  1. Steve works with about 9 companies that he feels comfortable working with. He does work with GeoBlue, however, Washington State doesn't allow them to sell in Washington for some reason. I usually go with TravelSafe Classic for my travel needs. Yes, I've had claims. Yes, they were successful. Yes, Steve will help if needed with the claim. Actually he has assisted some people on here who didn't purchase thru him but the people they did buy from refused to help.
  2. GeoBlue does have a network of medical facilities worldwide that will direct pay. The downside to that is if you are in an emergent situation will you or someone with you know which facility does or does not have a direct pay agreement with GeoBlue? There are policies out there that will wire a payment if the amount is too large for your credit limit for you to pay directly. What is that limit and what are the terms in which they loan the money to you? I don't know. Thats one of the reasons why I use a broker such as Steve at TripInsuranceStore.com
  3. When I was working prior to retirement, I had BC/BS which included an International rider for coverage outside the US. When I called HR for more information, they were useless. I ended up calling BC/BS on my own and asked very specific questions. 1. Do you cover health emergencies outside the US? Yes (at Out of Network rates) 2. Do you pay directly? No (I must pay and then file for reimbursement) 3. If I don't have access to that amount of credit or cash, will BC/BS offer a letter of ability to pay or offer to wire a payment? No 4. After I've been stabilized, will BC/BS evac me back home? No 5. If I happen to die, will BC/BS pay to repatriate my remains? No After my discussion with HR and BC/BS, I determined that it would be in my best interest to supplement my travels with a medical policy that fits my needs.
  4. Interesting. I've had a couple of small (but Jackpot none the less) and was hand paid each time. At the end of the cruise, I received my 1099G. No taxes were withheld by the cruise line. It was my responsibility to claim as "Earned Income" on my 1040. (Of course, I was able to write off the losses and wipe out any owed tax) This was on Carnival and Royal in the Caribbean for myself. My wife experienced the same on a Royal cruise in the Med.
  5. Rotterdam Cruise Terminal to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) (rome2rio.com)
  6. Canadian citizens are exempt from paying casino winnings that are taxable in the US. "Jackpot" winnings on a slot machine over $1199 USD will be reported to the IRS. When this happens, the machine stops working, the slot attendants verify the win, they pay in cash after verifying your identity (age, citizenship, etc), then reset the machine and off they go. The casino doesn't keep the taxes. The person responsible (winner) will receive a form 1099G from the casino. Then it is up to the individual to claim this as "Earned Income" when they complete their individual tax return. I don't join slot pulls for various reasons, but this would be a reason to have a Canadian running the slot pull and using his/her/they/them/their card.
  7. Try calling using WhatsApp. It’s a different protocol than regular wifi calling.
  8. Not the policy I purchase since I live in Washington. Already verified and I purchase thru Steve.
  9. That might be an issue then. Many plans require you to cover the entire cost of the trip (non-refundable costs) to waive any pre-existing medical conditions. Along with many (not all) require that you purchase the insurance within X (14 to 21) number of days of initial trip deposit.
  10. I'd call Steve at the Tripinsurancestore I just put the trip cost at $500 since I can absorb the cost of missing the cruise. I still get the $100K primary medical. I put the trip cost at $500 because the insurance cost is the same whether you put $1 or $500. It increases at $501. At the $500 level, I still receive the 150% of trip cost in case I miss my flight home or something (trip delay or Trip interruption). I can catch a hotel and meals.
  11. Carnival doesn't do wine pairing. Just offer white or red. Royal does actual wine pairing.
  12. OP doesn’t say the name change was due to marriage. Maybe they entered the witness protection program 😳
  13. Depends on many factors to include the Terms and Conditions of the policy itself, and what the laws of your State allow an insurance provider to do or not do.
  14. Oh how I love drama. I'm not sure how anyone is supposed to answer the question. Or, am I misunderstanding the thread and actually you're not looking for an answer but just wanting someone to feel the pain of the situation. In my younger years, my financial situation determined how long and where my vacations would take me. Is it going to be a weekend at grandma's house? Or can we afford to go to the rive and camp for the weekend? As the financial situation improved, the longer and further we could go. Myself? 2 weeks on a cruise is about all I can handle and to be honest, 2 weeks access to a casino is too much for the pocketbook. 2 weeks on a cruise and 2 weeks wondering around new places in Europe is about my max. (Personally and financially). I have friends who live in Cabo 5 months out of the year and Naples 4 months out of the year. I couldn't do it myself.
