  1. Are you trying to upgrade both rooms? If so, I don’t know that you can do that.
  2. Updated list-any more? 1. British 1 2. British 2 3. Lotus 4. Asian Panorama 5. Xiang 6. California 7. Route des Indes 8. Scandinavian 9. Mexican (not it’s actual name) 10. Food through Time (not it’s actual name) 11. Sweet & Salty 12. French Bistro 13. Australia 2 (makes me think there must be a #1?) 14. Darling Downs 14. Carnival
  3. California is #6 on my list. I don’t remember unfortunately.
  4. Maybe but that isn’t what he said. He and Karen Burns-Booth were discussing the different menus and he said their were a total of 21 and that they rotate through them every three days.
  5. Just remembered one that I want to try but have never had the opportunity. 1. British 1 2. British 2 3. Lotus 4. Asian Panorama 5. Xiang 6. California 7. Route des Indes 8. Scandinavian 9. Mexican (not it’s actual name) 10. Food through Time (not it’s actual name) 11. Sweet & Salty
  6. On VikingTV yesterday, the Chef said there a total of 21 menus at the Chef’s Table. I didn’t know there were that many. Below are the ones I can name…can we put together a complete list? 1. British 1 2. British 2 3. Lotus 4. Asian Panorama 5. Xiang 6. California 7. Route des Indes 8. Scandinavian 9. Mexican (not it’s actual name) 10. Food through Time (not it’s actual name) That’s less than half! I know that a friend on the World Cruise mentioned an Indian? Shri Lankan? Menu that they enjoyed but it was a one off he was told. Can anyone help complete this list?
  7. Both Rome and Barcelona are easy to do on your own if amongst all the wedding planning you have time to do trip planning. If you can swing a couple more days, I would try to do at least two (there would be better) nights in Rome. You’ll spend the morning you arrive getting from the airport to wherever you’re staying and the morning you sail getting from Rome to Civittivechia. So two nights means you really only have one and a half days there. Better than none at all, but have another day would be better. I would also try to spend at least two nights in Barcelona, again more would be better. If you’re going to do either city independently, be sure and go online as soon as you know your dates and book admission to the Vatican Museum and to Sagrada Famila. Congratulations and don’t hesitate to ask if you need recommendations for either city.
  8. You’ll be fine then! It’s the folks who aren’t live and let live who just want to complain….and at least from my experience they only do it on here. I’ve never heard any guest say anything to another guest about their attire. I have heard the Maitre d’ ask a guest to change clothes or visit the WC but only once. It’s my experience that almost every onboard abides by Viking’s dress code.
  9. Just paying it forward. If you only have time for one sight in Kyoto, I think I would go to the 10,000 gates. have a great time.
  10. We did Kyoto and Hiroshima independently after a transpacific cruise on another line. All of this was pre-COVID so I suspect it will be more difficult now. I know I just saw an article that Japan has just increased the number of visas allowed per day but it is still MUCH lower than before the pan-Dammit. in Kyoto, we enjoyed visiting the Imperial Palace. We also did a “Free Walking Tour” that took us through the Gion District. We timed it to also visit the Geisha Center and attended their presentation. But the highlight of Kyoto (other than the food) was visiting the Fushi Inari Shrine and seeing the thousand gates. We went so we arrived just after the sun set so most everyone was leaving. Made it much nicer than with the thousands of people there. We did a day trip on the train from Kyoto to Hiroshima. We hd a “goodwill” guide there. If that program is back up and running we highly recommend it whenever possible. You pay only for the guide’s transportation (ours had a monthly pass so we didn’t have to even pay that), admission, and any meals. It was a great way to see the sights and get to know someone. We visited the Peace Park, the Toriji Gates (I think maybe this is the floating park you mentioned) and had lunch. If you want more details on what we did, you can read my blog starting here: https://cruisinwithclay.wordpress.com/2019/10/13/kyoto-day-1/ Have a great time-we loved Japan and Kyoto especially!
  11. Which is exactly why I am in the minority and wish Viking had a little box to check on MVJ-do you need luggage tags? Do you need a pouch? I know at some point in the future I may need some more luggage tags but it won’t be anytime soon given how many are on the shelf #firstworldproblem
  12. At least from MDW you could go to ORD if you had to
  13. Since I don’t know where you are cruising I can’t know if our situation is similar to yours. We have chosen to go with Viking Air for our Hong Kong to Bangkok cruise in October 22 for two reasons. First it was “included”. 😂. Second, because at the moment our embarkation port of Hong Kong requires a quarantine period and since the ship will be there for a double overnight (our cruise is one of several segments on a Vancouver to Sydney cruise) I suspect if Viking is unable to have their continuing passengers leave the ship for three days that they may change the embarkation port. We don’t want to be dealing with trying to buy last minute transpacific airfare to say Taiwan if Viking makes a change. So perhaps a change like this isn’t a concern for your cruise but thought I would share our thinking just in case it might be. Good Luck with your decision making.
  14. To help me decide, I would check to see what the alternatives are at each airport if your inbound flight is late or the connecting one gets canceled or delayed. I always want the connecting airport with the most options.
  15. On each of our cruises, there have always been six or eight young or young at heart folks who find each other and make Torshaven what becomes by 10 pm all but their private nightclub. As others have said, it will not be the party ship that you would expect from Carnival….so it depends so much on what vibe you want. Congratulations and Best Wishes for a great life together!
  16. Dunno - hopefully someone will respond
  17. It wasn’t with Viking Air but we had this happen on our way to Iceland last summer. We had booked Delta Premium Economy seats but they changed the aircraft and we got a free upgrade to Delta One. Certainly not something to count on.
  18. I suggest downloading it before you board.
  19. Don’t be surprised if that message disappears and is replaced by the the one below. Just after booking I had the message I’ve posted. Then a week or so later the message you posted appeared and we got excited that perhaps we would see what our flights would be. Then a week or so (not a day or two), the initial message reappeared and has been there ever since 😢
  20. And it lets us work around our favorite meals in The Restaurant. To the OP, be sure and download the Vikiing app to your phone and once onboard login. In the before times, it was the easiest way to see menus for all venues and to make reservations. This could also be done via the TV in your stateroom. During our last cruise, July 2021 neither the app nor the TV had the menus so we had to go stand in line at the reservation desk😢. Someone recently posted at during their Dec 2021 cruise the app and TV were working fine. So hopefully it was a glitch related to restarting.
  21. We have never been able to see the menus until we are aboard. Therefore we never make Chef’s Table reservations until then.
  22. Does next September mean 2022? If so hopefully you’re still aboard for the Hong Kong to Bangkok segment. Need to buy you a drink for all the vicarious pleasure you provided via your WC blog.
