  1. You take the gross tons and divide by guest capacity. I don't really understand but know that in this case "ton" is not a unit of weight but a unit of area, but reducing it to cubic feet is not correct. If you look at the same comparison on many mass market ships, it's in the 40s, so the Crystal "closet" is over twice the size.
  2. Remember that in 1956 and 1958 I wore a dress. My 1964 it was Bermuda shorts. The unwritten dress code was changing fast!! Patty
  3. I'd always use an independent agent whose first loyalty is to the client rather than someone employed by the cruise line who knows on which side their bread is buttered.
  4. I did it in July and was there on a gloriously clear day. That being said, it is one of those locations where you pay your money and take your chances as to the weather. It's a real crap shoot.
  5. Anyone here been to Disneyland earlier than the first time I was there? It opened in July, 1955 and I was first there in August, 1956. It's been a while and there's a lot I haven't seen as my visits there were in 1956, 1958 and 1964. 🤪😃🙃 Patty
  6. Agree 100% but you know there are many who post here who insist on their own "facts" and not the real facts.
  7. The Genting that owned Crystal IS NOT still operating. It's in bankruptcy. Like many uberwealthy, the crook who owned the various "Genting" organizations had his investments partitioned so that the left hand had to responsibility for the right hand.
  8. I've always thought that the Viking passenger was someone moving up from Celebrity, Holland America or Princess looking for a smaller ship. I can see regular cruisers from the truly luxury lines doing a Viking with a special itinerary on a rare occasion, but not regularly. Patty
  9. From my experience I'd think that is true. I am getting at least one and sometimes multiple emails each day from Seabourn, a line I've never sailed. Patty
  10. Ah, the church across from where the Mozart would "park" in Vienna! And, the interesting part, it just looks old, it's not much more than 100 years old. Patty
  11. Pointing out that the second gap starts in "Venice" and ends in Athens, so it's doubtful any drydock is involved . I'd think it's for either Manifredi's nearest and dearest or travel agents or some combo thereof. Patty
  12. It's Lone Star, 2 words. What about Shiner?
  13. There is a second 3 day gap. A cruise ends in Venice (well, somewhere nearby) Oct. 6 and there isn't another cruise available to book until Oct. 9 sailing from Athens. Are those 2 gaps for all of Manfredi's nearest and dearest? Patty
  14. The ink/paper set off my allergies and resulted in the worst sneezing fit I've ever had!! That was after scraping my knuckle pulling it out of my mail box because it really didn't fit but the post office had shoved it in anyway!!
  15. If you are including Viking, why didn't you include Oceania and Azamara? None of them are "luxury". Patty P.S. At least you spelled the others correctly which often isn't the case! 🤪
  16. The Gulf Freeway (I 45, downtown Houston to Galveston) was started in 1954 and there has been construction somewhere along the road every second since then!! 😉🤣😱
  17. The situation with the World Cruise is not unusual. All cruise lines hold a certain number of cabins in all categories hoping that they will get more bookings for the full World Cruise. At a certain point they will release those cabins to be booked by segment. Patty
  18. As a longtime Crystal cruiser/Cruise Critic participant, the decline in the people posting on Roll Calls started a while before Old Crystal went kaput, actually before the Covid shut down. The reasons are probably as varied as the people who no longer post. I have 2 bookings with Crystal but haven't posted on the roll calls and probably won't. I have my reasons, others have theirs. Patty
  19. Oh, I know about Tilman, just surprised that large food operations would allow a "competitor" to own even one of their franchises.
  20. Are you saying they own a Chick-fil-A (correct spelling) franchise and an IHOP franchise? Surprised about that.
  21. It's there if you scroll to the bottom of the page! Patty
  22. Why don't you try the new Crystal, since it's now owned by your favorite Italian? 🤪😉🤣
  23. The answer is almost always $$$. Expect more of this now that Royal Caribbean pulls the purse strings.
  24. No, they don't. The I stands for Intercontinental!
