  1. I don't think that price is that bad, remember it is solo. A Northern Explorer on Majestic (a fairly popular cruise) for 15 days is not half that price each in a balcony. However, I want to go after 3 years of nothing and so I am paying it. Don't forget everything is so booked out. Even if you go on Coral for 10 days doing West Australia (Perth to Perth) is $3000 for 10 days each in a balcony. As you would say, go young Les.
  2. So glad you received some good news regardless of the little bad news. Your pets look like good companions.
  3. Wow that's early but a good time to allow for any mishaps at the airport which of course did happen today. Hope it did not affect you both.
  4. Yup remember when the buffet was still open after the last show (9 - 9.30 pm) and yes cruise on Coral a week ago, buffet was closed. So we decided to go early to dinner (about 5.30 pm) which allowed us to go to the first show at 7.30 and gave us time to go up to the buffet for a cup of tea. I could have had room service but I was quite happy to go to the buffet. However, I do like the dining where you turn up at around your time and you generally sit with different people every night - loved that. So some things are good and some, not so.
  5. @OzKiwiJJDidn't of course make it to the Sydney get together as we were discovering Sydney again - sorry about that. Was so good spending the extra day in Sydney. It is sunny now but cold in Melbourne. Missing being on the ship so we are going down to have a look and have a coffee in the area. Enjoy the rest of your travelling. Rosie
  6. All I have is a modification to our Majestic Cruise (around Australia) which we are on Sydney to Perth next March 2023. Not now stopping in Geraldton, no reason given but would anyone know why? Stops in Busselton south of Perth and then next stop, head back north to Perth and arrive 1 hour later than previously scheduled. Of course stopping in Fremantle.
  7. There is something on FB today saying : The McGowan Government is ready to welcome the return of large cruise vessels to Western Australia, following confirmation the Coral Princess will visit Fremantle as part of an Australian circumnavigation in October. The luxury liner will be the first large cruise vessel to visit WA in two and a half years. Don't know how official this but glad to see it and I guess so is their tourist industry.
  8. Yep snatch it @icat2000 cause for me, the Christmas Cruise is same as Sinbad (interior Princess standard, per person cost), and the New Zealand cruise in March again is same as Sinbad (interior Princess Standard, per person cost) and I live in Melbourne. May-be your country regional address? May-be because you are not booked for anything, they are trying to reel you in? Good luck.
  9. About 2018, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Southampton for one night. It was reasonably priced then and comfortable with a decent breakfast. We were able to walk to the Cruise Port in the morning. I am fairly sure we also walked to the shops for food and coffee the previous evening. Best of all, saw the ships come in at about 6 am, my normal waking time and too excited to sleep anyway.
  10. Yes that price looks good @Chiliburn to Florida. We are going to Japan in 2024. A flight back on Jetstar is only $300AUD more for premium economy. It's fun shopping, more fun going.
  11. Yup, flight attendant's are sick etc. etc. Icon sounds wonderful. Eileen was very lucky to have nothing go wrong. You are probably aware that Purple Traveller got to Spain and had to forego her cruise and spend the time in Spain - real shame. I am just not ready to go through all that this year at least. Hope all goes well with your trip to the US. If Premium Economy is not grossly overpriced, we are thinking of doing that.
  12. Sounds like Eileen was on Jewel of the Seas around the UK. We have been watching it as it is on our to do list with the Icelandic cruise straight after. Waiting for the world to settle a little more before we venture overseas but glad it worked out for her.
  13. Preferably later rather than sooner. Just mask up and go on cruises. Who cares which ship as long as it has lots of bells and whistles.
  14. Victorians go to the polls at the end of the year, and Chairman Andrews wants everyone to love him. So beware Victorians being again locked down next year!!!!!!
  15. I remember that well when Star was at Station Pier after it had been towed there. I was leaving on a cruise on Radiance and the CD made a joke about we were going and Star was not - of course he would when it was a different cruise line. When googled it appears it was a propulsion problem.
  16. A huge thank you to @Cbtoursfor your info and everyone else about info on the wonky 'Medallion'. My use of it has been relatively easy thanks to all the information from those who have used it as well as all the insurance questions and answers. Our cruise is still a way off but we are really looking forward to starting cruising again.
  17. Sorry about your cat but it seems he had a nice goodbye. They really become part of your life.
  18. I have never had decent coffee on a cruise ship and they also use long life milk which is yuk. So it's just tea for me from the buffet and I often took them down to the cabin. Even RCCL buffet coffee or Starbucks coffee (on board) is yuk BUT coffee we can make for ourselves in the Diamond Lounge is very, very nice and I always had a few of them a day. You shouldn't judge P&O two new ships to the Explorer. The Encounter and Adventure are newer and much bigger ships with more bells and whistles. Hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise.
  19. We did it also in 2007 on Norwegian Wind (now long gone) about a 10 day cruise. We had a medivac so did not make it to Kiribati. Captain added a sail past the lava flow early evening which was very impressive. The cruise started our love of doing trips to Hawaii.
  20. The stay overnight is a good option. I can only tell you about my experience and ours is just a 1 hr flight home and usually around midday. We walk off with our bags with the first group at 7 am. There are people at the terminal with signs for rides to the airport in vans. It cost $15 pre pandemic but it may be $20 pp now. It took 15 minutes to fill the van with people from the cruise and we were at the airport in less than an hour. We just find this all too easy and better than walking up to the train station etc. which is doable. I am always prepared for the what if and in that case, I catch a cab.
