Deployment 2025-26 booking season begins
ONECRUISER replied to SummmerInKefalonia's topic in Royal Caribbean International
About one half Royals sailings are missing at moment. Usually just an IT issue -
At least 3rd time I can remember Royal stop their Ships here in last 35yrs. 100 yrs of issues in Haiti, even 30 yrs had my US Army Buddys fly into here. Have Hope also, Labadee was my very first Cruise Port stop back in the 80's, but then there is reality

How bad is Cococay with 11000 people?
ONECRUISER replied to Neosophy's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yup, I'm one, The last time I got off in Nassau the Straw Market was burning down, 23yrs ago and few days before 9/11. On Coco Cay, 22 yrs ago though do like people watch from my Aft Cabin, all the Sunburned masses returning. Last Sept was so Hot, Humid and no breeze many were heading back onboard before Noon. The last 2hrs before Ships leave Trams are packed! For some looks like be faster walk back the wait for ride -
Though was Land Travel at a Caribbean Resort friend of mine was flying home on 9/12/2001. 9/11 Happened, Airlines shutdown and he was stuck there for extra 12days before able get back. The Resort didnt charge him a penny for anything inc the Rooms for those extra Days. I got Lucky, off a Cruise taking a Redeye landing at 630am and getting home @8am on 9/11. Was me and my 3 Kids, 4, 6 & 10yrs old. After getting off the Ship and having a long day at Airport we almost stayed at Hotel and take Flight the next day.. Glad didn't as we would have been stuck in Florida

Agree, almost never overhaul a Ship. Replace Carpet, Chairs ect, Paint Ship, stain all Balcony Railings, this is done year round. Getting Ready for Serenade's World Cruise was done over period 3 months while she was in service and passengers onboard. They replaced all the room Cooler(fridge), ran all new wiring for upgraded Internet, added more plugs and USB Ports in Cabins, ect. Radiance now should be a usual Marine Side Maintenance Dry Dock and not much more... I'll be on her myself doing B3B Mar28-April23

Spent month on Radiance in Sept/Oct inc Panama Canal last Fall, no issues. Besides the B3B with you this Fall also doing B3B March-April doing her West Bound Panama Canal. Some things on Older Ship are not going be replaced, rare as you know. Though if I see anything good will be sure to share!

Requesting a table for future cruise
ONECRUISER replied to Harrisonkid's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes, happened to me once, 2:30pm was at one Table, number Table changed by 530pm was not a Happy Camper. .. I'm always one first walk in Main Dining at meal time. Once I watch a couple come in, not like their Table and quickly moved the Table Number Blocks from a 2 Top away from the Window to a 4 Top up against the Window. Then they threw a Fit when Head Waiter moved them back to Original Table -
Agree, exactly what happen to mine this week. Reprint/Deck/Muster Station. Did this for couple weeks then at 30days(this wk) Cabin Assigned is on same Deck

Should RCCL have more accessible cabins?
ONECRUISER replied to thefog's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yeah unfortunately people like me book up to 500+ days out, lot more Passengers needing these Handicapped Cabins then the few available especially on the older/smaller Ships. Though have noticed as Sailing Date gets close some people Cancel and at times a few will open back up. 20yrs ago was common for Royal to assign Guarantee Bookings these Cabins as wasnt as many needing these, but as population gets older and more using scooters. Back couple decades ago many people just wouldn't Cruise. I remember when I started most my Caribbean Stops were Tender Ports where using a scooter wouldnt been possible -
Yeah at least couple the Radiance Class Ships Air Vent is in Ceiling middle of the Cabin, Other 1 or 2 the Vent is on outside of Bathroom wall and blows across room to the Bed and where Cabin has divider Curtain I open it about 2ft so cold air isnt blowing in my face

At least 4 different times over last 35yrs seen Royal ships change stops here, when does happen not usually not for long. Most time when you'd think would happen due to unrest, Ships still stopped here

I will be checking under Sink and bed now

Was there day Edge got to Port Everglades for first time. Only second time I'd seen Tugs Blasting water hoses for it's Welcome as Edge spun around while I was on a Royal Ship doing a B2B on turn around day... Watch but for my Cruises Celeb at times comes close(smaller Ships) but Royal SOLO 340+ is usually better. Now with no longer Repo or Carib Sailings offered on Radiance Class not much to compare. Wont do Larger Ships on either Line but with new Rates on Royal can only imagine Celeb offering lower $$$ and Royals Higher $$$ it would have them beat... -

ONECRUISER replied to SummmerInKefalonia's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Royal has been trying to sell themselves as Environmental going back to mid-90's when they first stopped Hitting Golf Balls and Skeet Shooting off open Decks. Then after they got caught dumping Photo Chemicals into Ocean using False Piping they started Save the Waves...to then repeat the Dumping receiving a second Record multi million Fine. Ports demanding reduced Emissions benefit to Royal is less Fuel use/costs, Recycle, Plugs to Shore, alt Fuels, nothing new -

ONECRUISER replied to SummmerInKefalonia's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Been lucky find some the cheaper Cruises in multiples with good SOLO 340+ and at times Military Discounts. Without the Discounts I wouldn't be taking these Cruises. Retired Military, Single, Kids Grown, Car is paid for. Stay in an In law Suite at my Daughter/SIL/Grand Daughter home, so no real expenses...except Cruises -
Not on my Sailings. Average 10-25 Kids on my Radiance Class doing longer sailings

Been carrying Pop onboard Royal Ships for 30+ yrs. same with Airlines. Last time took my Family out to eat there was 13 of us and the Restaurant had mandatory Tip of 15% for Large Groups, had pay min of $70. Lot of Restaurants do that for 10 or 12, etc. We might have small snack at Parks but we'd spend week at Disney/Universal Studios and never eat meals at their Rest.

New 3rd dining time for traditional dining
ONECRUISER replied to cruiseboy89130's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I remember when 1st Show was 8:45pm and 2nd at 1100pm as both after Dinner. Second we'd get out show just in time for the Midnite Buffet. Last 5yrs about 1/3 my long 10-16nite Radiance Class Cruises multiple shows inc 1st and last were combined between 1st & 2nd Dining's along with at least 2 nites no shows.
