  1. Going thru Security is TSA. When you enter the country you go thru Customs and Immigration.
  2. Lois I feel your pain. I’m sorry you had to endure that. JFK is my home airport. We have Global Entry now, it’s the only way not to spend hours. My daughter even got it for her infant son.
  3. You need to cross 12th Ave at the crosswalk at 48th Street with your luggage for pick ups. Maybe if you tip a porter generously he will help you. If handling the luggage is an issue I’d take the transfer
  4. Download both Uber and Lyft. Then chose the cheapest.
  5. If you go to your account, there is a pull-down where you can type in the screen name of the user you want to ignore. I don’t ignore anyone on this board, but another board I frequent I had to. Lol.
  6. Hi. I used Kayak.com and it looks like Hampton Inn Grand Central has good rates during next April. Nothing glamorous but in a nice safe neighborhood and it includes free breakfast. If you’re able to walk, you can walk to Times Square, Bryant Park, Empire State Bldg from there. Uber to further places and to the pier. Not far from and it won’t be expensive.
  7. As an emergency backup, download the app Spot Hero. It will find you another garage within walking distance.
  8. Hi. I received an email mailing about Riviera River Cruise Line. This is the first I’m hearing about them. According to the mailing it’s popular with pax from England. Anyone have any insight or experience on this brand?
  9. Use the crosswalk on 48 Th Street. Then follow the crowds to where the porter takes your bags.
  10. Buy them directly from the box office. I like to be picky and chose my own seats so I go to the official page of the show, and then there is a link. I bought for Beautiful Noise for May 6. That’s thru Telecharge. If you call the box office they’re not patient. lol I’m not a fan of the Becco theater meal. Try Kellari Tavern for a special 2 course pre theater meal. If you want a very nice lunch Mon - Fri Fresco by Scotto offers a 3 course lunch also.
  11. I’m at the point in my life that I’ll pay extra for convenience for sure. The official tour begins 2:00 Pm “The Last Supper” excursion. That’s kinda tight if you take a later flight.
  12. We decided to fly in a day early for our trip. We’re going to book at same hotel in Milan as the one Uniworld uses to keep it simple. Should we book it direct or go thru Uniworld? What have your experiences been?
  13. There are several choices out there as good, if not better, than Viking. I made my final payment for my July 2023 Uniworld cruise TODAY.
  14. Yes! You dress up as much or little as you feel like. Nobody judges.
  15. On Ama, folks get dressed a little nicer for the tasting menu which is in a gorgeous room. You might find pax who packed simple and wear the same outfit all day. We prefer to take a quick shower after touring and change into fresh clothes. Generally biz casual for dinner. We found this to be the usual for any line we used.
  16. Worth checking into. But just going to warn you that my Mom is 88 and has the Access-A-Ride approval, she lives in Queens. She never uses it because there is often very long wait times, and she doesn’t like to wait. Lol
  17. Have you considered Uber Comfort? Or a mini van for 6 pax but use one row for the folded wheelchair? Also request wheelchair assistance from airlines. The wheelchair helper is supposed to wait with pax until they are in the cab. Of course give a generous tip. My Mom uses this assistance and it’s a godsend.
  18. Does your wife need to stay in her wheelchair in a special van for transportation? Or can she be helped by you into a regular vehicle?
  19. No way I’d attempt this. All NYC airports they suggest arriving 2 hours in advance. If you have checked baggage definitely no.
  20. Well the hotel is in an area that’s being gentrified. The issue is if you’re not used to being in an environment like that you might feel uncomfortable.
  21. Well if the cruiseline goes bankrupt you certainly not getting your cash back. Lol
  22. Back when the banks were giving .20% interest on savings, it might have made sense to pay in full by echeck for the 3.3%. Nowadays it’s not difficult to find a one year or six month CD for 4.0%. There is more consumer protection when using CC over cash. Also, as mentioned cash back or Airline Points.
  23. I have never stayed there. You can walk to the original Jrs Cheesecake Restaurant, so in my book it’s good. lol. Just know it’s in an urban environment.
