Can you explain that Chili? I know if you change your mind about a RCCL booked cruise you generally lose your deposit. Princess has not started that practice yet.

There is nothing there. Was there on a Sunday and the shops were even closed according to a fellow cruiser we bumped into on the way. May-be some excursions! $20 on the bus to get to Cairns - don't know if that was return.

My PVP rang as I was reading the email on Friday. She organised to cancel me but the journey is still showing on my phone - I guess they haven't had time to keep up but its abit rich not at least cancelling the cruise from their website. She was trying to sell me another Princess cruise but the prices shot up by thousands in some cases, so they had time to do that. I only agreed to a purchase at the old price but bosses said no. The prices have since come down, but not quite the price a month ago. So Princess lost out with me, but RCCL had a real sale last Friday so I booked a transpacific.

It wasn't all bad news to go with the September alternative. It is $400 cheaper than what I paid for the October one, but OK one day less. I was offered $100 each (which was upped to $150 each by the PVP) to book the alternative. I didn't take the offer, but I am still in shopping mode. I have a p&o cruise coming up. Depending whether we like p&o, the Mutiny on the Bounty cruise is looking OK.

Was it CTC Shota Rustavelli - my 2nd cruise to Singapore and back in the early 19seventies. A 6-berth cabin with a window - 4 were strangers. Bathroom yes down the hallway. My first cruise was on Fairstar.

I think that was Robert Doyle who suggested a man made island in the Bay. I agree, it did not sound like a good idea.

Wouldn't be surprised about that. Ovation was going Singapore (pre-covid) to Tokyo and a second journey, Tokyo to Alaska. The ship was heavily booked about a year out and those from the US booking the 1st segment, booked the second. The itinerary was changed slightly after covid started and I was able to get a full refund of my deposit. The journey kept selling like hotcakes (at an increased price) during covid until it was apparent it wasn't going to happen.

I never tire of this view or the 360-degree view, of the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and ship at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, as I never tire of Venice. Thanks for the view - will see again soon.

Shame about cruises starting (or not) from Melbourne, getting sick to death of flights to Sydney and we live close to the port in Melbourne and a long way from Melbourne airport. Pacific Explorer is getting old but has some great cruises to the west. I am afraid Princess and RCCL spoil us, making it harder to go on a cruise and expecting less.

Oh wow - no I have never seen that but that does not mean I won't. However, I did notice cabin stewards hanging about passengers who were leaving the cruise earlier.

Agree bigger isn't always better, with Majestic in mind. I was on Emerald in 2019 and didn't realise that Emerald had an extra deck (compared to say the old Golden Princess) even though I was on Emerald for a month. Possibly because the extra deck just had cabins, yet I didn't notice the ship was more crowded.

Try the junk or spam mail but the survey is only available for 2 weeks after it is sent. I did mine yesterday for Majestic and remembered that it would be there. I don't think staff were nicer on the last few days, they were nice all the time. I had very little to complain about but probably prefer the smaller ships.

I am on Pacific Adventure soon. So who works out who get priority boarding (not concerned if I don't get it but would just like to know how it is worked out). I have a cabin number but it seems one cannot pick a boarding time until a month before when one is required to enter stuff about vaccination on Verify. Is that correct?

That is my impression. My husband won't consider going with them. It's funny how people have differing views but we have similar views yarramar.

That is a shame, it is nice on Princess how you can share tables and it is mostly with different people.

Thanks for the info, very much appreciated. I will go and book early as you indicated. I am not too fussy about same staff but we do like the 'Princess' way, for instance sharing a table with other diners - can one request that? Thanks for the advice, it's great knowing what to do in advance.

Done all my checking in for P&O June cruise except for dining. So: Check your (free) dining assignments - so time and where - is this done by P&O or us (haven't worked out where). If done by P&O - I guess I need to check and change, may-be. Where (if done or changed by us) do we go on board to book in, or change and I note you said do it straight away when boarding. Of course, I do intend to go to the three free ones. And thanks for the tips.

I have been on 2 NCL cruises in the past. I cannot complain about food or anything on the ships. However, I don't think NCL are upfront and we are cautious about going with them again. They recently had a special of 2nd person is free but when you totalled everything up, it was the total for two people cruising and the 'online' connection confirmed the price. To those who did get free drinks etc., I was under the impression that you still had to pay gratuities on the 'free' drinks package even though a cruise is purchased in Australia. We just prefer 'no smoke and mirrors' just honesty or forget it.

I never thought of it that way, but I have a lovely garden full of flowers at the moment. I never cut the flowers and take them inside. I have always thought they just look beautiful naturally, where they are in abundance. I think your mother was right.

Would love to see more ships leaving Melbourne but weather conditions makes Sydney a good alternative. New Brisbane cruise terminal not well organised yet to get cruisers onto shuttles and away from the new terminal. Don't really want to fly to Brisbane. Hoping Voyager and Radiance class ships return to Australia. I prefer Princess and RCCL cruise lines.

My payment was all sorted out by 5ish and I received a new invoice showing the payment and balance owing. All good.

I booked a cruise with RCCL today (I normally do it myself online but I had a query about not receiving a previous invoice). They were expecting the payment to go out in a few days. The invoice did not show the deposit being paid but that will be updated when the payment does go out from the credit card.

Going P&O in June on Adventure and I haven't kept up with what is happening at the Brisbane Cruise Terminal. Would anyone know if they have a shuttle bus to the city yet on a day we have a stop there. Sorry if I haven't been paying attention.
