  1. In the US we have agencies that supply people for in home care, it usually 24/7. Everything from registered nurses to home health aides. There are agencies that supply doctors short term. You might see if you have any agencies like that in the UK. EM
  2. I would wear shorts, tshirt, sneakers. Suspect you might be in canoes or other small craft. Doubt there will be any swimming, as there are crocs throughout the canal. EM.
  3. From reading the previous posts on this thread, it is wristbands. EM
  4. We are all assuming that he has a passport…. EM
  5. You might research on the East Coast Departures board, under North American Homeports. You also might post a question on the Princess and Cunard boards, since they are the on,y other lines using Red Hook, and have been for years. EM
  6. Only if the itinerary is unusual and unlikely to be repeated. We booked the Star Princess Pacific Rim cruise for Feb 2002: Singapore,Bangkok, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Okinawa, Tokyo, Honolulu, Maui, LA. 26 nights. At the time we didn’t know it was her first cruise. Nothing special except the welcomes in each port. There were no hiccups that I know of, she had sailed empty across the Indian Ocean from Italy and the crew pretty much tested everything out. EM
  7. If you are going for the ship, do Ascent. If going for the ports, do Connie. EM
  8. Well, welcome to Cruise Critic, but you are in the wrong part of the forum. You should be asking this on the board for the cruise line you are sailing, the Roll Call for your cruise, and the area for your ports on the Ports of Call area. If you don’t know what a Roll Call is, there are pinned topics above that explain them. EM
  9. Am thinking of taking Amtrak from GA to Miami or FLL instead of the insane airline routings. I would have to overnight before and after cruise due to arrival and departure times of the trains. I realize there may not be good hotels nearby, or restaurants, so if. It, what is taxi availability like at the stations? I love trains, and would spring for roomettes for the 12 hr trips…. EM
  10. We would order multiple apps, salad, soup…and sometimes if there was one we couldn’t fit in, we ordered it for dessert…. EM
  11. There are no answers - only suggestions. Here is a picture of the main pool on Divina. You might note there is not much space between loungers, even difficult to get in on and off lounger. There is more space around the aft infinity pool, but I can't remember if that area is adults only.
  12. Bring a small blanket or quilt, or ask cabin steward for one. Find an empty lounge-lots of them are empty during the day - spread it out so he can crawl around. Take toys. There is usually ambient music playing, maybe he would like to dance…. EM
  13. Before we ever left port on MSC Divina we could see our neighbor smoking on her balcony. Immediately called guest services, they came right up and it never happened again. I think it was one of the many guests from Europe, and it may get by more there. EM
  14. You might ask on the Alaska board what to do from Anchorage when it is a port call. EM
  15. People are now having luck with AirTags (Apple) or tile trackers for other smartphone users. EM
  16. Carnival Pride partial transit Feb. 8: moving into third lock at Gatun
  17. Living in an island country, you have options…there are large ferries that travel from your coast to Northern Europe. If you find a cruise you like, but it leaves from Holland, France, Germany…you might start your adventure on an overnight ferry…many have basic cabins, restaurants, shops…. EM
  18. I would look at what is sailing from each port in your time limit/time frame. If you are not constrained by school vacations, you will find that sailing when kids are in school will be less expensive. Next, check airfare from your airport to the departure city. And routes…some routes are ridiculous. Then, it is always recommended that you fly in the day before, particularly in seasons that there might be flight delays, such as snow… You might need to make a spreadsheet… you may find that the cost of airfare and pre-cruise hotel will be more than the cruise fare. EM
  19. Remember that it is an age range. It likely won’t be 25 six year olds and two nine year olds. He won’t be the only one 9 years old. Have him give it a chance. The best advice is if they have a welcome aboard session/sign up the first night, be sure that they go. That’s when friends groups form…. EM
  20. Theoretically yes. You have to request permission of he cruise line. Providing your port prior to Naples is in a Schengen country, there would not be any customs or immigration formalities. But this is also a year away, who knows what may change. EM
  21. If the seas are rough enough for them to close the cove balcony doors, you won’t want to be out on your regular balcony, either. EM
  22. Sailed Seaside in 2019. Up until five minutes before showtime, you needed a reservation. After that, you could just walk in if there were any seats available. EM
