  1. Sorry, but picture this, you put your children in Splash Academy and go off the ship to travel ALL DAY to Paris (3 hours each way plus 3 or so hours to sightsee), and somehow you get into a bit of a mishap and are unable to get back in time and the ship sails with your little ones without you. No thanks, and that is the reason the Splash Academy do not open the hours the ship is in port. Find some short excursions that the whole family will enjoy off ship.
  2. Your live thread brings back memories of our Oct 2014 Jade cruise to the Greek Isles. Pre-mega-ships days and it was quite easy to get around in both Santorini and Mykonos - we just took the cable up to Fira (10-15 mins wait) and hired a Smart car and zoomed around the island, ending up in Oia for sunset dinner, and drove back to Fira to return the car and went to a restaurant for dessert, greek coffee and ouzo with views of ship. Then took the cable back down - a few mins wait. Oh, those days! Now, we're afraid to go back, waste of cruise. 😢
  3. Maybe not Lee .... you're departing on MSC Mera on the 18th Sept, right? That's a good 11 days away, Lee may be gone then. But there may be others, ugh, we are in the hurricane alley!
  4. Right now MSC Meravoglia is docked at Heritage Wharf, with a bit of black soot coming out …. BTW, we do have nice and sunny days during the winter, however, the days are shorter so that’s why ships need to depart by 3:30 pm in order to get out of the channel and Bermuda and have the pilot returned to the pilot boat before dark.
  5. Yes. When we were planning the B2B Alaskan cruises we originally booked the Van-Sew-Van and I’d decided that we’d take the NCL disembark city tour that ended up at airport, put our luggage in the left luggage storage at airport and take the train back into city to do sh!t until it was time to catch the late flight to YYZ and BDA. But it fell thru when I found Vancouver hotels extremely expensive, AC wasn’t flying out of Bermuda on the day we wanted (and also expensive). So I researched more and was able to nag better deals if we changed our B2B to Sew-Van-Sew. The rest is history and we had fantastic trip pre-cruise and the cruise itself. We’d been to Vancouver before and did the HOHO bus and now it’s the been there done that place. We spent an overnight in Anchorage (did the floatplane city sightseeing tour (30 mins) that was great!) before heading to Seward on the early morning train to Seward (GoldStar dome class) and staying 2 nights in Seward. We did the Kenai Fjords cruise the next day.
  6. Keep Calm and Carry On Watching the Safety Video. 😁
  7. That’s exactly the reason why we can’t/won’t and will never use NCL Air. We live in Bermuda and book our own air. We have several gateway airports in the US and we need to find and book suitable flights. Example we booked AA to go to Chicago via JFK to catch the Alaska Air to Anchorage and on way home after the Alaska Air from Anchorage to Seattle we caught the AA flights home via Charlotte. That’s two different gateway airports So if we choose NCL Air we’d need to pick the one gateway - won’t work for us. I have always managed to find great deals for the long haul flights with one maybe 2 stopovers.
  8. According to ORD arrivals and departures, you've arrived at gate E3, and your next flight leaves from gate C28.
  9. Twice we came across a person lying across the armless seats, and each time I counted out loudly each seat the person was lying across, like “One two three four”. That worked as either the person woke up and moved or somebody else woke the person up to tell her to sit up as there were other ppl wanting to sit down.
  10. Don’t select Bermuda Cruises. Select Joy and the months you want to cruise. A glitch that Joy isn’t showing up when you select Bermuda Cruises 🙀
  11. @ceilidh1 quick, pop around and take a pic of him for us to see.
  12. You may need to realize that not everyone has the TSA keys to unlock the luggage, like the airline personnel (non-TSA personnel) ….
  13. Is the “inside” locked? I always put our travel details in the side pockets of the luggage that aren’t locked with padlocks.
  14. Righto. Fares are so cheap for that TA cruise, so OP needs to be fully prepared on what’s going to be going on the TA cruise toward the shipyard. OP, maybe a good experience to see the going ons when preparing for the 3 weeks dry dock.
  15. Best to put all on one single thread rather than in individual threads.
  16. We have been on two cruises that went to Egypt …. once to Alexandria (NCL overnight tour to Cairo) and again in Safaga (independent overnight tour to Luxor) and neither times did we need to obtain Egyptian visa beforehand. NCL handled that on board after we surrendered our passports to them at embarkation.
  17. Wish you had tried Le Bistro as their filet mignon tops the ones in Cagney's and La Cucina. Also, the Steak Tartare in Le Bistro is delicious, and more importantly the French Onion soup there is the best! MDR menus rotate every 14-21 days, depending on ship/region.
  18. Two NCL ships per week from April to November. One out of New York and the other out of Boston (smaller ship). They stay here two overnights. Sometimes the smaller ship stays 3 overnights. This year it has been the Joy out of New York and the Pearl out of Boston. Next Year 2024 it's the Joy again out of New York and the Gem out of Boston. The ships for Bermuda 2025 have not been announced. But it's usually one mega ship out of New York, and one smaller ship out of Boston. Been like these for the last decade or so. Other NCL ships do go to Bermuda as occasional callers, usually on longer itineraries or on transatlantic crossings.
  19. What happened was, Idalia was supposed to be tropical depression but she strengthened overnight last night and lasted all day with high winds and surf. We were not able to see the Joy all day until early this evening- it was a white out with wind and heavy rains. Now we can see the Joy all lit up.
