  1. Because Az don't allow it. If that's such an issue for you, book one of the lines who do! 😉
  2. I have never understood why anyone would expect to apply OBC to any spend before boarding, so it makes sense to me! But it is still an offer for us, as we would only get 5% discount on board and DW will happily use our OBC on a spa treatment or two. 😊
  3. We are, and never feel the absence of a balcony. With 55 cruises sailed, across 16 cruiselines, I'd estimate no more than 25% of our bookings were balcony. Most outside or inside cabins, they cost less and enable us to cruise more often. The WS outside cabins are the same size as balcony, with acres of space. The outside spaces of the ship will be our 'balcony'. We are eagerly awaiting our first WS cruise, from everything we've read we are truly excited about sailing with them.
  4. According to my TA, not for us mere mortals! When I booked our 7 nights from 18th November, back in early August, the cabins at that time were 96% booked before our booking so that equates to about 12 cabins available then. But, it's impossible to know how many solo passengers are booked.
  5. If I had taken the time to summarise our Onward cruise back in May it would have been very similar to your experience, that is what we feel about the food and we always mix our evening dining between MDR and specialties. Your point about not being 100% perfect, and never been on a cruise that was is spot on. Across 16 cruiselines, none could be described as perfect nor would we expect them to be. We are booked on Quest next month, eagerly anticipating the experience once again.
  6. The only thing to say is you'd get a much cheaper Paella in the best restaurant available! That said, I do understand for many it's an experience, but certainly not for us at that price. 😲
  7. Considering a Chefs Table on our upcoming Transatlantic, and this thread is whetting our appetite on a horrid rainy day here. Perhaps, with no destinations to have an early evening for early rise, more would sign up on this type of cruise?
  8. Not as such, but the whole point of my posting was that the WS deck BBQ looks similar to the Az White Night! Are you on the 18 Nov sailing from Barbados?
  9. Azamara, responding to Jazzbeau, suggesting WS will be even better! 😊 Jazz is a host on both Az and WS.....and very good at that!
  10. I wouldn't trust a response from a form submitted to Az, or any cruiseline for that matter. Australia does what they do, and there are NO guarantees they would do then what they may tell Az now! You have excellent advice at posts #10 and #12.....I would strongly recommend you take said advice. 😉
  11. That's why they have the small print, which 99% of passengers do not read! 😉
  12. That was exactly my thought when reading HDWTs' account of the deck barbecue, and the destination discoveries event in Ephesus. Because we have a transatlantic Azamara cruise to Barbados, and 'meet' the Star Pride there for our November cruise, there certainly wont be a destination event. Guess there may be a White Night (similar to WS deck barbecue) a couple of days from Barbados if the weather is good! We too are excitedly anticipating WS, particularly their food offerings which do seem to be a notch above Azamara.
  13. If you manage to apply OBC, then I've missed a trick in assuming that wouldn't be allowed as I paid by cc. OBC, for me at least, is what it says on the tin!
  14. Ditto, and upgraded our drinks....mainly for DW, who is a Whispering Angel fan!
  15. The IP is not included in the promotion, as far as I can see. This is precisely the offering: We can't wait to welcome you onboard for your upcoming cruise! Now through October 20, 2023, you can save up to 20% on immersive Shore Excursions, Unlimited Internet Package, or upgrade to top-shelf liquors and wines with the Ultimate Beverage Package. Whether you want to explore like a local with shore excursions, share your favorite memories of your cruise in real time, or enjoy exquisite wines and cocktails, we have the perfect package to make your voyage truly exceptional. We accepted one of the items offered, booked it with no problems, and consider it most generous! 😉
  16. We are scheduled to cruise Quest for 9 nights Lisbon to Barbados next month. Obviously, mainly sea days with one port stop only in Madeira. To those who have experienced similar cruises, are the EM packages offered on such cruises? If so, is the pricing different from standard published amounts and are the elements of the package structured differently? For destination intensive cruises the main, and key element, to these packages is the excursion credit and that has much less appeal with only one port stop. TIA for any insights.
  17. I suppose it doesn't really matter, but it's good to see a photo of the thread author so thank you for that and all the posts. Much appreciated by us. 😊
  18. Great information and, yes would be good to hear what is offered at the Captains' reception. Also, is it clear what size a single measure of spirits is either in ounce or mls please. TIA.
  19. Following with great interest, scheduled to board our first Windstar cruise on the Pride next month. Do they have a captains welcome aboard event on the first evening? We are undecided whether or not to go with the all in package, or pay as we go, and wondered if there are drinks provided at any such events?
  20. Interesting observation, and it's word for word identical on the Az website here in the UK. What I do not know, did the wording change recently or was that always the case?
  21. I am fairly sure, but not certain, that MSC currently use that port on a few of their cruises and it's a boarding point too.
  22. That's fair enough, but Az should just be honest and do them all on board! Wouldn't bother us overall, but it's the way they try to pull the wool over your eyes that does for me. Incidentally, most other lines do similar in different aspects of the cruise....it's the post-covid effect that we see in our lives daily, but certainly by no means a deal breaker.
  23. Back in May, Croatia Intensive, our scheduled Az Evening was to be in an iconic castle in Dubrovnik. The day prior we received a letter announcing that 'due to forecast adverse weather conditions....etc' the troupe would come onboard and perform in the Show Theatre. The weather was very good, and no-one we spoke to onboard had seen the alleged weather forecast! Whilst the show was excellent, it would have generated so much more authenticism in the castle originally intended. It seemed clear to me that they hadn't worked out the logistics of getting 500+ guests onto tenders and ferrying us each way to the harbour! It was a beautiful clear evening, and we watched the tender return to the Harbour with the troupe members, and their equipment, sail off on calm seas to the harbour! Poor from Az IMHO.
