  1. I believe PCL has changed to 3:00pm departures in Port Everglades, which is well before other ships depart (or used to, including PCL). Perhaps they have a new goal in all US ports. It certainly makes flying in same day a much riskier proposition. As for Galveston - if tides were a concern, then I would expect variable times since high/low tide times are not the same every day. I like the idea of earlier departures. When the ship moves, there's no turning back and it's off to the open sea.
  2. It is true that a guest could "earn" a FCC and be posted to their account where there is an existing booking with money down. In that case the FCC would just be more money on account, lowering the net due. If the FCC came after FP Date and guest owes nothing, I am not sure what would happen. My guess would be the FCC would sit on account in the member profile record until there was another booking with monies owed - or a new expense on the current booking.
  3. The increase was $10 US/pp. If the AUD moved wrong in the meantime, then anything above that is not Princess problem I suppose. Yes, $25 to $35 is a 40% hike. But the price had also not changed in a while. I imagine a combination of inflation, needing to recover from pandemic, and bringing prices closer to competition.
  4. In theory, shorts are not welcomed in the DR. Several posters have reported either wearing or seeing shorts worn at least on Smart Casual nights. If you are wearing pants and a shirt (not a regular t-shirt, but something collared), you are going to be fine on any night.
  5. Another hot spot disadvantage is that you would always need to be together in order for both to use internet services and apps.
  6. I would say NO. FCC's would have been applied to the cruise fare. This is a look at an add-on option after the fact. Also, the amount is a specific even number.
  7. This is a true statement. If @pamesacruisin books with a TA that offers a discount, they will be getting a discount on the Plus which could easily save $6/pp/day. If not, maybe they will seek out a discounting TA next time. I would order Plus in advance for that reason as no discount when get on board as TA is not involved and earns nothing. If I order in advance, I help my TA and myself. OBC doesn't figure into my equation in this case (will consume it other ways).
  8. Always book a cruise with a cabin you want as soon as you find it. Prices generally go up closer to Final Payment date, but you can always check for a lower price and re-fare/re-book. I would book the cruise Standard. Once you have a deposit down and you have your info setup and such, you can always look at the upgrade cost to Plus and add it later or wait until on board. I wouldn't count on any discount from $60/pp/day. I doubt that is the norm. You have nothing to lose by booking Standard and then adding Plus later. If you have OBC, you could wait as the chances of a price increase for Plus between now and Dec will be similar to lottery odds.
  9. Good point. As others have said, the ship maps and such in the lobby areas are quite good.
  10. Your last part makes sense (it all makes sense, actually). The longer a gambler plays, the more the casino should come out ahead - given the odds are forever in their favor.
  11. At today's wholesale exchange, this is just under $42 USD. Adding $16 (min) CA, brings it to $58 USD, pretty much the same thing. Princess will be using a set exchange rate that they change from time to time (same as they do for CAD). IDK what their set AUD rate is these days, but we can see that CA is not included. However, I did not think about my original post throughly and, wallyj, you are correct. A North American guest is going to be assessed CA when booking in N.A. However, I have read a post or two that indicated the USD cost of an Australia cruise is converted from the AUD and those fares do include CA (baked in). So, they were making a point about not paying 2X for CA or getting OBC compensation, but needing to speak up about it as otherwise could end up paying double. I think we could use a bit more clarity on this situation. IDK if Princess reps in US can answer correctly. One way would be to have one of our fellow CC Members (like @OzKiwiJJ) give us an Australian voyage that is for sale and tell us what Princess Australia website pricing is for a Standard Balcony cabin in a specific category like BB or BC where guest selects the cabin. If they could give us Std and Plus quote for the fare and port taxes separately, we could convert to USD and compare that to the same voyage and cabin on Princess.com (North America) and see what the difference is - if any. I also caution this is not necessarily a guaranteed reveal because Princess may be pricing the same cabin a bit differently in each market sector, notwithstanding a difference for baked in CA.
  12. I am not looking to play for comps or anything else. I just have some curiosity as to how it works. I understand what you are saying, that a typical session might result in a loss of 10% of funds. It could be more or it could be less, if playing fickle machines. I understand what you are getting at. But one walks away with $600 after playing for X hours and has lost $400. Wondering what is gained back through points or future cruise benefits. I was thinking it doesn't matter whether a guest loses the $400 in half an hour or over 6 nights in the casino. But perhaps it does.
  13. That is a good thing I am sure. Wouldn't let it near my phone.
  14. IMO, you would be better to purchase on board because the US Plus includes CA and is priced accordingly at $60/pp/day. In Australia, the CA (crew appreciation) is baked into the cruise fare and is not a component of the Plus. The cost of Plus in AUD should be lower than $60 USD equivalent. I believe this info has been posted once or twice earlier this year and I think I have it right. IDK right off the cost of Plus Fare option in AUD, hopefully someone from Oz will see your thread and reply.
  15. There is no direct number for EZ-Air. You call Princess and either listen for a phone-tree option, or ask a rep to be transferred to EZ-Air agent. They will no doubt quiz you about the issue and want to see if they can help and avoid EZ-Air. You may need to be insistent or creative. I know you solved your question, but just sayin'. Also, the other statement is false. PCL agents can talk to you about a whole lot of things concerning your cruise. What you cannot get into with them is things to do with the cabin and pricing. So, you cannot move a cabin, cancel a booking, make a payment, talk about cost with PCL. But, EZ-Air has nothing to do with the TA. It is self-service function in the Cruise Personalizer and you most certainly can discuss flight situations with PCL reps. If you get a hard time, hang up and call back.
  16. No idea here, but you both cannot be right. Question: If a guest gambles $1,000 of their own funds on a cruise, how many points does that get them and then what good are the points? I am guessing they turn into casino credits for the next time. If so, how many dollars would the points represent? Just curious if someone blew through a grand, how much play money might they get back the next time? I suppose it may not be an easy question if the next time also comes with a free or subsidized cabin.
  17. On Ruby (RU), the Salty Dog is just a Grill up on Lido Deck. It is going to be open at lunch. Vines appears to only offer a charcuterie board for food. IMO, it should be open from noon onwards to get that, but IDK if the case. It could even vary from ship to ship. Hope someone can clarify. You can order whatever. For example, the Plus could order the prix fixe option or a la carte and so could the Standard folks. Obviously, the Standard folks will be billed for what they order. For the Plus, up to you whether to pay or claim one of your free meals.
  18. IDK why they would shy away from that one. Ask them if they have TikTok on their phones - LOL. Anyway, if everyone you want to reach out is on Apple, then fine. Otherwise, need something else, like Facetime. You have more flexibility with Internet. If you do not have internet, then I think Apple iMessage is about it.
  19. Under the previous pricing scheme a 4-device plan was same cost as 2x 1-device plans. A real "steal of a deal".
  20. Not with the new pricing. It takes 3 people to make 4 devices cheaper. $15/day for single and $40/day for 4.
  21. Your observation is valid. Rarely is there a comment about female dress. All of the harranguing is over men for suits and tuxes versus tie and no jacket versus jacket and no tie versus smart casual.
  22. Like a land restaurant, empty tables may be booked. But they only hold them for so long.
  23. They might suggest a different DR. You might be seated quickly if willing to share. Otherwise, could be a wait, but tables turnover all the time once the first diners start finishing. Depends on the ship and guest mix.
  24. They can serve you the IC beverages. They don't have all the food items there, but some things nearby at least resemble some of the food offerings.
