  1. Interesting. I had good smoked salmon several times in La Veranda just the week before last. Hoping for good weather in the south!
  2. Thank you so much, Rachel. It was wonderful, and Splendor is indeed a lovely ship. So I presume you disembarked at Terminal J? We were shunted to B, which meant a *very* long walk from the ship to Immigration and exit, and then had to wait for a shuttle to the parking lot. If we had known what a long walk it was, we would have both got wheelchairs!
  3. I don't think the laundry room will be a problem. The way the suites are laid out, you're away from the doors when you're in the main area. And the doors are very soundproof. Perhaps you can book that room and waitlist a suite more centrally located?
  4. It's for our safety. Lots won't really pay attention during the video, and that means greater chaos during a real emergency. Small price to pay.
  5. I'm so sorry. Having just been on a Regent cruise, on Splendor, I would say either would be great, but the vibe on the PG is definitely warm and casual. That being said, Azamara is also quite friendly and relaxed.
  6. Yes they do. We just returned from Splendor, and we got ours about a month before sailing. In the U.S., which may make a difference. Do you have a TA to check with?
  7. I should have said that this was 1022, port side. Only a few little complaints about the cabin. I think the bed was a bit too high, at least for us. We are both not so spry any more, and had to almost jump up onto the bed. The Ily coffee maker was fine, once you figured out how to use it, and that was not easy. The balcony was huge, for our standards, room enough for two large chairs, a small table and a chaise. Nice and deep. The makeup mirror is just plain silly. It's lighted, which is fine, but the magnified side is way too magnified. You had to hold your face about three inches away to see anything, which was every pore and hair on your face. Really, 10x would have been more than enough, this one must have been 20x. There were so many drawers in this cabin, it would be great for a world cruise! The shower was nice and big, and easy to figure out, and had a ceiling rainshower option. The tub was gigantic for those who like a good soak. The lighting system is, uh, extensive. Not easy to figure out, shall we say, but does the job. The nightlight switches are great.
  8. Interesting about the change in demographics. The Jan/21st Splendor cruise was probably the oldest group we've cruised with. Of course, we've been aging along with everyone else; we first cruised in 2000, 23 years ago, yikes! The older demographic meant that my creaky joints getting up and down from dining, and my slow limp along the corridors was not even worthy of a glance; I blended in perfectly!
  9. Here is my review of our Concierge D stateroom on Splendor, January 21st, 2023. As it says, there was some noise from the pool deck above. I calculated that we were right above the Creamery (the ice cream station), and the noise was usually in the evenings when they were cleaning/rearranging the furniture. Great cabin class. Binoculars are useless, btw. Splendor-Concierge-CC-Rating..xls
  10. Sitting in La Veranda awaiting disembarkation from this terrific cruise. We both love Splendor. Can't say enough about the concierge-level cabin (same as Superior).
  11. And May is a good month for Alaska. Wish they had more of these Van-Van itineraries.
  12. Just realized we're docking at terminal B in Miami, not terminal J. We're parked in the latter. Hope there is some way to get there 'cause were not walking!
  13. A beautiful sea day, heading north. Wish this cruise wouldn't end, although I'm over the food indulgences, mostly. Some have commented adversely on the food, but I've been quite pleased. The cioppini (sp?) in Sette Mari last night was terrific.
  14. The levels were a little loud for the Crossroads show, but the levels in the lounges have been very acceptable.
  15. The Superior Suite, midship would be my sweet spot, although we're in Concierge right now. Lovely cabin, great layout. Large shower enclosure and a huge tub.
  16. Nice meal in CR last night, shared with a couple from London. So far we've enjoyed all the passengers we've met on board. Spent time with the CD, David Neven, and he's a very nice man, and doing a good job. Saw the 'spicy' show, Crossroads, which we thought was very well done. Bought my spices in Grenada today. We've been here before, so no tour. A physically beautiful island, kind of gritty, with lovely people. I like it.
  17. I've never done concierge on the older ships, and no, I do not think it's worth it unless perhaps you're new to Regent. The concierge suite on Splendor is physically the same as the Superior Suite. Higher up, which can be nice, coffee maker, binoculars, and of course the hotel night. Not worth it for us, but it is pleasant to have coffee in the morning on demand. The layout of the cabin is wonderful, btw. Great to be back on RSSC and Splendor is awesome.
  18. No jackets required, but a word of warning. Restaurants and lounges can be quite chilly. My husband hates suits of any kind, yet happily wears his blue blazer in the evenings (were onboard Splendor right now.)
  19. So glad to hear you're enjoying yourself. We are loving Splendor too, our 13th and perhaps last Regent cruise. I've heard others who seem to want to be very critical but we are blown away.
  20. Went to a ladies' wellness event today put on by the spa. It was a mini-facial. It was quite fun and very relaxing. Surprisingly not a huge sales pitch, although the products were there to buy.
