  1. Sometimes a promo rate will include a certain amount of OBC and that would be per cabin, divided between the first two occupants. But anything that you earned, such as military or shareholder, would all stay with you. EM
  2. When you are replying to an older thread where the OP has not returned, you might address her in the post as @itsanitaand if she has notifications turned on, she will see it. You can also click on her avatar/username and see where she is currently posting. EM
  3. You can edit, it only for about 20 minutes after you post. After that, you have to report as above. EM
  4. I don’t have an answer for you, but it may be you will have to choose one or the other. There used to be a one ship line called Voyages to Antiquity. They use a small and quite old ship, certainly 4-5*. They did unique itineraries with many overnights in port. I never sailed them, but one member here, @cruisemom42really loved them. Perhaps if she sees this, she will stop by with observations and suggestions. Perhaps you should look into some lines that do not sail regularly from the US, or market themselves here. Such as Hapag-Lloyd, Saga (must be over 50), National Geographic, Smithsonian…EM
  5. What ship? What itinerary? Those with anytime would be Aurea, and on some ships they are in a separate dining room. They might allow those from Aurea to dine with you in your dining venue at your fixed time. It’s something your group needs to consider when booking. EM
  6. Sometimes on Caribbean cruises, Mexican riviera…they don’t put bananas out on port days, because so many people tuck them in their bag to take ashore for a snack, and they end up in the discarded bin because it is not allowed. A. It waste they try to avoid. EM
  7. Oh, and here is Eurodam, heading back through the Gatun Locks to Colon to pick up her strays.
  8. I love the Amazon. I was there first in 1994 with a professional group. We started in Manaus and ended at Iguazu Falls at the time of a total eclipse. Second time in 1996 on another Earthwatch Expedition, studying the tropical fish industry, including a journey three days up the Rio Negro to survey and help with a fish festival in Barcelos. In a small leaky boat. Both times there was a cruise ship at the floating pier in Manaus. And I wanted to be on that ship! So in 1999 we did South America, Buenos Aires to Manaus on the original Royal Princess.
  9. There was a thread on the Celebrity board by @GenerationXwhen she did a B2B on Celebrity and then on MSC in a YC inside. She linked the thread here so I am sure it is some pages back…there were cabin pics, too. EM Its actually on the first page of the Celebrity board now.
  10. Good morning, everyone. Especially those enjoying the lovely weather today in the Gatun Locks: But I think they will be wishing for a shower later, to wash off the sweat... My middle name is plain Jane. I believe there may be a Jane or two somewhere on my father's family tree. My sister came along a year before me, and she got parts of both grandmothers: Mary from Mary Edith, And Catharine from Fannie Catherine. Yes, she got an extra a in Catharine from my father's side of the family. I'm just glad I didn't get what was left...Fannie Edith. I have been to Vavau. and Neiafu... In 1989 I spent two weeks there volunteering on an Earthwatch (Institute) Expedition studying Giant Clams. Snorkeling off a 40 ft. motor sailer over the clam beds. When I mention Tonga, most people think it's in Africa. I have many, many pictures but apparently they have never got scanned into my computer. EM
  11. On the contrary, there are times… The last night of our second Divina cruise, we were at dinner and had given our orders, and were munching on bread when my sister turned to me and said ‘I have to go’. I knew immediately that the multigrain roll that she had been eating contained buckwheat, her only allergy. She had to go to our cabin and take Benadryl. She would not be back because the allergy makes it difficult to swallow. I stayed, but dreaded having to go back to the cabin and pack for her, as the Benadryl knocks her out, and for the next day, too. However, she had taken enough that it made her hyper so she could pack before crashing. Fortunately, we travel light, carryon only. Problem #2 is that we are both diabetic, she worse than I, and had already taken her meds. I was just settling for sleep after 11pm when she sat up in bed and said ‘I need to eat’. ( We had early seating). I had to get dressed, go down to the Marketplace and assemble a plate…pizza, salad, sandwich…I knew the buffet was open until 2am at that time. Otherwise I guess it would have been room service…. EM
  12. What time of year were you looking at? I see. Voyager does the Egypt/Israel itinerary in June and august, and I would avoid the August as it will be beast hot there then. Also, on that itinerary you only get three ports, although you do overnight in Alexandria. EM
  13. Platinum boarding group will be A01. Granted, my last two sailings were from Jacksonville, but after you check in there, they look at your boarding pass and seat you in your boarding group row. That seat FTTF in different rows. They didn’t call suites, diamonds, etc. they simply came by your row and said to go. EM
  14. In that case, both ships use the new locks.
  15. One matter mentioned but not addressed is the itinerary. You mentioned Panama Canal, since 10 days, I assume a partial transit. Which ships are you considering, because ship depends on whether you will transit the old historic locks, or the new larger locks. The HAL ships doing partial transits use the old locks. The only partial I have seen this year for Celebrity has been on Edge, which uses the new locks. I believe this is something that deserves some further research on your part before making the decision. EM
  16. There will be taxis and vendors wanting to sell you tours. EM
  17. Your question is not related to the title of the thread, so it is doubtful anyone knowledgeable about NCL will look at it. You should start your own thread for your question, and you should do it on the board here for NCL where those who might have an answer will see it. EM
  18. The only line I have sailed that does/did not change to port time is Carnival. EM
  19. I checked in for my cruise on Thursday in Jacksonville. I had the earliest time, but amazingly, there was no line at all. First station before security involved a friendly German shepherd that showed no interest in my box of Frosted Flakes. At checkin they checked my brand new passport, and the picture was accepted for facial recognition. Four days later, I was one of the earliest off, and at the bottom of the gangway they were directing passports left, BC to the right. I went left with passport in hand, she took one glance to see I had it, said ‘you can put that away, you won’t need it again’. I went forward, stood on the red footprints, it read my face, and I was done. And there was absolutely no one else in the huge hall. So my question is, ‘why would anyone travel without a passport?’ EM
  20. I thought it interesting that on a four night cruise, they had a Chef’s Table three nights. On Elation it’s held in the library, so you can’t miss it. EM
  21. You leave from Brooklyn. And you need to ask this on the MSC board. EM
  22. I think what the OP means is the place at top left of every cruise line board which says ‘See posts about’ and gives you a drop-down menu of the ships of that line, but those two ships are missing…. EM
