If you will recall, the OC quit including the name of the restaurant managers on the internet list of crew and entertainers on specific cruises. Does that have anything to do with it, I don't know. Patty
-
Just so those not as familiar with OC understand, the washer/dryer combo is available on the Symphony ONLY in the 2018 remodel to what they called the Seabreeze Penthouse Suite. No washer/dryer on the Serenity remodel. Patty

I have a question to "some" of you, if anyone other than Keith had posted that "many" Crystal crew members would be returning, would you have even bothered to respond? That's what I thought! 😱🤪🤣 Patty

Even the temperature varies with the weather. As I posted above, I was there on a beautiful day in July and I'd say it was in the 50s. Had the wind not been blowing off the water it would have not really been even cool with the almost 24 hours of sunshine.

You take the gross tons and divide by guest capacity. I don't really understand but know that in this case "ton" is not a unit of weight but a unit of area, but reducing it to cubic feet is not correct. If you look at the same comparison on many mass market ships, it's in the 40s, so the Crystal "closet" is over twice the size.

Remember that in 1956 and 1958 I wore a dress. My 1964 it was Bermuda shorts. The unwritten dress code was changing fast!! Patty

Does a travel agent help with Silversea or better to book direct?
Texas Tillie replied to homeatlast's topic in Silversea
I'd always use an independent agent whose first loyalty is to the client rather than someone employed by the cruise line who knows on which side their bread is buttered. -
I did it in July and was there on a gloriously clear day. That being said, it is one of those locations where you pay your money and take your chances as to the weather. It's a real crap shoot.

Anyone here been to Disneyland earlier than the first time I was there? It opened in July, 1955 and I was first there in August, 1956. It's been a while and there's a lot I haven't seen as my visits there were in 1956, 1958 and 1964. 🤪😃🙃 Patty

Agree 100% but you know there are many who post here who insist on their own "facts" and not the real facts.

The Genting that owned Crystal IS NOT still operating. It's in bankruptcy. Like many uberwealthy, the crook who owned the various "Genting" organizations had his investments partitioned so that the left hand had to responsibility for the right hand.

From my experience I'd think that is true. I am getting at least one and sometimes multiple emails each day from Seabourn, a line I've never sailed. Patty

Ah, the church across from where the Mozart would "park" in Vienna! And, the interesting part, it just looks old, it's not much more than 100 years old. Patty

Pointing out that the second gap starts in "Venice" and ends in Athens, so it's doubtful any drydock is involved . I'd think it's for either Manifredi's nearest and dearest or travel agents or some combo thereof. Patty

It's Lone Star, 2 words. What about Shiner?
-
There is a second 3 day gap. A cruise ends in Venice (well, somewhere nearby) Oct. 6 and there isn't another cruise available to book until Oct. 9 sailing from Athens. Are those 2 gaps for all of Manfredi's nearest and dearest? Patty

The ink/paper set off my allergies and resulted in the worst sneezing fit I've ever had!! That was after scraping my knuckle pulling it out of my mail box because it really didn't fit but the post office had shoved it in anyway!!
-
If you are including Viking, why didn't you include Oceania and Azamara? None of them are "luxury". Patty P.S. At least you spelled the others correctly which often isn't the case! 🤪

The Gulf Freeway (I 45, downtown Houston to Galveston) was started in 1954 and there has been construction somewhere along the road every second since then!! 😉🤣😱

The situation with the World Cruise is not unusual. All cruise lines hold a certain number of cabins in all categories hoping that they will get more bookings for the full World Cruise. At a certain point they will release those cabins to be booked by segment. Patty

As a longtime Crystal cruiser/Cruise Critic participant, the decline in the people posting on Roll Calls started a while before Old Crystal went kaput, actually before the Covid shut down. The reasons are probably as varied as the people who no longer post. I have 2 bookings with Crystal but haven't posted on the roll calls and probably won't. I have my reasons, others have theirs. Oh, I know about Tilman, just surprised that large food operations would allow a "competitor" to own even one of their franchises.
-
Are you saying they own a Chick-fil-A (correct spelling) franchise and an IHOP franchise? Surprised about that.

Shore Excursion options are now listed for early Serenity Cruises
