  1. Some cruiseline’s have figured out how to do ship swapping. Are you ok with that? It’s not perfect but it’s better than a bus trip for sure. There are also cancel for any reason insurance policies. Mother Nature makes her own rules. There are weather pattern histories, but no promises.
  2. There is good signage that is in English. Just follow the signs. You need to go through immigration. Viking will give you specific instructions where to meet them. But they’ll be standing there with a sign that says Viking.
  3. If your wife is going to spend a lot of time in the cabin it might be worth it. But what really could she see? Also remember if the ship is docked tied together to another ship (drafting) your wife could only see the inside of another ship. lol.
  4. I’ve been on Ama, Uniworld, and Avalon. If I had a physical disability I’d choose Amawaterways. I’ve seen them go above and beyond for those with physical limitations. But all three take excellent care of their guests. Uniworld includes everything in the base price including mixed drinks and gratuities. Avalon I feel gives you the best value for your money. The tours were all excellent quality.
  5. No problem whatsoever. Bring your own corkscrew.
  6. Agree. Plus remember that Uber and Lyft uses dynamic pricing so dependent on the variables it could be even higher.
  7. I see there are two Conrad’s. One Midtown, one Downtown. What are you planning to do while in NYC. If you are planning to visit World Trade Center and Statue of Liberty, choose the downtown location.
  8. I would get off the ship as soon as I could. I rather waste time at the airport than worry about missing the flight. My issue is 8 pax. Are you going to hire a van, or will you take taxis? Make sure you arrange it in advance.
  9. Hi all. My last cruise was 2019. Ready to book for 2023! I need some recommendations regarding purchasing insurance in regards to COVID19. I want the policy to cover us if we test positive and unable to cruise. Also cover us if we get sick during the cruise. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
  10. Brooklyn isn’t that far from Manhattan. Back in the day it even shared the 212 area code. Most ports World Wide are not in the heart of any city. Including the London port. For any visitors, don’t worry, Brooklyn is fine!
  11. You don’t need 2 days in Montmartre. We took a 1/2 tour that was enough. Stay in a lovely neighborhood in Paris. Is your Uniworld Tour going to Versailles? I would take the train from Paris and go to Versailles for the day.
  12. Duoro starts in Libson if you take the precruise extension, and ends in Porto, or visa versa. In Libson and Porto the bus rides are not long. The ship docks where you can walk over the bridge to Porto. Of course you can opt for optional trips to Sintra and Cascais from Libson, but it is not mandatory. The bus ride from Libson to Porto maybe two hours but you stop for lunch and visit the University v The one long bus ride on Uniworld was to Salamanca, Spain. It was worth it. The other excursions involve going to wineries from the ship. Some are up in the mountains.
  13. There is a tour bus that takes you all around the Island right at the ferry terminal. I believe you purchase the tickets from the ferry. The bus is the school bus type. I’m sure Celebrity will have that set up. Marthas Vineyard is large.
  14. If you haven’t been to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, it’s must. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend it if you have mobility issues.
  15. Why not call Uber or Lyft. Download the app and set it up before you leave home. Easy peasy. Past cruisers in Brooklyn have used www.carmellimo.com or www.dial7.com to prebook a pick up. Do not under any circumstances use a Gypsy cab you have not prebooked. Yellow medallion taxis are fine.
  16. The ship travels during the night. You should have plenty of time at each stop.
  17. It depends on the itinerary. Which itinerary are you considering?
  18. That’s a very busy weekend in NYC. Must be having tradeshows that weekend. The best I could come up with is the NY Hilton Midtown which you can book directly and is cancelable. It is $340 plus $30 fees so $370. That location is very close to the piers.
  19. I’ve been here on CC for 25 years and very rarely have luggage been reported lost at the NYC pier. Misdirected luggage by the airlines is a different story.
  20. The people picking up your luggage at the pier are handled by longshoremen not porters. I always give a gratuity. This way your luggage won’t get “lost”
  21. What is the day What is the date you need? We can try to find you a place.
  22. Very easy to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge from there. Very safe stroll.
  23. Taxi is fine. Download and set up the Uber and/or Lyft app before you leave home. Very convenient and you can use to get to the port also.
  24. It’s just plain rude saying there are no decent pizza places in NYC plus not helpful. New Yorkers live on pizza and 99% of them have never set foot in New Haven, CT.
