  1. You are correct, unlike HAL who took away a 500 ml ( part bottle ) of water away from me on embarking the Maiden voyage of the Konningsdam 😡
  2. It's all there on the Cunard web site . That's the beauty of Cunard they treat their customers like sensible adults . One can take onboard a sensible amount of 'Wine plus Spirits' ( in fact more than the stated amount ) just don't abuse it going over the top ! otherwise we will loose it . 😉
  3. Yes occasionally , but book BEFORE September 4th .
  4. CPS gets my vote 👍 however, there is also 'Parking 4 Cruises' which I understand is slightly cheaper. I've never use this company but considering giving them a try for my next cruise.
  5. Most guests onboard are often accompanied with a travel companion ( as in your case) The author of the original post hasn't mentioned if they are also travelling with their relative. In most cases with wheelchairs, particularly in restaurants/other venues often the guest has additional help to stow/park the mobility aid out of the way from crew working areas .
  6. I expect it is better than nothing, however, looks very Clumsy. Might be difficult trying to manoeuvre in between tables and chairs in the various public venues & restaurant.
  7. 😂😂 You must be joking , in fact the drinks package has just increased. Perviously it was $65, it is now $70 purchased in advance or $75 once onboard.
  8. Devonport D, if you are resident of the UK e mail ukworld.club@cunard.co.uk Requesting cruise history , you will receive a reply within a day asking to provide three security questions A full history of past cruises including any booked future cruises will be e mailed back within two days including confirmation of loyalty level, number of cruises taken and total number of days. Couldn't be any simpler.
  9. Think you might need to change your travel companion , what's going to be the next drama once she/he is onboard 😉
  10. Ok ! now we/you have covered the evening Dress code, I have a little mission for you 😅 Can you clarify if on your cruise you have Gentlemen Hosts. I'm sure many on here would be interested if you could give us the low down on 'The Couple' who are responsible for the midday dance lessons and in the evenings now offer to dance with solo guests . I/we'd be grateful ( in your own time) if you could drop by the Ballroom and perhaps have a conversation with 'the dance couple' and report back on how this new concept ( in the Ballroom) has been received .
  11. The ladies that you are referring to ( sitting close to the Ballroom Floor) are not 'Female Hosts' they are female 'paying guests', ladies travelling alone who enjoy dancing and usually travel Cunard for the very reason Cunard provide Gentleman Hosts to partner them on the dance floor. Occasionally amongst the Dance Host team, there may be a 'Female Dance Host ' available to dance with (as in my case) any single gentlemen dancers ( or ladies if no gentlemen ) In addition to Gentlemen Hosts, there are often 'solo gentlemen paying guests' ( as in my case being a dancer) who will also occasionally invite a lady onto the floor.
  12. Exactly, spot on. I was taken to task by a couple once ( when I shared a large table of six in PG) that I was far tooooooo familiar with the wait staff . Probably miffed that I received Two Extra portions of the Lobster tail. Top tip, interact often and 'use wait staff names' they all wear a name badge.
  13. I believe you 'may have' already asked this question on a fb cruise forum I moderate ? ( this same question came up a couple of weeks ago 🤔 ) Wouldn't it be easier to telephone CPS direct and discuss your requirements for a correct answer.
  14. Thank You ,an excellent and constructive review, however, you say not enough to keep you occupied whilst onboard , you've made no mention of Cunard's Insight Lectures, did you manage to attend any.
  15. The UK agency you are referring to is 'Dance Afloat' based in Ipswich. I count the owner as an acquaintance of mine. I have recently been in conversation with Dance Afloat , they gave me to understand that they are still working with Cunard to provide dance hosts for future itineraries, however, not all ships in the Cunard fleet will have a full contingent . I was given to understand there is a shortage of 'Suitable' dance hosts to cover all ships in the Cunard fleet ( expect Queen Anne in 24) The Ipswich UK agency also has provide Dance Hosts for Saga & Fred Olsen .
  16. Just to clarify re Cappuccino & Latte in the 'Britannia Restaurant' ( or even in the Grills ) those Cappuccino or lattes requested in the Restaurants are direct from a Machine ( in the Galley ) and are NOT the usual speciality coffees prepared from a 'Barista' that one is use to in coffee shops . Completely different in taste.
  17. Nothing from Room service on Embarkation Day until late afternoon, AFTER the Safety Drill . and just clarify, No room service available on Disembarkation Morning unless in Transit and Continuing on the next itinerary.
  18. I do have to smile at this post 🤭 One doesn't always have to travel in the Grills to be a Noted Guest ( Cunard jargon for VIP) I'm flexible with the categories I often book, either Entrance level Britannia, BC, PG, or QG , however, always been treated as a 'valued guest', on more than one occasion I've experienced the head chef visit my table in Britannia restaurant.
  19. Just had Lunch yesterday with my reliable source from Carnival House, as I understand it QM2 will go into dry dock/refit in November for approx three weeks In addition to exterior work work will also include; Bathrooms & plumbing ( long overdue) Floor tiling in Kings court ? Carpets in some areas replaced including soft furnishings Work to improve the internet ( what ever that means ?)
  20. I believe you may be correct ballroom-cruisers, this same concept is already on Saga Cruise Lines. Usually a husband and wife couple ( Brits). Whilst reasonable dancers , I really wouldn't call them professional ballroom dancers ( ie in those from the Ukraine and nearby countries who have often ranked high competing in World Competitions) I expect it's the end of those professional dance exhibitions that we have often enjoyed in the Queens Room on a formal evening.
  21. From a reliable source It appears Cunard are set to replace Dance Hosts with effect from August 2023 with only two ( one male & one female) I understand that the professional Dance Couple who are at present onboard Queen Victoria ( Alex & Liuba) will resign effective 25th July. It appears Cunard are changing the contracts of the professional dance couples, they will now be asked to do host duty in the evenings , dancing with single guests every evening, in addition to their midday dance lessons . It seems that there will no longer be Gentlemen/Lady dances hosts on most itineraries with the exception of World Cruises and Transatlantic voyages .
  22. No, it will still be ok , One just confirms the arrangement/s they will have 'made in advance' . In December I arranged for a couple of PG guests/friends to join me one evening in Britannia ( Fixed Dining) the MD arranged ( for that evening) another table from the original Two Top that I was allocated.
  23. Yes indeed , that is what the question above is referring to, however, those on 'Fixed Dinning' ( ie fixed table & wait staff ) just walk in, straight to their table .
  24. I wouldn't dream of wearing anything like that Bow Tie on a Formal Evening this is the problem since now it's referred to as Gala Evening, the dressing up box comes out . Gentlemen, you need to be careful wearing outlandish Bow Ties, you could end up being mistaken for the Bingo Caller. Stick to a simple understated Black Tie.
