  1. I have never stayed there. You can walk to the original Jrs Cheesecake Restaurant, so in my book it’s good. lol. Just know it’s in an urban environment.
  2. So sorry to hear this Sheila. It is sad that in this day and age, NCL the parent company, as well as Regent does not provide accommodations for those with disabilities.
  3. Yep. It is because the tickets were purchased bulk rate by NCL.
  4. Hi I live in NYC area. We are always generous to service staff. They work hard. That said, 20% is fine. You can add the tip onto the tip line. Make sure you keep your receipt.
  5. Of the three I’ve used Ama, Uniworld, and Avalon, Ama had the most selections for active adventures. Uniworld did have choices in Portugal which was active also. I think one needs to really look closely at the offered excursions for each itinerary.
  6. $45 per 24 hours sill considered cheap under NYC standards for those having sticker shock.
  7. When you check in, you’ll put in your FF#. But nothing says Viking is going to put you on United.
  8. Which is your favorite ocean cruiseline? Do you like luxury, middle of the road, or value lines? Another thing to keep in mind is how each company handles things to the consumer satisfaction when things go bad. Such as high water, low water, or recent pandemic. @Host Jazz has a bunch of stickies explaining all of this. You need to define your dealbreakers. Don’t take advice from others who might have different standards.
  9. I’d look at the included excursions. Does Tauck offer exclusive excursions that Uniworld doesn’t? Specifically in Paris.
  10. It’s been remodeled recently. Very good reviews on TripAdvisor. We enjoyed our stay there.
  11. Lois check out the Hotel Vernueil St Germain. It is a small boutique hotel located in a former mansion.
  12. Which way are you going? We take Belt Parkway through Brooklyn to Staten Island to Bayonne Bridge. Definitely no rest stops. But there is a Target and a Kohls right before Verrazano Bridge on Belt Pkway. They usually have decent bathrooms.
  13. I always wondered how Uniworld, of all brands, decided to go with this idea. It’s actually the antithesis of what the regular Uniworld brand is. That said, I think the concept was very good. The marketing only to millennials only I think was a misstep. This brand should be marketed to anyone who wants to go out and have dinner in town each night. Like a no frills floating hotel.
  14. If you want to get to the top of the Eiffel Tower or see the Mona Lisa at the Louvre book a beat the line tour. I always have good luck thru Viator.com
  15. Have another person in the car have on WAZE as a backup. WAZE will get you there. lol
  16. Look at Avalon that is in the same price range as Viking. We had a fun loving bunch of fellow cruisers when we went.
  17. If you are checking bags, no way is one hour going to cut it.
  18. True. But the OP needs a rollator or scooter to get around. To say “don’t bother” is not helpful. One can enjoy the beauty of Central Park with a carriage ride.
  19. That’s not true. You can get a decent tour by pedicab. They point out famous points. It’s a good option for those who can’t walk long distances.
  20. Tauck has excellent One suggestion is to look at the excursions. Tauck does offer some exclusive excursions not offered on other cruiselines. Certain cruiseline’s offer butlers. I would imagine having a butler would be considered luxury. Also the square footage of the cabins and Year built. Wine is included on all lines, but wine quality varies so that is something to research also.
  21. Lois , you have some great cruises ahead. I’ve never tried a TA but some relatives have done more than one and they love them. Can’t wait to read about your experiences for both cruises.
  22. Google Hansom cabs nyc. You will find information and you can contact the companies directly. They might allow you to take your rollator onboard. Another option is a pedicab tour. With either make sure you ask the cost of the tour beforehand so there is no misunderstanding.
  23. As a local I don’t like the Marquis. Why? Because they allow anyone off the street to come in. That’s where I go to waste time before a show. Lol
