  1. Whatever Fred are doing they seem to be making it work at the moment as they are keeping their prices high with not much in the way of offers. When we cruised with them their costs were on par with P&O and they had the better itineraries for us. We were usually the youngest on board but that didn't bother us, plus we could get some practice in for when we get old😉. Notice the smiley wink for anybody that may feel offended on our behalf. I would pay the higher price for a bucket list itinerary but not for the routine cruises that we have done before.
  2. I think you may need to wait until P&O have sorted their web site to get the full story. The 120 days was being bandied about all over facecloth yesterday but some people who had phoned P&O because they couldn't book the restaurants were being told that this was an error caused by the site faults and it was actually still 14/15 days and that those that has booked well in advance would be cancelled?.
  3. I think this will sell out quickly, it is ideal for us retiree's who would prefer not to fly, it is well priced too for Aurora to say it is over two years out. I will keep an eye on this but don't expect and late availability.
  4. Our clinic starts jabbing on Thursday this week. Apart from the email requesting volunteers I haven't seen it publicised. I know the take up for the last one was very low. Funny old day today weather wise, we have had sleet, rain, wind and brilliant sunshine and it is cold. We went to the Hardwick inn near Chesterfield for lunch with relatives, very nice it was too, nice plate of steak and Guinness pie, chips and Yorkshire caviar.
  5. Soon you will be wondering how you had time to work.
  6. They must be popular as there is a T shirt
  7. I will order that in Costa later today.
  8. A lovely day for us, our youngest Grandson and his partner and our great Grandson came over for lunch, we had a nice long walk after lunch which the little fella slept through. The weather has been kind today, mainly sunny with a light breeze, looks a bit grim tomorrow though.
  9. A nice to have but unlikely to happen, the other side of the coin is that P&O fall into line with Princess on drinks prices. I have cruises booked with P&O, Cunard and Princess and it is like dealing with three completely different companies.
  10. Hand washing and waiter service are two of the main aids in halting noro, another is increasing cleaning of surfaces especially handrails as noro is a very hardy virus that can survive well on lots of surface types. Alcohol cleaners are not very effective against noro although wipes will remove particles from hands as long as they are properly disposed of, there are a few reports around that claim hand gel can be detrimental as people use it and then think they are safe and do not take other precautions. some of the posts I read on facecloth would support this theory on cruise ships, The only product currently that has much effect is bleach, fortunately it is effective in very dilute concentrations.
  11. It doesn't seem to know what to do here weather wise, it started bright sunny and mild but had clouded over and a couple of light showers, no chance of a hat trick of dry days here. We did our usual run to Barnsley for breakfast and pick up supplies for the weekend. There is a food fair on this weekend and the smells were tantalising as we walked around. I nipped into the bookies for my yearly punt on the Grand national, I have plumbed for Noble Yeats at 22/1 ew. Bet Fred is paying out on the first five at fifth of the odds for a place. Easy come easy go. Enjoy the weekend all especially the folk heading out on a cruise.
  12. Check your account, you may be a higher level than you think as cruises with P&O up to 2017 contributed to Princess loyalty. This is how we got to Elite and we booked for the restaurant last year for our Sept 2024 cruise.
  13. Lovely and warm here, we had our annual trip to Halifax today, we like to see how the Piece Hall is developing and have a good mooch before our morning coffee and cake. All is well. I stopped off at Sainsbugs in Huddersfield on the way home as their petrol is 138.9/L which is the best around. As we were there we popped into the supermarket as there is always a few bits required. I see they are now pulling the same stunt as Tesco and over inflating prices to then reduce them by using the nectar app. Since retirement we are much more aware of prices and who has the better offers and I will definitely not be using Sainsbugs for anything other than fuel. I usually moan about th'ASDA prices when we do our once a month shop there but by gum they beat Sainsbugs hands down on our usual purchases. So nice we sat out earlier in nice sun prior to a stroll, the fields are far too wet to walk at the moment, some of the lanes and paths are tricky but the sun and gentle breeze seems to be helping. Best wishes for @indiana123 hopefully a positive post soon. Keeping up with bacon and weather themes currently airing.
  14. Just use the lifts, the advantage being they would only need to go up😆
  15. I think that if/when the Nationwide and Virgin merger takes place they will likely be run as two companies for several years. When we received the emails spelling out the proposal I seemed to remember something about up to five years to become fully consolidated. It is a shame as I have been pleased with Virgin since they took over Yorkshire bank with generally better interest rates and my accounts.
  16. I agree, there always seems something new to see. We took a tour guided by an archaeology student the last time we went and visited a new museum which is mostly underground, based on findings while digging foundations for new buildings. The guide was so interesting and exited by some of the new digs we were sad to end the tour.
  17. It used to be £125 OBC for two weeks when we started cruising which was about the same value as $250, then they realigned the OBC to £150. Another realignment is long overdue but I won't hold my breath.
  18. It is absolutely fine Julie and welcome. I think sometimes these threads seem a bit clicky as lots of us seem to have been here forever and know each others back story. Even then we do not always agree with each other. Dive in whenever you please.
  19. I always use a credit card as this avoids any issues for me. I think it is the merchant that places the hold and is their responsibility to clear it when they have received funds and not the bank's responsibility. @molecrochip posted about this previously.
  20. We joined last year, short medical and a blood test. We were given the bumph and a printout of our results. I have not heard anything from them since, not that I was really expecting to. .
  21. I often get asked to reach items down in the supermarket, sometimes I know beforehand that someone is going to ask, you just see them gazing longingly at that chocolate on a high shelf, even the order pickers will sometimes ask. We only have one car now since we retired, but I used to do a fair bit of off roading and trial biking so always had various land rovers and motor bikes in my younger years. We currently have a Citroen C3 Aircross which is 3 1/2 year old. Normally I would be looking at changing but with less than 22K on the clock it seems pointless. Top of my list is the Yaris cross hybrid, but I do have a couple of others on my watch list. Weather wise it isn't too bad cloudy and mild with rain later. Like we need more rain, hey ho. I did get to potter in the garden yesterday albeit not much to do.
