  1. Our second visit to Venice, we got off the plane, collected our luggage, walked out of the terminal and got on a shuttle bus straight to Piazzale Roma. Cost less than 10 euros each.
  2. Sorry, but those sailboats are in the parallel locks, not the new locks. The new locks are quite different, and you won’t find any little boats there. EM
  3. Sounds like they have what they need, but they would have to check with the destination countries to see if they need visas. EM
  4. I disagree, I say port. You will be doing the old locks, and views of the buildings and control areas will be on port side. But the best location for that day is the wrap around promenade. EM
  5. As for which cruise, let your budget decide. Also pay attention to cost of travel to the departure port. If you can drive to one, and not the other, choose that one. Air travel seems so unreliable these days, especially if you can’t get direct flights. And if flying, always try to fly in a day early. EM
  6. That would not concern me, as I would be expecting an inside cabin, and oars are on,y supplied in outside cabins. EM
  7. If you want a shorter cruise, but relatively quiet, try five days. The fewer weekend days in it, the fewer families there will be. Carnival has 4 and 5 day cruises from Jacksonville, and I always found it amusing that the four day cruises over a weekend were more expensive than the five day cruises that had more weekdays. If you are looking at March, be aware when spring break is as ships will have more kids then. Avoid three day cruises, as they attract the large extended family groups. EM
  8. When that happens to me, I realize that the site has logged me out, albeit not completely. It still shows me logged in. So I do a number of things….I first log out completely, hit refresh, and if that doesn’t work, I go to the site home page and refresh. Then I log in again. It usually works. EM
  9. Try asking the experts here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/564-australia-new-zealand-cruisers/
  10. We had one of those cabins on Seaside, at that time it was just a regular Fantastica balcony. What you need to know is that the tub/shower makes the bath take up more space, so you get a Loveseat instead of a full couch. These cabins with tubs are only for two. This is 14148 on Seaside EM
  11. You. An take excursions from Mahogany Bay to see more of Roatan. Coven hole has much less to recommend it as a port, you would need an excursion for anything but limited shopping. EM
  12. If they told me I couldn’t leave, I would be asking what cabin will I be having for the next cruise? EM
  13. We’re you on a roll call for this cruise? If one existed, it will still be there…maybe a hundred pages back…. Oops, I see you didn’t join CC until a year later. You might check in the reviews section. Seven years ago is a lot to go back, but someone might have done a live from…EM
  14. Or for an adventure, take one of the cruise ferries. EM
  15. Princess had to cancel some cruise tours because they couldn’t hire enough staff to open one of their lodges. The summer hire pool of college students just wasn’t there. Maybe HAL had the same issue. EM
  16. There are threads on every cruise line forum here from people reporting testing positive after they got home, along with people from their roll call, people from their FB groups, etc. Old news. EM
  17. If this is a US port you will have to disembark to zero the ship, but your luggage will not. You coordinate with your cabin steward as to the best way to move your stuff if you are changing cabins. You will get a letter in your cabin a day or two before, explaining the procedure. EM
  18. Having measured them multiple times, they are about 33” wide ( I believe standard is 39x76). I do not believe they were longer than 76. EM
  19. I’m confused as to what you mean about an accident and laundry. Are you worried about changing the bed during the night? Ask the steward for extra sheets…just in case. If it’s clothing, you can send it out to the laundry, or wash in the sink. EM
  20. This has happened to me. After I finalized it, I was able to go back in and add the name of the second person. Initially, it will show the second person as TBA xxxx, where xxxx is your last name. I had booked Early Saver and couldn’t change the whole name. At one time. But I first went in and chose modify for the second person. The second person was my sister, with different last name. So first I added her first name. I had to save that, then go back in a second time to modify the last name, and save. EM
  21. Just for clarity, the ellipsis is the three little square dots in the upper right corner. I learned here that it is called an ellipsis. EM
  22. Also consider where you want to sail from. A re you hoping to drive to the departure port, or will you need to fly? These days the most stressful part of a cruise vacation is the flight(s) to port, especially if there are connections. Going in a day early seems not to be time enough. To make it as stress less as possible, drive. You would not have to worry about cancellations, it also about amount of luggage. From NC, you could sail from Charleston, Baltimore, NY/NJ. Any of the ships sailing from those ports will give you an awesome experience. No, they aren’t the newest or biggest, but your girls won’t miss what they’ve never known. As far as gluten free, all cruise lines are experts in handling that. Just let the special needs dept. know ahead of time and when onboard, speak to the maitre’d onboard. EM
  23. What are people on the Silversea. Board saying? And is there a roll call for your cruise? If so, what are they doing?
  24. Cruise lines don’t arrange rentals, but the special needs dept will tell you who they accept rentals from. EM