  15. I see you brought up the same argument on a post submitted on 8 November 2021. As with most things in life, you roll the dice and take your chances. I'm choosing to roll my dice with the professional advice provided by Steve at TripInsuranceStore. But thank you for your concern.
  16. I count on the expertise of Steve at TripInsurance.com I purchase the TravelSafe policy specifically designed for residents of Washington from Steve.
  17. Depends on the regulations in your State. In Washington State, what you describe is not a requirement. Then again, I can't purchase GeoBlue as a Washington State resident.
  18. If I find that I don't want or need and annual, I just put a trip cost of $500. That trip cost gives me all the medical, evacuation, and repatriation that I need while minimizing the cost for what I don't need which is cancellation, trip delay, trip interruption, etc. Insurance is cost is based on Trip Cost. $0 - $500 is $X, while $501 - $1000 increases the cost and so on and so on. $100K medical (primary) with $250K evac costs me about $35 per person.
  19. The booking is in place. You will be flying that day. No guarantee on the seats though. Your party could be split up in different rows with everyone in a middle seat. Air2Sea is just a consolidator. The terms and conditions (and restrictions) were negotiated a couple of years ago. Air2Sea agreed to sell X number of tickets for a set cost to them. In return, the airline sets the restrictions (such as in your case no seat assignments until fully ticketed). The tickets you purchased from Air2Sea are NOT the same tickets you would have purchased directly from the airline. Savings can be had, but there is a cost associated with those savings.
  20. If everyone posted the "secrets", they would no longer be secret, would they?
  21. I saw your question when you first wrote it. There are so many questions to ask before I could even begin to try to help so I left it alone hoping someone else might try to help. Questions Are you paying for everyone going on the cruise? Are you just paying for the cruise? And it's their responsibility to pay anything above and beyond the cruise only expenses? How many cabins? What are YOU trying to insure against? Just the potential loss of your out of pocket expense of the cruise fare? Who's responsible to pay for THEIR cost of insurance outside the cost of the cruise fare such as medical, evacuation, trip delay, trip interruption, etc? Does everybody live in the same geographical area? Or do you live in different States? Is everyone traveling together? Are some travelers leaving home on different dates and returning on different dates? You've got a tough one to figure out here. I would recommend you give Steve a call at Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com) 888-407-3854
  22. A little cheaper? Probably, But that in and of itself has a price that you may or may not see. Cruise lines will offer to sell you air travel tickets from which they earn a commission. However, the price for those tickets and the terms and conditions for travel were made a year or 2 ago. The tickets you receive are NOT the exact same tickets that you would purchase directly from the airline. They may appear to be the same. In fact, 99% of the time, you may never know there was a difference. That is until you run into operational problems such as redirecting, rescheduling, flight cancellations, etc. I used Fly2Fun one time. I saved about $200 per ticket. My 5 hour travel day turned into a 14 hour travel day with 2 layovers. The return flights, the airline changed aircraft type, therefore all seats were reassigned. None of us were together. Since we were NOT the airlines customer, Carnival bought the tickets/Carnival was their customer, we were last on the priority list to get seat assignments. The Fly2Fun marketing brochure makes you "think" you are guaranteed to get to the ship on time> The legal language in the Terms and Conditions state that there is no guarantee, only that they will do their best unless <insert restrictions>
  23. Are you asking why so you can better understand their operational reasons? Or are you asking why to have a discussion as to why their operational reasons are wrong in your opinion?
  24. Of course they'll let you all check in together. Everyone hang out until the last 2 are scheduled to check in, then the merry group can all check in together. Everybody's happy
  25. I'm with you. Sorry the daughter got ill and I hope for nothing but the best for her. Regarding the missing the cruise and decided not to purchase insurance, hard lesson to learn, but now you know. I know that the option was offered, you can't purchase a trip like this without checking a mark that opts you out of insurance. You (or someone in the party) intentionally chose to self-insure.
