  1. Go back to the main boards page. Scroll down to Roll Calls. Click on Celebrity, then on your ship, and look for a thread with the dates for your cruise. That’s where you can connect with other CC members who will be sailing with you. Click on Reply to this thread, just like you did here, and pose your question. EM
  2. I’m not seeing a picture, but I’m betting it’s related to another thread from today about QV…. EM
  3. No laundry room? One of the favorites on the Carnival tours is the machine in the laundry where the feed in the flat, wet sheet and it comes out dry, ironed and folded. EM
  4. Welcome to Cruise Critic. There is a website called cruisedeckplans.com which has pictures of many cruise ship cabins. It is a member site to view the pictures, but pictures of HC cabins can be viewed by non-members. On the website there are copious pictures of 8127, 8129,8130,9034, and a video of 9025. EM
  5. You haven’t said what cruise line you are sailing, but asking on the board here for that line might get you some ideas about cards. There is also a board here for UK cruisers, and there is probably good advice there. So far, most of us are answering from the USA so have our own traditional cards. EM
  6. That’s a standard deluxe OV. If you look at the nearby cabins that are not listed as obstructed, they are called junior OV. But same size. They are tiny with no chair or couch. EM
  7. This depends on the destination. The point is, with a closed loop cruise from the US, you need documentation of citizenship. A birth certificate from a US hospital proves this, so does the passport, and so do the naturalization papers. EM
  8. Not familiar with your UK cards, but if you have a card that is recognized internationally, you can use it no matter what the currency. It is best if your card has no foreign transaction fees. Most purchases can be made with the card. If you think you will want to make small purchases, like small souvenirs or a snack, use a debit card in a bank atm to get a small amount of cash. There are some ships that will have a machine onboard where you can get different currencies, but the exchange rates are terrible. EM
  9. Ask on the Florida Departures board here, under North American Homeports. EM
  10. St Thomas has two piers, Havensight and Crown Bay. There is a larger shops, etc. area at Havensight and you might pick up such tours there. Crown Bay pier is smaller, for just two ships. As suggested, check on the board for St. Thomas.
  11. You might already have a mariner number even if you haven’t sailed HAL. I discovered I had a mariner number after my second Carnival cruise. If you have sailed Carnival, or maybe even Princess, try a dummy booking and have them look up your number. You may be surprised to find you already have one. There are sometimes odd things among the Carnival family of lines. For instance, my Princess Captain’s Circle number, and. Cunard World Club numbers are identical. EM
  12. I just did a dummy booking for a solo inside, and got $475 with taxes and fees. Of course, then there would be air and hotels…. EM
  13. We docked in Crown Bay on Queen Mary 2 back in 2010. Yes, there may have been a lot of changes since then. But at that time the pier was paved and there were several connected buildings with some shops. On the water side of the shops was a rock breakwater, along a brick pavement, and those rocks were home to many, many iguanas. You could just scoot along there and iguana-watch. We were ambulatory, and caught a free shuttle into town, probably to a jewelry store. We browsed around, then could not find transportation back to the pier, so walked all the way. Possibly a mile, maybe less. So, it is doable to go exploring on a scooter. I would bet that the shop selection at the pier has expanded in 12 years, and I think you could get snacks there. EM
  14. It’s to discourage the many people who make deposits on several cruises for the same time frame, and at final payment deciding which one to take. Thus, as mentioned above, tying up those cabins from others. EM
  15. That’s an interesting question and schedule. Most cruise lines make a short very early call at Hellesylt to tender off guests taking an overland route to Geiranger. Then the ship continues on to Geiranger, spending the day there and gathering up the guests from the overland trip. Perhaps Virtuosa is stopping briefly at Hellesylt to let off guests for all day excursions, then continuing on to Geiranger for a drive by, returning to Hellesylt for the rest of the day. Looking at the schedule for Geiranger though, she is not scheduled there at all. In fact there is no one scheduled there for August 30. Sky Princess is also scheduled for Hellesylt on August 30. Interesting. EM
  16. Apparently you booked an empty cabin, and when you changed the bed configuration, that added the beds to the cabin and raised the price. Maybe next time choose sleeping bags…. EM
  17. Divina is a very flashy ship, I certainly would not call her elegant. Glitzy, about 40% non- North American/English speakers. No real formal nights, although I found the European women tended to dress up more in the evenings than non-Europeans. I understand there might be a more refined atmosphere in the Yacht Club, but my budget does not reach to that ( or the Grills). But don’t let that put you off. I enjoy MSC. Enjoy the difference. Entertainment is mainly musical, due to the many languages onboard, and it is very good. EM
  18. If you scroll down the boards page, you will eventually come to a board for Australia and New Zealand cruisers. Nice, entertaining folk there, can probably give you some ideas. EM
  19. Lock it in your empty suitcase under the bed. EM
  20. There are two types of people: those that do their research, and those that expect others to do it for them. CC is full of the latter. No one seems to teach how to research anymore. People here are very helpful in posting links for people asking questions. But I prefer to explain to people how to find those areas where their answers lie. Teaching them HOW to use these boards to research. I also do this because I no longer spend time at my PC, using an iPad upon which I haven’t mastered copy and paste…. EM
  21. This is a new ship on a newly resurrected cruise line. Not sure what type cruises the previous iteration did, but I think I would wait until there was a track record before I put down that kind of money. EM
  22. Discover is seldom recognized in the Med. EM
  23. 246, 248, 304 & 306 are quad cabins per the deck plans. 304 & 306 are connecting cabins. Since you haven’t told us your original cabin numbers, it’s possible some of them were quads also. EM
  24. They will not provide car seats they do not sell diapers or other supplies No in room baby sitting, and last report was the 0-3yr kids programs are not operating. EM
