  1. We were on the Mariner two weeks ago. Our experience was excellent. The food, service, and physical condition of the ship were top notch, far superior to SB and SS which we also sailed recently. The ship's "orchestra" and duo were very talented and accommodating as to requests. There was a piano player in one lounge or another every evening. We would not hesitate to sail on the Mariner again. I would be happy to answer any questions you have.
  2. On the Regent Mariner that shows start at 9:30 pm. My recollection of OC was that there were two identical shows per night to account for early and later diners. However, with my fading memory, that might have been another cruise line.
  3. If one selects cruise lines based on itinerary and price why sail on an ultra premium cruise line at all? Why not sail on Oceana, Azmara, or even Celebrity? To me, the cruise ship IS the destination. I have sailed on SS, SB, and Regent post Covid and and, of course, OC pre-pandemic. Crystal is certainly no more expensive than Regent and Regent's entry level balcony cabins are tiny. SB's smallest cabin is 300 sq ft (not including the balcony). Why then do passengers pay substantially more to sail on Regent than on SB? It's because the food, service, enrichment programs, and overall experience on Regent is FAR superior. If Crystal is as good or better than its previous incarnation any fare disparity between it and SS and/or SB will be well worth it. As the old adage states "you get what you pay for."
  4. Hi Keith, On the wine list you or someone else posted I did not see a German Riesling. OC had Dr. Loosen blue Slate . If you wouldn’t mind asking the sommelier next time he or she comes over whether a German Riesling is available I would be appreciative. Thank you.
  5. Thank you. This is our last night on the Regent Mariner and counting down until our TA cruise on Crystal!!!!
  6. Hi Keith, Is there ballroom dancing before and/or after dinner? What about dance lessons during the day? Thank you.
  7. We are on the Serenity from Toulon to Miami in May, 2024. Would have booked earlier cruises but had already booked a number of cruises on Regent before Crystal's rebirth.
  8. Hello, Can someone who has been on the Mariner within the past year please tell me when and where daily the orchestra (or a subset thereof) plays? Do these venues have any type of dance floor? Thank you!
  9. It was even worse when my office was in Miami and overlooked the Port of Miami. Cruise ships in and out practically every day!!
  10. Good afternoon, Has anyone sailed on the Ritz Carlton cruise line? If so, your take on Ritz-Carlton versus Regent would be most appreciated. Thank you.
  11. Has anyone heard whether the ballroom dancing in the evening will be returning?
  12. Good morning, If I am not mistaken there is a company representative who monitors this forum who, on occasion, has provided their contact information and offered to help with various issues that have been raised. Does anyone have the contact information for this company representative? Thank you
  13. Yes. On the formal night I was only one of two men in the main dining room without a jacket but I did rock the Palm Beach look (dress shirt with sweater draped over my back). They let me in anyway....lol.
  14. We live just outside of Miami which has many international direct flights. The difference between the business class fare we could have bought ourselves and that offered by Regent was $9,000!!!
  15. We were just on the Ovation and our experience with the food was similar. The lamb chops in TK had far more fat than meat. Room stewards were great. Special orders (pasta with olive oil and cheese) simply never appeared at the MDR. The musical groups (one cleverly named "A Band On Ship" ) were top notch except both groups apparently did not realize that music was made after the 70s. The captain was everywhere and very engaging. The cruise director was excellent. The entire cruise line does not stock any German rieslings which baffles me. We were docked next to a German cruise line at one of the ports and I was thinking of knocking on the hull and asking to borrow several bottles! The people were warm and friendly. We travel on Regent this summer than Crystal next spring. I doubt we would travel on Seabourn again unless there was an incredible itinerary and/or a really low price.
  16. Hello, Would you be so kind as to tell me when and where there is dancing on the Mariner. Thank you.
  17. We are on that cruise also and staying at the Hilton. How are you getting to the port?
  18. One of the primary reasons that Crystal was (is?) our preferred line in its segment!!
  19. I consider my cargo shorts to be elegant......lol
  20. I would be very disappointed if ballroom dancing did not return.
  21. It only applies to certain cruise LINES. The cruise line must be part of the program (most are). Crystal is not part of the program but may be in negotiations to join it.
