  1. For future reference, you could have done your dining reservations 125 days out. Chances are that you would have got 6 people then (we are currently 120 days out from our Breakaway cruise and there is quite good availability for 6 & 8 at Teppanyaki).
  2. I am always entertained by people who try to prove how discerning and sophisticated they are by pointing out all the ways that NCL didn’t meet their high expectations. One of my favourites was on here where someone claimed they weren’t fussy but then went on to express how appalling is was when the waiter served them fromthe wrong side. I assume they think I’m impressed, but all I hear them saying is “we paid all this money and are not enjoying ourselves but you, you poor idiot, are not as sophisticated as us and as a result appear to be having a great time”. I’m never as impressed with them as they think I am. 🙂
  3. We never really worked out what it was all about and it certainly isn’t the norm. As far as I am aware it is resolved now.
  4. Gratuities are paid upfront on the cost of the dining package (whether purchased or as a promo). The gratuity on the bill will be zero, unless there are any items not covered by the package, so adding this makes no difference to that.
  5. You obviously missed some of the ones from when they stopped bar service at Greek ports last year. There were some real gems there.
  6. Not tried it, but I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work. It is spend with NCL.
  7. It isn’t clear what the percentage is (or even if it is a consistent proportion). I have read various different percentages which people were told by NCL staff (from 20% to about 75%). Given the tendency for NCL staff, especially phone staff, to just guess or make stuff up, I wouldn’t give any credence to what they say. A proportion of bookings are held back, but the actual percentage could be anything.
  8. The docking time will be local time in Athens. The clocks will change onboard as you sail where required.
  9. I suspect so, if you have to pay your travel agent who then forwards the payment to NCL. I’ve never used one, so can’t talk from experience though.
  10. You get two vouchers for two. The same as if there were just the two platinums in the room. The third person doesn’t affect things at all.
  11. Whilst not regular as such, NCL have been going to Malaga for years. I’ve been there twice when on Canary Isles cruises from Barcelona. Lots of itineraries do seem to be going to Gibraltar itself these days though.
  12. Yes, that’s just an issue with the app. It treats it as pounds.
  13. I couldn’t get the app to work for partial payments last time, so I had to phone. The app had always worked previously so maybe it was just a temporary issue.
  14. Yes, I’m aware of that. This whole thread has been discussing it. What I meant was that whilst I have been referring to Veuve on these boards I could just as easily typed champagne, or whatever brand NCL were serving. After my next cruise I will probably say Pommery.
  15. I refer ti Veuve because that is the champagne that they served. It is a good champagne, but other brands are available. Pommery sounds good, although there really should be a non Rose option.
  16. I've not read the attachment, but doing very well financially probably doesn't even scratch the surface of the debt, which explains the cost cutting. There are some very hard years ahead for all the cruise lines, regardless of their profitability before interest, and then they need to pay down the debt.
  17. It should work. The terms of the offer say that you need a single transaction of £750, and there is a good chance that what you are planning on doing will be split into multiple transactions. During the last offer someone did report that they got the cashback despite it being multiple transactions, but I don't recall whether they needed to call to get it recognised. Basically, you should be OK, but it isn't guaranteed.
  18. Why do you have to eat early? Reservations are usually available up to about 9.30pm
  19. Result. I have just over £1,500 owing and due in a months time. It will mean a total of £1,100 off the cruise between this and the last offer. 🙂
  20. In my experience, yes, there are wines that aren’t generally available by the glass. The selection does vary though, and the supply issues mean that there are sometimes replacements. We usually take the bottle unopened to drink on our balcony.
  21. It is not unusual for there to be glitches like this in the booking system. Just keep checking, or wait to book onboard. A phone call may help if you don’t want to wait. It certainly hasn’t sold out.
  22. As far as I can see the coffee hasn't changed at all. It has always said Starbucks.
  23. I haven’t seen a definitive answer, but no I don’t believe that you can. My understanding is that you would have to pay full price for any packages purchased onboard.
  24. I have no idea whether it is actually more sanitary to fill via a glass, but what I do know is that there is usually a sign on the water dispenser asking people to do it that way so, if I was filling a bottle, that is how I would do it.
