I understand all that. There is a town on the South Devon coast where the council make life difficult for holiday lets. It turns out that a good number of holiday let's are owned by locals and their ' businesses ' provide employment. Many of the people complaining are themselves ' incomers '. No easy solution, but if I think I will not be welcome, my solution for me is simple. Go somewhere else.

I like mushrooms and limoncello, but a limoncello and mushroom panacotta doesn't appeal.

I appreciate all that and in my defence ,have never used air BandB and normally stay in hotels or caravans/lodges. Many sc properties are owned by locals and provide employment for ' locals '. Many holiday resorts are empty off season and the locals are on the dole. There is a balance. Tourism can be good for local folk.

We went to Scotland some years ago. It was very nice. Folk in charge of things should remember that tourists have choices. If somewhere makes me feel unwelcome, I will go somewhere else.

We take a couple of bottles when we board and some cokes. If we are getting short we get a bit more at the next port. Sometimes they have an honesty table, sometimes they don't. When they do, there is normally not much on it. I wouldn't bother too much.

Round ones roll under the cooker when they fall off the plate. With irregular shapes,they can be replated, thus saving wastage.
