  1. Did you rent it from Special Needs at Sea? Just so others know, their website says that these folding scooters are only available at this time for cruises out of certain ports. But this is a great option to know about. Especially for passengers who do not have an accessible stateroom.
  2. If you take the rollator, think about renting a wheel/transport chair (to be waiting for you in your room when you board). That way you will only have to take the rollator on the plane. On another note, the ships are huge, the docks can be super long and then there is navigating around your port stop. In other words, there can be a lot of walking especially if you get off the ship. Having a wheelchair can save the day for someone who may not be able to walk very far or does not have very much stamina.
  3. @Grammyluvs You also might consider advising Princess' Access Office prior to your cruise that you will need this service. accessofficeprincess@princesscruises.com.
  4. Are you going to be on Holland America? If you think you might need a wheelchair while on the ship, you will need to provide your own. This is the case with nearly every cruise line. A wheelchair can be easily rented and will be in your room when you get on the ship. If you are going to be on Holland, this is direct from their website: Holland America Line is no longer able to provide complimentary wheelchair assistance for any purpose other than embarkation, disembarkation, and emergency situations. Holland America Line wheelchairs are not available for shore excursions or for use on board. If you will require regular use of a wheelchair, we recommend that you bring your own wheelchair with you. You may also make advance rental arrangements prior to your sailing and have a wheelchair delivered directly to the ship for use on board and in ports of call.
  5. We have had this done many times. As soon as they see me cutting up my husband's steak, someone (usually our waiter) immediately comes and takes over. After the first time, they know that he needs assistance and are always there to assist.
  6. You might hop over to the Disabled Cruise Travel forum. There are numerous discussions about wheelchair boarding. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/114-disabled-cruise-travel/
  7. You have a rollator. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIcE9giFHZY&t=2s
  8. Here's a recent discussion: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2901537-st-thomas-questions/#comment-64505142
  9. First of all, if your sister is going to bring/rent a scooter you might need an accessible stateroom, depending on the scooter width. And you will need to notify NCL about any mobility issues ahead of your cruise. As far as the accessible tours, it is a lot harder to find a tour that will accommodate a scooter (again, depending on the size / foldability of the scooter). Wheelchairs can be folded and are more easily stowed in the tour vehicle. If you are looking at tours through NCL, check here: (scroll down to mobility disabilities) https://www.ncl.com/about/accessible-cruising#advnoti This link discusses shore excursions. I would definitely contact NCL's shore excursion people (phone number in link) to discuss what excursions they will have available on your cruise for wheelchair or scooter users. Here's an older discussion of NCL's ferry. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2652612-complimentary-bermuda-tenders-to-st-georges/ and a newer discussion: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2856420-ncl-bermuda-ferry/
  10. We were on the Reflection last month. Here's what we received on boarding day. The drink package could be upgraded for $20 per day (I'm sure that's pp).
  11. If you can do some walking, you might consider leaving your scooter in your stateroom and taking the trams to get to Breezy Bay. They come close to the ship's gang plank to pick up passengers and they have stops throughout the island. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/is-there-transportation-on-perfect-day-at-cococay Here's one person's video from around the island (including showing the trams on the pier): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sAQIsvBp1c Maybe someone who has had one of the beds at Breezy Bay will be able to answer your question about where you can stow your scooter if you decide to take it. (Have you asked Royal Cariibean's Access Department?)
  12. Are you talking about a shuttle from the airport to the ship and vice versa? I think I would contact Princess' Access Dept and ask them. They may forward the question to the operator of the shuttle. Here's the Princess shuttle/transfer link: https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/travel-and-transportation/ And this is their Access Dept contact information: accessofficeprincess@princesscruises.com You might also post your query on tripadvisor.com Plan B would be to arrange for private transportation. tripadvisor has a list of transportation/taxi companies on its site, together with ratings. You would have to go to the transportation company's website to see if they have accessible vehicles. I know that Paragon Taxis and Freedom Cabs have accessible vehicle and have good ratings. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g186299-Activities-c59-t182-Southampton_Hampshire_England.html
  13. You need to provide your own. The two most mentioned mobility device rental companies are Special Needs at Sea and Scootaround. The equipment (wheelchair or scooter) will be in your stateroom (or outside the terminal building) waiting for you and that's where you leave it on your last day. If you know what cruise line you will be on, you can check their website for their preferred vendor(s). If you rent a scooter, you will probably need an accessible stateroom. Many, many folks on this board have rented mobility equipment for their cruises. Post again with any other questions you might have. https://www.specialneedsatsea.com/ scootaround.com
  14. We booked a Royal cruise while on the Equinox in November. We got the same perks as if we had purchased it while on a Royal cruise.
  15. If you buy your wifi package ahead of time, you can always cancel it and rebook it if the price goes down. And if the price goes up, you're already set with the package you already purchased and that price won't increase.
  16. We've never booked an accessible room two years out. And have had (mostly) no trouble booking an accessible room even six months before sailing. But we are flexible on our dates, ship and itinerary. We do typically book about a year out or a little more. The more flexibility you have the better your chances will be of finding an accessible room closer to sailing. Popular sailings sell out sooner. Plan B: if you need to book out two years, book a cruise with a refundable deposit.
  17. Their website says to call this number for an accessible taxi: 954-565-2800 Not the regular taxi number. Anyway, I'm going to give them a try in April ! Thanks for the update.
  18. haha! We live in The Couve! Directly across the river from PDX
  19. Take care of the ship and F315 in particular 😊 Our cruise is April 22. You live in Washington !!?? Where?
  20. April? I hope it's not the same week we'll be in F315 😉 We love this suite and honestly, I can't think of one thing negative about it. F315 is right next to the one door and we never heard anything door-wise. And zero cigar/cigarette smell. I've attached some more photos for you. I'd book this suite again in a heartbeat.
  21. Here's a flyer we received on the Equinox in November. You can compare your price to what they are charging pre-cruise.
  22. It is. But no bath tub, only a roll-in shower. It's the accessible window suite. F315. We'll be in the same stateroom in April.
  23. Here's a list of the perks for full suites: https://www.princess.com/learn/ships/staterooms/suites/ Attached are a couple of photos taken of our stateroom on the Caribbean Princess last year, plus our (free) mini bar setup.
  24. @lx200gps If you send your shirts out for pressing, here's a price list from a couple of weeks ago on the Reflection. Cost is 50% more for same day turnaround. Elite passengers get some free laundry service.
