks on the ceiling and then used them to string the extension cord across our non-suite stateroom. It is still tacky looking when hung at night, but during the day we could easily take the cord down (and put back up easily later before bed). Although we have sailed on Solstice twice, we have not been in a stateroom where there was a night stand or light that was plugged into the wall next to our bed. We have seen this in cabins on other ships (M class). In those cases, we found the night stand light plugged into a Euro receptacle although it took some effort to get to it. Someone on a similar subject thread reported that they had a device to plug into a Euro receptacle that allowed the night stand light to be plugged into it with a spare American style outlet to use for their CPAP. Sounded slick.
  18. "Honey, I found the perfect cabin to upgrade from"
  19. Here are the current flyers from Celebrity explaining the booking onboard process and benefits. https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/FCV_FAQsv7.pdf https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/2022_CruiseLater_TCCv2.pdf Note that you have two options when you book onboard. The first one is to book a cabin for a specific sailing (aka Book Now). You pay a reduced deposit ($100 pp) and you get OBC depending on the cabin type and sailing length. I have usually used this option. The second option is to put a $100 pp deposit down to retain the right to choose a sailing date later (aka Book Later). You are given a specific length of time to exercise that option. That time period used to be fairly short (1-2 months?) but now Celebrity has been changing recently from 6 months, 12 months, to even 18 months. This extended length of time makes this option much more appealing. Again, you will get OBC depending on the cabin category and sailing length. The form in the links currently give you 6 months to make a choice. During my last cruise, I actually used this option and purchased two separation Book Later options which I used a couple months later when the new 2024/25 sailings were released. So when you get on Equinox, you will want to see what your specific paperwork says. Here are the forms that were distributed during my Oct/Nov Constellation cruise. Back then we were given 18 months to decide on a sailing. You can click or tap on the images to magnify them to read the fine print better.
  20. I agree. This solves one problem where at least the cabin you want is available because you are able to choose it during booking. However I don't know if there is a requirement that the cabin category below it (which the price would be based on) has to be available in order to get the free upgrade. Maybe someone can comment about that from their experience.
